Well, I am slowly becoming something of a Sonartec fan! I recently purchased the ss02 with an aldila NV75 in stiff and am absolutely delighted with the ball flight this offers. I play off a handicap of 6 with a driver swing speed of 103mph. I have always fought a high ball and am constantly on the lookout for clubs that offer a dynamic and penetrating flight. The MD by Sonartec is just fantastic! It sits absolutely beautifully behind the ball and looks massive, inspiring confidence. The IROD shaft is excellent and the feel of the shaft and head at impact is fantastic. The ball sets off low and climbs slowly (dynamic flight, not balooning like many others I have tried) to a great height. Not only is the club long, it is so easy to hit with a draw and fade and off the tee. I cannot begin to tell you how much I like this club! The ball flight is high without being too high (hello all you taylormade rescue players). It is becoming my favorite club and is excellent off the tee on those short par 4s. Go and buy one!!!

Model Reviewed: MD 19 Degree IROD Stiff

I already own a Sonartec SS-03. Sonartec as a brand are only beginning to emerge here in Ireland. When I got the SS-03 I decided to invest in the MD because I heard a lot of good things about it. The 19 Degree with the stiff shaft is weighted really nicely. I bought it shortly after I got the SS-03. I would recommend, as I did the SS-03, that you take your MD to the range and practice with it. Try different tee heights to determine the flight. You need to take the club away low, and keep down thru the ball during impact to achieve consistent results. It must be a common factor with Sonartec clubs because I have to treat the SS-03 with the same respect. Off the deck, you need to approach it the same, back low and stay down thru impact. The one area I am struggling with is out of the rough, but I'm hoping to rectify that soon. If I don't have any joy out of the rough, I'll probably take out my Taylor Made 200 Series Fairway wood and throw it in the bag again. What more can I say? A great club if you can discover the way to use it. It it takes a couple of weeks, then keep trying. My other bit of advice is, don't spend months trying to use this club. If you don't succeed, get rid of it. It will only take too much attention and the rest of your game will go to sh*t. Best of luck.

this club will take a few swings to figure out, once you have it figured out your golden. very long in regards to distance, very penetrating ball flight, will hold greens for sure off the tee, fairway shots i could see rolling out a bit...regardless. for anyone with highish swing speed and reasonably sound swing this club is a must have! i must warn you, this club is long and flies low...

Model Reviewed: Sonartec MD 17 Degree

I've been a fan of hybrids since the first Taylor Made Rescue, although that model in particular had too much draw bias for my liking. Picked up a 21 degree Nike CPR iron-wood earlier in the year and it has performed nicely, but I was looking for something that would give me some more distance and a nice low trajectory for those windy days. This club fits perfectly between my driver and the Nike club. Driver- 270 yds, but trouble keeping it straight. The Nike club is 215 with good control, can even work the ball either way. Perfect for short holes or long approaches. Stops quickly. The Sonartec is going 230-240, nice and low and runs when it hits. I play all but the longest par 4's with this off the tee, and it's solid off the deck too. I choose the Nike over this from the rough. The head size is perfect, face sets up nicely behind the ball. The club feels solid throughout the swing and at impact. High quality UST shaft. Very nice spring off the face. It is designed with a high center of gravity, so it plays differently than most (if not all) of the other hybrids out there. For those looking for a low-mid trajectory alternative that will keep you in the fairway, this is a great club. Paid $170.00 new from my local pro shop.
