Ping i3 PLUS BLADE Irons

Ping i3 PLUS BLADE Irons

DESCRIPTION

The i3+ Blade appeals to players who seek the classic look and feel of a club with less offset and a smaller head. The reduced offset offers less bounce for better players to "pick" at the ball from tight fairways. PING engineers also put slightly more offset in the shorter irons of the Blade, which helps players "square up" their shots, while still maintaining a classic look throughout the set. I tried the demo 6 iron Ping I3+ and a I3+ Blade. They might be called a blade, but they are really a cavity back iron with less offset than the regular I3+. I loved the I3+ blades after hitting them the first time. I bought a set on Ebay and my iron play has never been better.

These are probably for a single digit player up to probably a 14 hdcpr. I played the I5's before trying the I3+ Blade. These are a lot more forgiving.

I have owned and played several name brand clubs and these are the best I have tried to date. Buy a demo club on EBay and try for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

They have been very helpful. If you call them with the serial # on a club or set they will give you the specs when the clubs were manufactured.

Phenominal clubs. I am a complete club tinkerer, but I keep coming back to this set. I have tried the other PING products, and, with the exception of the Eye 2+ and the I3+, was not overly impressed. The I3+ blade is a great mixture for someone who likes to shape shots but also likes a little forgiveness now and then. This is my 5th and final set. I have tried EVERY other club out there in between. The biggest recommendation I could give you though is to get fitted through someone who knows what they are doing. This last, and final set are pured X100 shafts, blue dot, and having them made to fit your swing blows those other hunks of scrap metal off the shelf. I still love the look of a shiny bladed club, but I love to look at my ball on the green more. If you want a good set of sticks-try a set of the I3+ blades.

Gotta say, Ping I 3 + Blades are darn good sticks. I'm 38 and my first set of sticks were Haig Ultras, thanks dad Sill got-um. Since then I've gone around the block a few times with different clubs. Best I've hit are Haig Ultras second best were Taylormade 320's. They look kinda like blades but were super forgiving. My dilemma, a club with minimal offset if not zero that offers just a bit of forgivness. Oh yeah, the 320's gotta bit of a hole in the face and they had just a touch too much offset to begin with. The search continues. So recently I found a set of I3+ blades. I was a little weary because I had hit the I3's they felt klanky and cast. I played the eye 2's, great clubs but way to offset. Still I hit a couple of 6 iron on the range and these I3+bl. felt extremly pure. All is well right? No! Just after I swiped my credit card and bought the clubs I found that they were not the same shafts P-3. Moreover the shafts were cut by Frankenstein. No problem if they had another set in any of their socal stores but not to be found. So instead of playing some hack set I decieded to stay with Ping and get a set of S59 blades. The S59's still hade the cs-lite shaft witch I liked plus a golf club just does'nt look any better. My luck the clubs were a 1/2 inch over, I guess I should have just ordered direct from factory but oh well. still I played them and s--t these clubs were great, No offset to yank the ball left. The sole although thin still grabed at the ball not having to pick it like a pebble of sand off the back end of a bikini. I did like these clubs but maybe not as much as my dad as everytime I went for a club it was gone and in my dads hands as he was beating me every way plus presses.Needless to say he got a set of his own after a couple rounds beating me with mine. Still my original mission was to have a set of I3+b so I was not quit content. 3 days later my brother calls me and tells me there is a set of exactly what I'm looking for at one of our socal shops. I'm sceptical so I leave my dad a voice mail to call me as I know he has doughnuts at our local socal store every weakend.(No kidding) he called back in 10 minutes and when I asked where he was he said let me walk out of the store I'm in so my cell will pick up the call. I said O.K. lil bro says accross from the lefties is a set of what I'm looking for. 15 minutes of air time and my dad distinguishing step patterns on shafts that were miss labled he came to the conclusion that these were the clubs I've been looking for.I got em!!! Were they the write clubs? Yes, black dot cs-lite shaft factory spec. All clubs were from the same litter,(ie hosel#) and grips were perf. So I took them straight to the range, they hit perfect!! since then I have played them on the course and guess what? They hit real good!! To capsulate, these clubs have what Ping says they do. Good front edge- to go after the ball. Lite offset- to play this club like a bl. Great back end cavity- a little gimmie Perfect sole- pick it more often These clubs hit like Santa Maria-soft They look like B. Hogan-true and if I meet you on the course they will take your wallet to. Folks, if you can find them, buy them!!! jholly

Model Reviewed: ping i3+ blades (blue dot)

About a month ago switched to Ping's i3+ blade from an old callaway set(x-14), and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My handicap was consistently dropping lower by the week, and I further improved with the "blades that aren't really blades." I use a blue dot club with a standard grip and the CS lite shaft. The shaft took a few buckets on the range to get used to, but eventually sunk in very well. The long irons are more difficult to hit, but from 6 iron to wedge, I know that everytime I can be on the green, usually with a makeable putt, which is important to me, about a 10 handicap. I need that confidence. From 185 out all the way down to a wedge, knowing that I can be on with a chance at very legit chance at birdie is all I can really ask for, and the i3+ blade gives me that. My 3, 4, and 5 irons need a little work though. i hardly blame the clubs, though. I've never hit long irons all that well. The i3+ blades also display a good and more consistent ball flight. It doesn't get caught up in the air, but displays more of a line drive quality while still soaring high. And whoever ping has working in their "spin department" should get a raise, because getting the ball to stick or backing it up 5 or so feet is no problem, but not to the point where it is out of control. I noticed that with my dad's eye two's. They have the square grooves and the ball spins very well. Most people are familiar with the common feeling that this is a club for a mid-to-low handicapper who is looking to improve his or her game, and I couldn't agree more. It's a great set for anyone who is trying to become, or already is, serious about golf. If you are just a business golfer, this isn't your set. The workability of the i3+ blade is great. I play a natural draw and have no problem hitting a fade and certainly no problem playing a sweeping hook if needed. Not so much at my home course, but at a lot of neighboring courses in the area, trees often hang over the side of greens and fairways. With the workability of the i3+ blades, those trees are more easily taken out of play. Also, the feature of the i3+ blades that ultimately acted as the deciding factor in me buying the clubs was the outstanding results I recieved from the rough and other tight lies. Hitting off foreign lies is no problem with this product -- dirt, course landscaping like mulch, under trees, etc. The i3+ blades cut through the rough easily with their thin structure, and I feel like i can hit them from anywhere. That was the overwhelming factor, I just felt good with the club in my hand, no matter where I was during the demo round, and I knew this was the club for me. To me, one of the most important things in golf , almost as important as the fundamentals, is the mentality that when you stand over the ball you feel like you are going to hit a good shot. I get that feeling every shot with my new set. That had been a problem for me with my x-14's. The x-14's thicker frame made it seem more difficult to hit from tighter lies and such, so every time I got in that sitation, I couldn't relax and ddin't feel that good shot coming. Don't get me wrong either, Callaway's entire series of x-12 through x-18 is great...they really are fantastic clubs. I also demoed the new x-18 pro series(tour), and I hit them about as good as I hit my new clubs on the range, but when I got out there to play with them they just didn't feel as good to me as the i3+ blades. It was just an opinion thing for me, but I guess what I'm saying is that you can't really go wrong with either. The x-18 tour and my blades, in my mind, are the best clubs on the market for a mid-to-low handicapper looking to improve. For any mid handicapper that is happy with his or her game, go with the regular x-18 (not the tour). They are probably the most forgiving club on the market, but the workability isn't there. I really encourage you all to try the i3+ blades.

Model Reviewed: ping i3+ blade irons

Although I've enjoyed the i3+ blades, after currently coming back to golf after a 5 year hiatus, I find them a bit beyond my skill (and dedication) level. Normally an 8 or 9, I'm a 13 right now moving toward my goal of getting back to normal. I bought these i3+ blades without giving it much thought about 6 months ago and have found since that hitting them solid takes more consistency than I can give. I play occasionally with a scratch player who wouldn't dream of hitting any other club (easy for him to say because he gets so many flush hits.) Of course he spends much more time than I'm willing invest in pounding balls. (I do agree with him on one thing, when you flush it, it's like sex.) Besides, my blades are black dot and I've been measured for white dots so they're the wrong length and lie for me. I guess I could spend the time and effort to readjust everything (Ping does a wonderful job of club refitting) but have decided instead to order a set of G2s (white dot). It's the first time I've ever been fitted, so I'm looking forward (I think) to sticks that were made for me. We'll see if "custom fitting" is all its cut out to be. (PS: anyone out there interested in a set of i3+ blades 3-PW [black dot] in excellent shape? If so, email me, let's talk. I'll take $450.)

I have stiff graphite shafts green dot 3-pw that I paid $396 on ebay (bargin 1/3 of local cost). The clubs are by far the best I have ever played. They are very forgiving with the ability to work the ball in either direction. I have played 7 rounds of golf with these clubs and after a couple of bonding rounds and one where rain stopped the round when I was 1 worse than handicap my last four rounds have been 5, 4, 7 and 4 better than handicap. I am very happy for a once a week golfer. I an generally a poor putter but these clubs seem to find the pin and I have never made so many birdies. My playing partners hate them as I am collecting the money from them every week. I really can't say anything negative about them at this stage.

I have owned two sets of these irons. The CS Lite shaft simply does not work with the blades. You can't feel the clubhead and I lost two clubs difference. I switched to the JZ shaft in stiff flex and it made an incredible difference!! Now, they play like very forgiving blades and are great around the greens.

I played blades until two years ago when I graduated college and was not able to play as often. That being said I would rather go back to blades than play these. What is the point of making a cast iron that is supposed to play like a blade? I am not sure if Ping fired all of the designers responsible for the Eye 2's, ISI's, and Zing's but they need to bring them back. I had these custom ordered with Rifle Flighted 6.5 shafts, the shafts were the only thing I liked. They look like blades at set up and play like blades wrapped in cardboard. the workability is not there and the forgiveness is minute in comparison to the lack of feel. I am not a professional, I realize this, but I am a decent golfer and I have been playing for a number of years. I think Ping has taken a step back with these irons. If you are loking for a great set of Ping irons get the ISI's. You will spend hundreds less, even if you get them refurbished, and be much happier. Just because there new does not make them better.

Model Reviewed: PING i3+ blades plus 2-iron

I bought these clubs in May. I wanted a set of irons that were blades {for accuracy and distance} and performed or reflected the amount of effort I put into the shot. Irons that would adjust to my creative on-course imagination. Respectably, PING has done just that. Light shaft, appropriately weighted head, and good overall swing weighting. The only problem I had to get used to was the setup {the appearance takes some getting used to}.That besides, and in short the distance and shot creation I have been able to pull out in the clutch with these clubs is remarkable. For example @ the final hole of my High School Championship I hit my drive out 300 yards and had 240 left uphill and around some trees. I couldnt get over the trees so I had to play a thin draw for any chance to get birdie. These irons gave me the confidence to do that with my 4 iron and I one bounced on the green for a birdie chance to go into a play-off. Bottom line, your imagination can be fulfilled with the performance of the irons. I can recall hitting a draw or fade high or low with confidence consistently. They let you play your game. A great investment by far and they dont hold you back. Not recommended unless you are confident, because they can punish you. Though, you learn what not to do quick.
