Model Reviewed: PING I3+ (3-pw), BLACK DOT

This is the only PING iron I have ever hit.I've played forged COMP EZ and MX-20 MIZUNO and feel is an intangible I always consider. I hit this PING I3+ demo 6 iron in a golf shop one day for kicks and was surprised at the solid and soft feel. It is different than forged but still solid and soft and unique to itself. I actually prefer it to forged and liked the sound at impact. I got fitted for black dot but didn't buy my clubs for another year. I haven't hit the G5 and G2 or even the old I3. These were maybe more popular PING models I've heard. Here's what I know about the I3+. The CS Lite regular steel shaft and C9 swingweight is perfect for this 47 year golfer. The forgiveness seems to be more than adequate for a golfer of my skill level. I've even got good results out of the 3 and 4 iron in this set. The 9 iron and pw are excellent aroung the greens. Oh yeah, and did I mention they're great feeling irons. I will enjoy playing these irons for a long time to come.

Okay here goes...

Ping I3+ red dot regular flex CS Precision steel shafts 3-PW.

In contrast to many prior reviewers, I have not found any loss of distance with the I3+ irons. They are classic Ping creations. Ball peen blasted finish and feel similar to other Ping irons. They are certainly a very forgiving iron.

I have found them to be accurate and the spin rate off the scoring clubs remains more than acceptable.

I'm a 3 handicap and unlike many of the reviewers I cannot hit a 6 iron 180 yards. My six with the Mizuno's MP30's and the I3+ carries 160. I see no apparent diffence in carry.

THey are very easy to draw or baby fade, but I confess that a power fade around a tree is not in the cards when it comes to this club. Baby fades (enough to suck it back 4 feet), draws, and power draws are pretty much the repertoire of these clubs.

As with all Ping irons, you cannot kill the surfaces of these PIng's even if you tried to. They are almost indestructable, excluding having them run over by your local Callaway rep.

I'm a member at one of the most difficult courses in Canada (Le Blainvillier). Fred Couples played here about 7 years ago and said that our greens were some of the fastest and most difficult that he had seen in a long time. To both stick and also to putt.

Its the only place that I know of where landing it pin high will still leave you in trouble if you cannot fade or pinch the ball. Yes, our greens are that tight. They usually roll around a 15.

So it suffices to say that these irons can stick it plenty.

In contrast to others I am luke warm on the pitching wedge. It serves its purpose but I would not necessarily leave my wife for it.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Tried out a ping i3+ set right off the rack from a used club store yesterday. The set is a ping i3+ with regular graf shafts, blue dot. I wasn't fitted or anything like that but the clubs are pretty accurate but the distance is maybe a half club shorter than my other iron set. I like the feel of the clubs and did manage to use practically all the irons. Will try them out again this Saturday but from the first time I used these clubs, I feel confident with them. The very few hits that was hit off center was accurate but alittle shorter. Can't wait to hit these puppies again.

These clubs are the best I've found. I used to change clubs at the drop of a hat but I don't see myself getting rid of these ever. I have learned through exhaustive research with other clubs, that every individual has to find the right club that works for them. Some clubs may perform better than others for very unscientific reasons. The shots I hit with these rival those of any other club I've tried and I never tire of looking at them. They have what I consider to be "classic good looks." If you're in the market for a set of clubs that are forgiving and fun to play with, maybe these will fit the bill.

Customer Service

I had Ping adjust the lie angle 1.5 degrees flat and they did it in a few days. I was impressed. They have a very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

These are the best irons for my game that I have ever played. Titleist 962's are a close 2nd. Recently switched from Mizuno MP32's which are great clubs, but too hard for me to hit consistantly. Distance are a club longer than other sets and the ball flight is much higher. I picked up 3-PW on eBay for $260 and I couldn't be happier.

I tried a lot fo clubs before settling on these.basically all clubs are the same. what makes the difference is the fitting. I play i3+ 3 thru PW, green dot, Z-Z 65, + 0.5". the shaft has given me great control. it doesn't ballon up in the air and u can put some good spin on short irons. the offset hurts just a bit in the longer irons. but the perimeter weighing has helped hit high soft landing shots. i play a 10 handicap and want to play under par. these clubs are great. chris dimarco is playing with them and he's doing pretty alright. i had hoped they had a bit more swingweight but its okay. You really have to hit every club to suit yourself.I realy like the sand blasted finish. i don't like the finish most cavity backs have; either satin chrome or these for me.although i could do with slightly smaller heads and less offset it is always better to be on the safer side.the grips are great. You can even play without a glove.i am gonna get my name inscribed on the clubs and thats great.Ping is truly the leader in custom fitting. The only thing that hurts me is to hit a fade with these clubs. draw is pretty easy. i could have done bit a workability but is okay.

Customer Service

I have been on a long search, trying many different models over the years. Ping has always been the best, and after trying even the G2, these i3+ irons are supreme. I cannot say enough about how forgiving they are. Outstanding set-up great classic look, yet retains that Ping confidence. Talk about letting the club do the work! An easy swing does it. I have finally found my way.

Customer Service

No one is better in this department than Ping.
