Mizuno MP-67 Irons

DESCRIPTION

Continuing the award winning success of Cut MuscleTM technology, the Mizuno product development team has developed a new muscle back iron featuring an innovative "Slender" Cut Muscle design. This new Slender Cut MuscleTM allows the player complete ball control by pin-pointing the COG inside the muscle back design. The MP-67TM long irons achieve a mid-high trajectory, while the scoring irons deliver a mid trajectory.

The MP-67TM offers unmatched ball control by utilizing a new "Slender" Cut MuscleTM Design to precisely position the COG from iron to iron.

I purchased these on Ebay at a pretty good price. First off I would say that these clubs will not work for someone that has an inconsistent swing. I don't care what your handicap is, you better be able to reproduce the same swing over and over. I see lots of people on here saying "I shoot in the 90's and I can hit these just fine..." They must have a fairly decent swing and need to work on other aspects of their games because these irons WILL punish poor swings. Maybe to them, simply advancing the ball is a good hit, but I expect the ball to travel the same distance every single time within a few yards. If you dont hit the sweet spot, the ball will come up short. When struck correctly, the trajectory and distance are incredible, I can aim at a specific spot on the green and put it there most of the time. Draws and fades are strangely enough, a matter of seeing it in your mind and the ball just does it, weird. These irons have definitely improved my swing. I used to use cavity backs, which allowed me to get away with crap swings. These force me to get better, which I like.

let me start by saying that generalizing forged irons as "players clubs only" is ridiculous. i've been playing for no more than 6 months, shoot in the 80's and i hit these just fine. granted i've been told i picked up the game very quickly but still. i had a used set of cavity backs that were given to me and switching from those to the 67's, i noticed an immediate improvement in ball striking. yes one is punished for a mis-hit but but that's a good thing. playing with so called "game improvement" irons is a joke. a club that allows you to strike the ball poorly doesn't help your game at all. the feel and response you get from the 67's is second to none. since my ball striking has improved i'm swinging harder and hitting the ball further than i ever could with the cavity backs. shell out the coin and you'll never play with another iron.

Let me start by saying that a lot of intermediate players tell beginners to stay away from forged irons. I think it's totally false information. I bought just recently a set of Taylormade Burner XD irons and they are forgiving with very minimal workability but they hit long and far and always straight. Where's the improvement there. So I bought a set of Mizuno MP-67's. Right away I was hitting even farther than the Burners and the feel is incredible. I know after every hit if I'm going to come up short or if it's purfect. My accuracy has improved within weeks of having these. There is forgivness in these irons. I'm even working on ball spin and trajectory shots. If your a player wanting to improve or a intermediate wanting a dang good iron I would highly recommend these irons. So happy with this purchase. Thank you Mizuno

If you like feel, workability and feedback in your clubs, then you'll love the MP-67's. If you want game improvement clubs, these are not it. Great center of gravity and a lovely top-line...skinny as a super model.

Just moved to MP67 from my MP60's. Both sets have 5.5 rifle shafts. I love the workability of the MP67 and the feel is the best I have ever experienced with an iron. The specs have a 1 degree difference and I have lost distance but really like the trajectory. This club would not be for someone who is not a single digit cap.

I walked in the store and said i needed some new irons. I had no clue what i wanted. So we tried all the players irons in the whole store, and these just felt the best and had the tightest dispersion. I got them custom fit with the X-100 shafts. I have absolute control over every shot and can turn them any way i want, no problem. The funny thing about these irons is they aren't totally impossible to hit. I was able to hit these the straightest and furthest but when i wanted could turn them like crazy. The heavier head helps the consistency, and mizuno blades really are the best feeling irons there are. i tried them all, abosolutely unbiased, these were the best. I have been using my Titleist 755 irons for about three years now and for the first two years i was in love with them. This past year however the feel of them had somewhat changed. I realized that nothing physical about the clubs had changed but it was my game that had took a turn. As i started to play more tournaments i noticed that in order to make that little "difference", i needed to have more control with my scoring irons. I spoke with reps from multiple companies and after hitting about 8 different models, i came upon the Mizuno mp-67. I'm not sure what it was but as soon as i hit the the first iron from the mp-67 set, the 7 iron, i knew they were special. I had more control over my right to left draw and quickly noticed that 8 out of 10 times i could stop my short iron on the green within a five foot cirle. Never before could i do that. It took a total of about 10 min to decide to make the purchase. i was fitted by Mizuno at my local Golf Galaxy an within a week they were in my bag. The first round that i played with them i shot a 69, which is my lowest score to date on that particular course. So in a nutshell, i would reccommend these clubs to anyone who is ready to improve their game with a muscle back iron!

Before this season I had been playing some Ping ISI-K cavity backs which featured massive heads designed for pure game improvement. I hit them okay but I found that working the ball was impossible, and the offset led to some vicious hooks.

So early in this season I switched to some Mizuno MP-29s that I picked up on the cheap via Ebay a number of years ago. I wasn't playing enough before this season to warrant switching to a player's iron but I am back into the game huge now, so I made the jump. I was really starting to get the hang of the 29s when someone broke into my car and stole them. The amount of playing I was doing made quick replacement necessary, so I picked up some Hogan Apex Blades for $499.99 at Golfsmith brand new (which is a ridiculous deal). I liked the feel of the clubheads but found that the S-90 shafts led to a balooning trajectory even when hitting draws. I considered reshafting them, but found that to be more expensive than I thought.

I was on Mizuno's website and they said that there would be a Mizuno rep at my local Golfsmith one day, so I decided to get fitted. The rep was very helpful and took me through a static and a dynamic fitting test. I'm 5'10 but found that I needed clubs that were 1 degree upright due to my short arms and upright stance/posture/swing, etc. and X-100 shafts. I also needed the grips built up because of my hand size (don't overlook this consideration in the fitting process). I hit several of the current Mizuno models (37, 60, 32, etc.) but found that I liked the feel of the 67s the best. Super soft. I talked to the Golfsmith people and they were willing to take back my Hogans at 90% credit and put that towards the new clubs. They also said I could keep the Hogans until the new clubs came in, which was very cool.

It only took a couple weeks for the clubs to come in from Mizuno and I'm very pleased. I believe that they've actually improved my swing. Distance is maybe a half a club down from the Pings but still very respectable. I'm learning how to shape shots and control trajectory and my scores are starting to creep down over time. I've probably dropped from a 15 handicap down to a 10. Oh and no more balooning with the X-100 shafts. If you considering these irons or are a serious golfer at all FITTING IS ESSENTIAL. And it's probably going to be tough to find a better blade than the Mizuno MP-67.

Customer Service

Awesome both on Mizuno's end and Golfsmith's.

These a very good irons...I have played Ping ISI's and Hogan Apex Pros before and recently upgraded to these. Good Decision. I just shot even par for the first time in my life with them. Deadly accurate when you hit them sweet and no better feel. You SHOULD be properly fit, though, no matter the cost...it is worth it. I did lose about a 1/2 of club length in distance, but it is marginal based on lie and condition, but these clubs really don't perform the best when trying to cook a club about 5-10 yards longer than you normally hit them. If your looking to go with a blade type and your ball striking is good...these will help you get more consistency. Worth a look.

Customer Service

Never had used them. Used a certified Mizuno fitter. Worth the price.
