Ping ZING2 Irons

Ping ZING2 Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Ping: In the ZING2 iron, Karsten engineers created a higher moment of inertia, which produces greater resistance to twisting on off-center hits... the extreme perimeter weighting of the ZING2 increases the clubs' effective hitting area, optimizing forgiveness and accuracy. They feature a "leaner" more subtle profile (more standard width top line etc...) than their original "ZING" predecessors.

I have owned various Ping models and am currently using G5's. I bought a real nice set of Zing 2's on Ebay with JZ stiff shafts and, without any range time, put them into play. After a shaky first few holes, I got these dialed in. Very straight, solid as a rock. I did not find there to be much distance diffence from these and the G2's and G5's. I took a nice divot with these and they produced solid spin. The short irons look a little clunky, but they are effective. Still played on tour by Lee Westwood and have been used recently by Stuart Cink and a few others. I like them so much, they will replace my G5's in the bag. I good set can be had off Ebay for low 200's. May not be the prettiest irons, but they are effective !

When I first started to play golf I had just a little junior set of clubs. Then a close friend of mine gave me a full set of the ping zing 2 irons even though they were used they still are amazing clubs for a kid who shoots in the 80's. I am going to plan to keep them until something bad happens to them.

These are by far the most forgiving and best feeling iron I have played, and I keep coming back to them. They have enabled me to break into the 80's (even low 80's) pretty consistently on my home course. They are more precise and produce a nice high ball flight with soft landing shots.....Definitely get a set of these irons!!!!

This review is a follow-up on my first review. I've now put quite a few rounds on with these clubs, and my original analysis is quite true. Zing2's are excellent clubs. Easy to hit and are just flat straight! I hit so many greens.....I am just flat deadly 150 yards in. It's so ridiculous that I'm picky about how close I am to the pin! I'm really only happy when I'm within 15 ft. I CAN't believe I just said that!!! Only issue is adjusting to the green dots. I've been playing standard lies my whole life, so I've had to adjust my swing a bit. I hit some real fat shots once in a while when I never did before. I'm certain I'll adjust to that in just a few more rounds. In summary: If you can't hit these clubs....golf probably ain't your game.

I've tried to find something to replace these clubs for 2years (as I've owned them for 6 years) but found nothing to compare. They are still the easiest iron I've ever hit and the most forgiving and that satisfies my criteria. I will need to replace them soon as I have worn the grooves right down on some irons - so I will need to find another set of these to last me the next 6 years. Only weaknesses are slight -wedges a little bulky for my taste (not in the set now) and ping grips must be replaced. Won't say that they are ugly because how can something that works so well be ugly. A round with a shiny set of blades - now that can be very ugly indeed. Thats like going to war armed with a longbow!

First, I want to say straight out that I've only played with my Zing 2's one round. That's right, one round! So what the heck do you know about a set of clubs after one round you might ask? Well, I'll folow-up with a more extensive analysis in a few months when I can log some serious time, but now I just want to right a ship that seems to be wronged. These clubs are no way shape or form deserved of the low ratings by a few on this site. I play 3-4 rounds a month. My last four scores were 88,92,88 and 93. All four rounds were played with tour-quality RAM FX irons. I felt my accuracy with my RAM's was inadequate, as well as my short game, so after some research I switched to Zing 2's. First round: 8 greens in regulation. 4 up and downs (one with my Purespin Lob), and one HOLE-OUT from 70 yards, with a final score of 81!!!!! Was it all because of Zing's? Of course not. But hey, I've never holed-out before in MY LIFE! Fact is you make a good swing, and these things GO STRAIGHT, and distance control is excellent! Am I an expert on these clubs? No way! Are these clubs worthy of 2's and 3's for an overall rating like some have done on this site? Equally as obvious.

Customer Service

Top notch! Website is excellent, go out and get fitted. Their phone support technichians, are good too, I had several questions about changing lies, and orderig replacment clubs, and they were extremely helpful. You can still order Zing 2's brand new.

I have tried Eye2´s, i3´s and ISI-S irons before, but these are the best Ping irons, period. They are easy to set up, they sit square almost automatically (like all PINGs). Some may find these a little head-light, but that´s the way I like it. The feel at impact is good for a cast club, you know exactly where you have made contact. Distance is average, distance control is excellent, there are no flyers like I experienced with Callaway irons. I have excellent trajectory control, you hit it, the iron does it. But the best feature for a weekend player like me: these are EASY to hit! Flush hits feel like butter, hits toward the heel or toe lose a litte distance but stay dead on line, and the sole reduces the risk of hitting it fat. I changed the wedges (Eye2) because they give me a better feel around the green, on every other aspect the ZING2´s are perfect. A buddy told me he can´t fade or draw the ball with these, but who cares! I shoot in the low 80´s and I can´t work the ball sideways on purpose anyway, just like the vast majority of recreational players. Yes, the ZING2´s are ugly, but I want an iron that lets me know when I hit it well and covers up my mistakes, not an iron that looks good in the bag. Get fit at PING and grab yourself a ZING2 set!!

Customer Service

In Germany they change the lie angles at no extra cost. Very friendly and knowledgeable

purchased these a few years ago while shooting 90's and loved them. now i'm down in the 70's and still love them. very forgiving, especially the long irons, but theyll let you know if you did something wrong. ive been debating on a "better" set of clubs since my hdcp is way down from when i got these, but the zings got me here and i am hesitant to switch. funky looks never bothered me. *warning* bling factor makes you a target.

I have played golf for 10 years, trying all kinds of clubs. Never broke 100, despite many lessons. Ping zing 2 clubs transformed my game, now 90's and dropping fast due to confidence and completely diferent attitude to game. Yes, club looks strange, even ugly, but ball flies straight and really does fly, changing length calculations dramatically. You need the right ping coding. Its not pleasent to be always the last in any competition, despite effort, belief and persistance - these clubs might from other reviws suit mid to higher handicappers, but we are all passionate about improvement, these clubs are beautiful. not that easy to find now either. maybe out there there is another fellow long sufferer, try ping zing 2's and join the mens club.

I just traded my eye 2 coppers for these puppies. My eye 2s (black dot)did not fit me properly. The zing 2 is great!(green dot) I am hitting them high and straight. I have confidence setting up to the ball. I feel I can hit the green from anywhere within range no problem. I am playing the best golf of my life. I am so impressed I am going to get fitted for Ping woods. I think the custom fit is where it's at.
