I bought this set off Ebay with the R-300 Dynalite Gold shafts. They are intended to give you a high ball flight, which I wanted and got. I had a set of Nike NDS clubs which I never really took a shine to. They are fair clubs for their price, but they just didn't endear themselves to me for some reason. I suppose the NDS weren't as forgiving as they were made out to be. But these MX-23 irons are all they claim to be. A forged iron with ample forgiveness but they still look traditional at address. Like others have noted, a well struck shot gives you such a nice feeling at impact. But shots off the toe or slightly toward the heel won't be an absolute disaster either, and you'll know where on the clubface you hit it immediately. This is a set of irons for someone who is improving as a golfer and doesn't want the gawkier game-improvement irons. I guess what I mean is that you can grow into these irons as your game improves. I tested irons for 2 hours one day and 4 hours a second day, trying to make sure I hit them all and found the exact clubs for my game. irons dont come cheap so i wanted to make sure i got my money's worth. I narrowed it down to 4 clubs on the final day; cleveland TA-6, nike slingshot oss, taylormade's rac os 2 and the mizuno mx-23. the nike was unbelievably forgiving but i couldn't stand the fact that it whistles when you swing it and i wanted something i could grow with as my game improves. There was one thing about the mx-23's that i couldnt stop coming back to them for. not only did they hit the ball a mile but they were forgiving with feedback. i knew when i made a bad swing, and where i hit the ball on the club head. that bonus will be what will help me in the future. i will know what i'm doing wrong, and make the appropriate changes to correct it. if i went with a bigger game improving iron i would've hit it straight all the time but i wouldnt know if i had good contact for sure. another thing about these clubs was when they are struck in the sweet spot there's no other way to explain it other than it's like butter. it's the best feeling in the world. i mean a good shot with these clubs really lets you know it. i am so glad i went with them because they're beautiful to look at, they feel like they're made with great care and quality and i've never hit forged irons before, and if that's what it feels like there isnt anything better than that. also, i can hit my 3 iron with these. I've had trouble with 3 irons and my last 4 iron (callaway x-14) in the past so this is a huge bonus. i cant even really explain much more, i dont know how to put it into words without rambling on and on. all i can say is these clubs stood up to the test against MANY others and won. they really perform, there's nothing like the way they feel. and i read earlier that some people were saying that they take a decent swing to hit them consistantly and i do agree to some extent. you dont need a perfect swing but it does have to be a decent swing with a good tempo. with the other clubs i tested, my tempo could be way off and they'd go straight but these took a smooth swing. but i do highly recommend at least giving them a try. once you hit them you'll see what i'm talking about and you'll be hooked. This is my 2nd set of Mizuno MX-23's and they're simply the best set of irons for me. I sold my previous set because my game had "evolved" somewhat and I thought that I needed (deserved) something flashier. After testing the other brands listed below, plus a few others... I found myself missing that soft, buttery feel, that only a Mizuno forged iron can give you (The Callaway X-Tours were damned close though). I ordered a 4-PW set on ebay, new and to my preferred specs of +3 upright, 1/2inch over standard length; fitted with Golf Pride Dual Durometer mid-size grips & Dynamic Gold SL shafts for around $440 shipped. Turnaround time from Mizuno was less than ten days from the day that the order was placed! Simply put, I am much more accurate than I was with the Dynalites and the feel is very nice, with a slightly lower trajectory than the Dynalites have. This is especially useful if you live in windy state like I do. I was able to play just a few rounds with the new sticks before the snow came a calling, but the changes I made ended up being a good thing for me. I learned that, while the other brands below are fine irons in there own right, in the end, the MX-23's are the right iron for ME! Sometimes just a small change in accessories and/or fitting, is all you need before you do away with a set of irons that aren't too shabby to begin with! In closing, YES, they're a bit pricey, but in this instance, you DO get what you pay for and the quality is unmatched in my opinion. Customer Service I've had a few questions pertaining to these irons and they have been more than helpful in answering them. Similar Products Used: TaylorMade Rac LT Titleist 704 Callaway X-Tours |

I wanted to try something a little more forgiving than my Titleist 990 DCI's (the best Irons ever made - if your swing is solid) so I tried a few of the major, intermediate level clubs before settling on the MX 23's. "Easy to hit" is just a marketing term. These are sweet, substantial feeling clubs that make a bad shot end up a little better than it would be if hit with a less forgiving club so that's whats meant by "easy to hit" I guess. You still need a decent swing to make these perform, but they are a bit more forgiving. The reason everyone says they've gained distance is because these clubs are lofted significantly lower than some others. For example, My DCI's 9 Iron is 44.5 degrees vs. 41 for the MX 23. I wish I could hit the Titleist clubs consistantly, but since I can't, these clubs are staying in my bag because they knock a stroke or two or more off of my score every round. |

USPS just dropped these off, so I've only been to the range with them but *wow*. I noticed some of the other reviews for these clubs claimed significant yardage increases and I was skeptical at best. I was also a bit apprehensive that they may be too much club for me as my handicap is 17. These clubs are silky smooth and just kill it. Added 10 yards to my 7 iron and I can actually hit my 4 iron now (highish and straight too!). Really...*wow*. Incredible clubs. They are sleek and good looking as well, not like some of the other game improvement irons that seem like you're swinging a lemon on a stick. The only negative is that with the Dynalite Gold shafts the ball flight on the PW-7 is a tad higher than I'd like. If it gets windy it could be a problem (but the shaft is causing this and not the club itself). Other than that if you can shoot high-mid 90's they aren't too much club for you. Highly recommended. I recently made the transition from a set of Nike Slingshot clones, the Tour Equalizer+... a very, VERY nice set of sticks, really easy to hit, I would recommend them to any higher handicap player... BUT.. the mx-23's are a whole different ballgame. Since I have been able to drop into the high 70's, I felt I needed to move to the next level in irons, and the are really sweet. I do not agree at all with Golf Magazines pick of the mx-23's as the "perfect set" for 20+ handicappers... the Slingshots, Nickent 3DX, and Big Berthas to name just a few are MUCH more forgiving. I think that maybe the 10 hdcp or better is more like it, you have to have a decent, not perfect, swing for the mx-23's. While off center hits are not brutal, they are simply not nearly as forgiving as those sets mentioned above. That said, the mx-23 distance, balance, and especially the feel and accuracy are top notch. I have the Dynalite S300 steel, kind of a light S flex, great fit for me. The scoring irons are deadly. I am hoping that these take me to consistent mid to low 70's, we will see. Hope you all hit 'em great!! Customer Service Not used. These irons are in between cut muscle backs and oversized entry level clubs. These are the stepping stones to the players clubs. But don't let the big cavity back fool you. They are forgiving but as well let you know when you caught one on the toe. Hence the feeling of a forged club. The distance is still there with maybe a 5 yrd loss. You still can work the ball a little with these clubs as well. I have the Dynalite Gold shafts in them, and all you have to do is take a smooth 80% swing and you are long as day. The Dynalite shafts give you the feeling close to the lightness of a graphite shaft and the accuracy of steel, as well as the Dynalite shafts don't sting your hands on those once in a blue moon hozel rockets for they have a soft tip. One of the best irons I've played. Once again this review is my preference in what I like in feel, however Mizuno is the #1 iron on tour so do yourself a favor and demo them and see for youself. Customer Service Have not had to use, I did get them drop shipped from the factory in no time. Ive had these irons for about a year and so far im extremely happy with them. The MX-23's are soft and responsive and give good feedback. Mis-hits go fairly straight and fly a decent distance as well. The quality of these irons is excellent. I would say that these irons are "forgiving" but not as forgiving as other game improvement clubs like the Callaway 2004 Big Bertha irons, which I played before I bought the MX-23's. While the Callaways are more "forgiving", they have absolutely no feel. So its hard to tell if you hit one the toe with the Callaways. Such is not the case with MX-23's. They have such good feel, you will know when you hit a bad shot. Then you can adjust your swing accordingly, and hopefully become a better ball striker. As a result of switching over to these irons, I have dropped 7 strokes so far. Im playing the game better now than I would have if I had stayed with the Callaways. If youre looking for new irons, demo these. I doubt you will be disappointed. Customer Service never had to call Mizuno Similar Products Used: Callaway 2004 Big Bertha |

Pros: These are sturdy, well made clubs. They give you confidence at address and look reasonably attractive in the bag. They are slightly heavier than most and I think that is what adds distance for most of the golfers. I picked up about 10 yards over my titleist 822OS set. The feel is good--you can tell when you hit it on the sweet spot. I believe they have a slight draw bias, so if you are prone to hooks, I would avoid. As a matter of fact, I had trouble fading on the course or even intentionally slicing on the range. The best part about these clubs is that even mis-hits go straight and a reasonable distance. Negatives: they are slightly heavy. Summary: a good club for the mid-handicapper. I would recommend a fitting for all Mizuno clubs.
