I've played the regular PCB's for a while and was looking for something to help me learn how to work the ball a little. I read the previous reviews and almost had the shop I bought them from strengthen the lofts, but then I compared them to some other sets I currently have- regular PCB's and Maxfli Revolution (black dots). The PCB Tours actually have stronger lofts in the longer irons, and gradually get comparitively weaker until the Rev's and PCB's finally pass them up at about the 8 iron. The 9 iron and PW are noticeably weaker lofted on the PCB Tours. Something to think about before you get them adjusted without trying them first. That being said, a solid hit with the 9 iron still gave me the same distance as the Revolutions or PCB's.

reading all of the previous reviews gets me fired up to go hit some balls. if you appreciate true golf clubs, these are just hard to beat. I have hit virtually every iron out there except for the new vip's and the new titleist (I don't consider Callaways to be golf clubs), and nothing hits better. They are not buttery smooth but they are very crisp and feel great. I have played these for well over a year and I have been quite happy. The lofts are a little weak/traditional so you may want to bend them as I did, but they will hit it plenty far. There is a good high trajectory so the ball will land nice and soft. At $299 at Golfsmith this a no brainer.

Customer Service

I have only contacted them for a question or two and they were very responsive.

How is it possible that Golfsmith is selling this gorgeous and noble clubs for $299? I've had my eye on them for two years, and for one reason or another, passed them over again and again, as I purchased virtually every single iron on the market in a ridiculous quest for satisfaction of some odd psychological quirk. I've owned Miz MP 14's, 29's, 33's, Cal x14 Pros, x12 Pros, x12's, 931's, 962's, Ping Blades and O Sizes, Cleveland TA 1's, 3's and 5's, Hawkeyes, Apex Plus's, Yonex Super Forged ADX's, and probably others I'm forgetting. (So I'm a freak that you should avoid, if we ever meet.) Here's the scoop on the MacGregor's: they are solid, consistent, and crisp at impact. They feel head-heavy, compared to Miz 33's, 962's, and certainly Pings. It took some getting used to, but was just a matter of adjustment. Shot patterns are tight and distance control is excellent. I strengthened the lofts 1-2 degrees on the set, as they seemed to hit high. Verusus Miz 33's the increased offset meant I had to play the ball back in my stance some, which improved my ball striking, but led to a tendency to overbake a draw. Again, just something to adjust to. They do not feel as soft as any Mizunos, or the Apex's, but provide excellent feedback. I say the feedback is excellent, not because "feedback" is synonymous with "destroy your hands if you mis-hit the shot", but because it gives you a good read on your swing. Thin shots go surprisingly long and straight. I can work the ball any way I wish, although, the ball seems to want to go straight. I can feel the clubhead all the way through the swing. I can't say these are the longest clubs (which led me to reloft them) but having done that, and with the increased awareness I have of the location of the clubhead throughout the swing, distance is improved. In short, when I saw these really wonderful clubs being firesaled, I almost felt bad for them. Certainly at $299, they are an outstanding value and well worth the relatively small investment.

These irons have taken me a while to get used to, having higher lofts throughout (now hit a 7 iron 150 instead of an 8) and having never owned a set of forged irons before, but now that the "breaking in" phase is over I couldn''t be any more pleased. The first thing that impressed me is how well they bite the greens, even the longer irons. The heads are heavy enough that you have a sense for where the clubhead is at all times. Feedback is excellent, before I look up I can already tell what the shot shape is going to be. My Ping I/3 blades provided feedback, but nothing this precise. The feedback has also allowed me to make some minor swing changes that has helped my consitency. The sweetspot is not as large as many game improvement cast irons, mis-hits are punished both directionally and distance wise, but not severely. Accuracy and consistency are excellent and allows you to fire at the green. The thing I like best is the looks, just the right size, the top line is thin, sole is not that thick, and the chrome with the frosted face and back cavity is gorgeous. If you aren''t used to forged irons, give them some time if you get these. If you are a forged player, I imagine these will perform very well from the get go! I wanted to try MacGregor''s new V-foils, but I can''t imagine they could outperform the PCB''s!

Customer Service

like others have said this is one sweet club. i sold my mp33''s and ended up with these. i dont regret it for one minute. they are soft, but not as soft as the mp33''s, due to their make up. this si the club if you are looking for soft forgings, feel, quality craftsmanship, blade lofts with the little forgiveness a cavity can provide, thin top line, and a slightly bigger sweetspot over a blade, and chrome, chrome, chrome! this club is the combination of blade and cavity back. doesnt get much better!

All I can say is PURE!!!!!!!! these irons are very solid and very long. Before I had these irons I was hitting my 9-iron 140, and now I am crushing it 150! I think that anyone should be able to hit these irons. They are very workable and very forgiving.

The guys at Liquidgolf.com are very helpful and some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

i was looking for a blade with a little bit of forgiveness, and decided to ty these out. they are extremely accurate irons with lots of spin from the square grooves. i really don''''t notice much difference on mis-hits against my mp33''''s. both sets are very forgiving on slight mis-hits. the pcb''''s seem a little harder to me at impact than the mizuno''''s and is the only real knock i have. even though i don''''t like the impact as much, i am having exclellent on course results with these and am sticking with them for now. finish is perfect and setup looks just like a pure muscle-back. i like the more buttery mizunos around the greens if you play those type of shots.

Forged blades intimidate some, but it isn't always the clubhead that makes them tough. Relatively soft Rifle 5.5s make the gleaming Macs a pleasure for any reasonable striker under, say, a fifteen. Almost identical to my slightly flattened 962s in performance, but the look alone is worth the tariff. A Joe Powell 55º Pincher and a 60º Wilson Fluid Feel complete the set perfectly.

Product was delivered exactly as ordered, including radiused soles heel-to-toe but flat leading-to-trailing edge.

Great clubs. Were hard to hit at first. Great for shaping shots; fades, draws, punches etc. Well struck shots fly beautifully. These clubs offer good feel as all good forged clubs do. They are simple in design and beutifully finished. They will definately reward the good player.
I love them.
