WHAT A CLUB!!! I have used several forgings througout my career and this set is the absolute best I have ever hit. This is coming from a person who has owned and played Titleist, Mizuno, Hogan and even Ram forged blades. The forgiveness and control are phenominal. I have cut 5 (YES 5!!!) shots off my score since the clubs arrived. My only complaint with them is that I can't find a 2 iron to match my set. I'm very impressed with what TaylorMade has done with this product. I recommend it to ANY one who is looking for solid feel and solid forgiveness. I am a believer now. You try them, you will become a beliver too.

This club is amazing. This is the first set of forged Irons I have ever owned. I originally thought I would purchase them and trade them in with my Taylor Made supersteel set for the 300 series irons. I really liked the feeling I got when hitting the new 300 series. I decided to play a round with the X-300 FCI and immediately fell in love with them. When you hit these clubs right you know it. There isn’t a better feeling I have ever gotten from any other set. I was offered double for them and I won’t give them up. I highly recommend these clubs.

I am 59 and my swing speed is 94 with a driver. I have been playing Hogan Apex Plus with the #3 regular shafts. These irons are better because they are as long as the Apex Plus irons and have better feel. These feel like butter when hit on the club face. I am using a s-300 shaft in these and they are the most accurate irons I have ever hit. I think the reviewers that claim loss of distance need to get the right shaft in these irons. These irons just won the British open in the hands of Ernie Els.

After reading what was posted about these clubs I had to speak up and state my opinion. In terms of feel and the ability to work the ball I don't know how you could ask for anything more out of a club. Draws and Fades are easy to accomplish with a controlled swing. And I don't need to look at the club to know exactly where the face struck the ball. Distance is strong as long as you catch the sweet spot; PW 135, 5 iron 185. I'm not sure why people were complaining about the distance of these clubs. Maybe they moved the red tees back that week.

These are nice looking, but they just don''''t perform as good as they look. At least a half-club shorter than most. I''''m disappointed in this set. Email and they''''re yours for 495 shipped.

What a sweet set of irons! I was able to pick up a mint set used and absolutely love them - nicest looking set I have ever seen. Mine have the Rifle 6.5, so my draw has toned down a bit and with these, I''m just a bit longer than the Burner Tours I used to play. They feel more forgiving than other blades and definitely are a step up from a muscle-back iron. Great ability to work the ball as well. Overall, very solid feel. Can''t wait to get these out on the course more!

I guess the +'s must outweigh the -'s for a good/solid ball striker. Sorry to those who had problems hitting these fantastic prototypes. I hemmed and hawed for about 4 months about getting theses clubs. After only 3 rounds and a few trips to the range, I can't be more stoked about my next tee time. You can't deny the good looks and having a limited production iron set in your bag. Those who want or need a more forgiving/game improvement iron will probably be happier with the forged 300, but you'll also be stuck with the family truckster! These are for individuals who don't like eating at chain restauranuts when they are on vacation. Slightly larger looking at address, but I guess that's necessary for some of corrective features for the off center strikes that a 'non-blade' offers. The 6 iron through pitching wedge are dead on! The 3, 4 and 5 require a little attention to detail, especially out of the heavy rough here in SoCal... So, ok if you have a problem with distance, I doubt you should be playing forged to start with. I have not noticed a loss of distance with these clubs, rather the sweet feedback of a well struck shot, or the information that I need so I don't put a bad pass on a ball. In other words, I learn when to hit what club and what to expect. Good headwork and course management, rather than that one in a ten chance to pull off a great recovery after a stupid mistake that put me in trouble to start with. These beautifully crafted forged irons will make you a better player because you'll learn more about your abilities and gain confidence from making smart course management decisions. If you want to hit it longer and straighter, go to the range! If you still struggle get yourself those dinner plates on a stick that any monkey should be able to hit... If you're still searching, put your sticks in the garage and get yourself a new tennis racket! These clubs are for players!

I have had these irons since the first of December. I have played 21 rounds with them and I have come to the conclusion that I don't understand them at all. Like everyone has been saying you will lose yardage with these clubs. The main problem I have is that at the top of the backswing the head disappears. They have counterbalanced the head with the shaft in such a way that you lose all feel when the shaft gets horizontal. The only cure I could find was to shorten my backswing to the point that I was only swinging 3/4 on all shots. Now this greatly increases accuracy, but you can throw this trick at any set of irons with the same result, the big difference is you don't lose 10-15 yards per iron. Taylor Made should pay royalties for copping the design off Mizuno's irons. Also the way the sole is radiused is odd. I think Taylor Made tried to get too radical with the basics and they may have gone overboard. What appears at first to be a typical players blade goes A.W.O.L when put into use. There are far better irons out there at far cheaper prices. I gaurantee you Taylor Made re-tools these. I hope they make them better. These irons are like the firesole driver. Give Taylor Made a year or two and they will get it right like they did with their new 300 series drivers.

Try these if you want but I can suggest checking out Mizunos or even the Revolutions if you are on a budget.

Hopefully I can save you from making the same mistake I did.

Play well.

Those reviewing these irons are really being tough on them. How can you guys come to all these conclusions on a product that has been out for such a short period of time?? I beleive that a person really has to invest some time with a club before it can be truly understood. This also takes away my opportunity to sing all the praises I think these irons deserve. I have played hogans for the last 4 years with a 1 year switch to d.c.i's, and I have hit every major iron available. I can say this- these are staying in my bag for at least one solid year, to play through all conditions, and the entire tournament season. Then I will judge them on the merits they exhibit. I will say this- I really like them, and though they have 1 or 2 small quirks- [and honestly what iron doesn't?] the good things they bring to my game excite me on a daily basis. Great shaft, great feel, great workability, great weight, and outstanding distance control, provided you are taking a little or alot off a shot. They do on the down side seem to have a max yardage for each club, and they do not like to be stepped on- you are not gonna get a mis- hit or anything odd- you just cannot stretch an extra 5 0r 10 yards out of any iron. I have adjusted for this, that is why we get to carry 14 clubs you know. I urge readers to give these a chance, the long irons are really superb, and they are the first club forged or cast that I have ever hit that really rewards you for hitting down hard on the ball. That is an excellent quality in my opinion. ball flight is wonderful, that guy that can't spin them ought to put away the raw distance balls, or get a lesson. Go on and play with your Revolution irons. Tell me where I can meet you and I'll show you just how terrible these irons are.
