Ping i15 Irons

Ping i15 Irons

DESCRIPTION

In the design of the i15 iron, PING engineers focused on the better player who prefers an iron set that offers the control to play a variety of shots. Created as a progressive set, the longer irons are larger for more forgiveness. The mid- and short-irons are smaller to ensure workability and control on approach shots.

At the start of the year I played off a 22 handicap. I was striking the ball well and reasonable straight and I decided the reason i wasnt going down was because my clubs werent good enough. I had an old set of mizuno blades which were nice but not good enough. I decided to have a custom fitting and i have never really liked pings but these just felt lovely!! they have over halved my handicap to 10 and added a huge amount of distance to my game. I love the penertrating ball flight and superb distance (9 iron 160) a tad on the expensive side but well worth it :-) extrememly happy golfer!!

I just purchased Ping i15 irons at Golftown in Toronto. I must say that I visited the store twice prior to making my purchase decision. I originally went to buy a set of Callaway X irons from 2009 - they were a great deal but I just couldn't get the feel that I wanted out of these.
I was hitting Taylormade RAC's and was more or less satisfied with them, however, I was in need of a change and headed out to look for new irons.
I hit the Taylormade R9 TP, the Mizuno MX300, the Callaway Diablo and the Titleist TP1 and TP2. For my liking, none of them performed and felt as good as the Ping i15's.
BTW, if you're looking for someone to help you sort out what you might need in golf clubs I dealt with Chris at the Laird Street location of Golftown - very patient and very knowledgeable.
Good golfing!!!

Model Reviewed: PING I 15 GRAPHITE IRONS

I PURCHASED THE PING I 15 IRONS WITH GRAPHITE SHAFTS ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. MOST NOTICEBLE IS THAT I DON'T SNAP HOOK MY IRONS ANYMORE. SHOTS ARE MORE CONSISTANT WITH A TIGHTER DISBURSEMENT. FLIGHT IS HIGHER TRAJECTORY. DISTANCES ARE VERY, VERY CONSISTANT. IT TOOK ABOUT A MONTH TO GET USED TO HITTING NEW CLUBS, BUT I HAVE IN 3 MONTHS DROPPED MY HANDICAP FROM 8 TO 5. I'M 59, AND DECIDED TO PAY THE EXTRA FOR GRAPHITE, AND I AM 100% HAPPY WITH THESE IRONS.

This is the third set of Pings I've owned, been using them for 3 months now. The first were i3+ blades, then s57's. Both are great sets. The i15 are truly a great set, best I've used. I am amazed at how easy they are to hit and how well the poorly struck shots end up. I loved the s57's, but for the number of times I make a less than good swing, the i15's are a better fit for me. I have the KBS tour shafts and this combo, i15 and KBS is fantastic from a feel standpoint. What small abilty at working the ball I have is enhanced with these clubs. Highly reccomended.

Finally got these after a 3 week wait from Ping. Let me tell you, it was well worth it. I have been playing Mizuno MP 32 for a while now, and while they "feel" good, they are short, and less forgiving than I need. The i15's are long, straight and just the right amount of workability. The long irons are like hitting hybrids, only not quite as high. I have the KBS Tour X stiff shafts, and they work very well for me in them. My 7 iron is back to 165 finally, it was 155 with the Mizuno's. Speaking of Mizuno, everybody who thinks that Ping's don't "feel" as good as forged, and their may be a very small difference that only the best player's in the world can feel, these feel amazing when hit sweet. Feedback is better than I expected as well, I know where I it on the face before I even look to see where I struck it, and it even stings a little on a mis hit (probably the shaft). For those who think these aren't "player" irons, or your too good for them, then you must be better than the 10-15 pros (including Chris DiMarco 2-PW) who play these. These are awesome, literally, you will be in awe when you see that 7 iron jump straight up, bore out, and land softly right at 165, beautiful is all I can say. They bring fun, and the feel of a forged club with forgiveness and workability...What more could you want? Like other's have said though, if your not less than a 15 handi, look at the G15, KJ Choi plays the whole set on tour right now. If your looking at irons, you owe it to yourself to give these a try.

They were waiting on LH 9 iron heads to come in forever, but then Overnighted them to my house. Very easy to deal with.

Just got done rattling off three straight birdies to close out my early sunday round for a 68 when the pro at the club asked me to try these out. I was pretty hammered and told him I was unhappy with Ping's new products but owed him a favor so I told him I would give them a whirl. First off, these clubs seemed exceptionally large at address. When I made a couple swings these clubs lacked the feel and didn't give the feedback I need. By feedback, I mean the buttery feel when I grove a golf shot. I rarely mis-hit so I don't need that type of feedback. I also did not like how offset the head was. I would compare the feel of these clubs to the Ping Zings without the workability. The pro looked upset when I told him how I felt about these clubs. I asked him what was up and he said he just ordered five sets. He knew once the word got out at the club about how I felt about them they would be stuck on his shelf. Take it from the best, look elsewhere.

Coming from Mizuno MP32s, I wanted a club with a little more forgiveness. These are the ticket! Very forgiving - mis-hits thin/toe/heal find their way to the target. Fat shots are penalized accordingly, but only fall 8-10 yards short. Great sole, doesn't dig. Excellent feel; perfect size; look inspiring at address; confidence builders. AWT Stiff - short irons are definitely stiffer compared to DG S300 and are deadly accurate. Gained a little in distance, but they are a degree stronger. Can shape shots, just have to work a little harder to fade it. Knock downs are easy.

Beautiful clubs that will stay in my bag for years. Didn't think I'd ever give up that Mizuno buttery feel, but the I15s are just so much easier to play with. I'm having more fun on the course, and working at it alot less. Dropped my scores from low 80s to mid/high 70s (didn't realize the slight mis-hits on blades could cost me so much....or am I just playing more????). Great clubs for those looking for a bit of forgiveness, accuracy, that aren't super strong lofted and have great feel.

I read a lot of negative reviews here but tried them out. I have to say that "it's not the arrow, it's the indian" to coin an old phrase regarding the complaints. They feel like forged blades when you strike them well, you can move the ball and they are forgiving as a players iron gets. If you complain about these sticks, go get yourself some lessons. Whenever I was unhappy with a shot it was my fault; hit behind it, got too fast with my arms... I'm not a Ping rep or compensated for anything but I have to say if you can't hit these well after being fitted and then blame it all on the club, try tennis or softball because you just ain't good enough!
