Thanks Mizuno!

I'm in my mid-late 30s and hasn't played golf for 2 years. After moving to Florida, I started playing golf again with my old Callaway X-12 clubs. I used to shoot mid-80s constantly but my best score after 10 rounds was a mere 93. Half of my rounds were over 100.

I finally gave up on my old irons and decided to switch the equipment. After extensive research, I have chosen MX-950 for its progressive design.

After 3 days of practice with the new set, I took them to a course where I shot 120 from white tee. Guess what? I lowered my score by 35 shots and shot 85 from blue tee. This is 8 shots better than my best round in a year.

With these irons, I can get the ball up high and stop dead on the green. I'm glad that I gave up on ego and chose regular flex. I realized that my swing speed is no longer fast enough for steel or stiff-flex shaft.

If you are struggling with your old set, I highly recommend MX-950. It's probably more expensive than other sets but it's worth it considering if you don't use 3 and 4 irons. I was going to buy hybrids any way.

Well let me tell you.. I have been playing for a long time with an old set of crappy clubs.. finally decided to upgrade and after reading many internet reviews/trips to the local golf store, etc.. I went for these Mizuno. They are just fantastic and dropped my score from the mid 90s to now 70-80... I am a happy customer..

After been learning with a set of Titleist DCI 990, I decide to upgrade my iron set (they are really hard to hit.....for me)and after a long research we went with Mizuno MX-950, Hybrids (3 and 4) are my new favorites, now I can hit shoots from the 180 yards and Up without using my 3 wood, and the higher you go with the loft the easier you can hit them.
At the beginning It feels it a little bit shorts, but after 2 rounds you stop feeling that way.
They look really nice on the bag and the hybrids covers are sharp too.
If you are looking to have fun, learn the game and lower your score this is it, probably one day you will be able to use MP-60's

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MX-950 IS2 Regular

I decided to upgrade my irons from my Adams A2's with Aldila 85-R shafts to the MX-950's with the stock Exsar IS2 regular shafts. Well, they certainly feel solid and I'm able to draw the ball with them, but I lost at least ten yards with the MX-950's. I suspect it's the higher kickpoint on the Exsar IS2 shafts that doesn't agree with my slower swing (age 69). If you have an average or above average swing speed, these irons should work very well. Quality of manufacture and appearance is outstanding - right up to Mizuno high standards.

I replaced an old set of wilson firesticks, that I hit fairly well, with the mx 950s (regular flex graphite). These new clubs are very forgiving. After hovering in the low 80s I am now a 70s golfer because I can hit more than 5-7 GIR per round (more like 12+ now).

The distance gain is not much (+5 yds) except on the hybrids as I did not hit my 3/4 irons very well previously. The hybrids change that.

These clubs have great feel. My short game has improved due to better feel and more spin (easier to add spin).

It doesn't seem to matter how slow or fast you swing ... the connection is solid and you don't feel any vibrations, even on bad shots.

A very nice set of clubs indeed. Also, it is nice that a matching set of quality wedges can be purchased so you have a complete set of clubs that all feel the same.

I tried callaway, nike, taylor made, mizuno 900 (steel) at the store but liked these 950s the best. The 900s were steel so they may have been good too if I could have swung the graphite version.

Got these fitted with the Dynamic Gold S300 shaft rather than the lightweight stock shaft. Absolutely stunning set of irons! Without doubt the best feeling and most forgiving clubs I've ever used. It really is hard to put into words how good these are. Yes, the 5-7 irons are a little clunky but using them is almost like cheating. The 8-PW are not nearly as clunky and are just pure Mizuno butter. The hybrids (3 & 4) are so easy to hit that I'm wondering whether they should actually be banned from competitive golf!

I am a mid handicapper (shoot in the 80s) and I don't care what people say about using GI clubs. I was going to get a "players" club, the MP-57s, but, at the end of the day, the forgiveness of the MX-950s is going to lead to lower scores. Don't get me wrong, I tried the MP-57s and hit them very well but I know that, on the course, a bad swing would cost me more shots.

I recommend these irons to basically anyone, even scratch golfers! Not only will you see your scores go down, you will get a feeling like no other when you strike the ball out of the centre of the clubface. Trust me, if you are thinking of buying the Callaway X20s, DON'T! The MX-950s are streets ahead.
