I have owned the 690's for 5 weeks now and have been very pleased. With each round and practice session they become more and more comfortable and predictable. My distance has increased 5 to 7 yards per club but a few buckets of balls and I had them figured out. I was not looking to change irons but I was fortune enough to find my specs, 2up and 1/4 long, on eBay and picked them up. I couldn’t imagine finding better sticks for $165. I can see how they lend themselves to a single handicapper because mis-hits are penalized. Inconsistent ball strikers beware. Overall great sticks.

Good forged feedback with rifle 6.0 shafts. Able to work the ball though fades are harder to come by than draws. Knock downs also not as easy because flights a bit high, which is great for long irons but not as desirable for the short irons.

I bought these irons off my friend and i absolutley love them. I get great reaction off the face. The low irons are easy to control and the long irons have a penetrating flight even at a high trajectory. As for the short irons beiing a weak loft; that is totally untrue. Unless you think you have more clubhead speed than you really do. I have no problem carrying the wedge 140+ and about 7-9 yards more as you go up a club. Great irons for all players.

Replaced Cobra 3100 I/Hs with Titleist 690.CBs and couldn't be happier. The distance control is a little bit tougher, because good shots fly so much longer with the 690s. (and bad shots much shorter) But I'm sure that this will get better as my swing gets more consistent (I'm a relative novice). Also, accuracy and feel is 10x better with the 690s. I can actually play the ball where I want it to fly (at least when I hit it well...)

One note though: the lofts on these are quite a bit weaker than most 'modern' clubs, especially with the short irons. As noted by the reviewer below (who was apparently unaware of this difference) expect to be a club short with the short irons. But this is OK...just trade in the gap wedge for a 5W or hybrid!

I got a relatively nice set on ebay for $170, and for the money I doubt you could do better.

On any given day, I'll go to just about any course and shoot in the 70's, my iron play isnt a strong part of my game. I still play irons that suit my handicap. Players irons over game improvement. That said this is my 1st venture into the Titleist (iron) market and I have to say im not overly impressed. I hear alot words like "best irons ever" and improved my game by 5 strokes. I have not found that iron to this day and to say this iron is that is far from the truth. Im not sure if the set i bought was tapered because i got them on fleebay. I wanted to like the iron very much but I simply could not due to distance consistency issues with the short irons. About a full club short of my mx-23's. My distances and ball flight were consistent in the 3, 4, 5, 6 irons.. there i have no complaints what so ever. While 8 to wedge ballooned like crazy, and felt heavy and clunky at impact. I play all my irons well back in my stance compared to most and have never had this issue with short irons, usually it allows me get that extra few yards. Not the case with these short irons, I normally hit a 9 iron 140, i had 135 to the hole and these came up 10 yards short. Im hitting the 3 iron 205 and a 9 iron 125? something isnt right here. Im guess the s300 shaft's have been tapered in the shorter irons.. because no one else seems to be having issues like this.

This is the ultimate good news/bad news dilemma. The bad news first. These irons are so good that I won't ever use another set and that means I will no longer enjoy reviewing irons. That's the bad part.

The good news. These are everything I want in an iron. Extremely classy looking, perfect mid-low trajectory (S300 shafts), buttery feel, great feedback and superb workability with acceptable forgiveness.

Usually a good set of irons is lacking something but these do not. The cambered sole make tight lies and thick rough more playable while the neutralizer dowel in the hosel dampens poor struck shots just enough to let you know you goofed without the sting.

I have only had them for a few rounds but a friend has had them for a few years and they wear great. He has over 100 rounds on them and they look nearly new.

A great set of irons, get them if you can!

These are a great set of clubs. Im 13 and have been playing seriously for 8 months. My dad is golf crazy and these were a set he got off eBay but was more impressed by other models (he plays r7 tp's now. I wound up with them about 2 months after I started playing. I was at about 20+ handicap but since I started playing with them and got new woods, wedges a putter and a hybrid. They are all top clubs and I have got my handicap down to a 5. All in all these are a great set of clubs and really bring out your potential.

The fist thing that strikes you about these irons is how clean and simple they look. they have a nice feel and weight to them. I went from x 12's to these as my game had improved considerably. ok the head is smaller and there is no off set but these are actually easier and more rewarding to hit. they set up beautifully behind the ball and the clean lines focused me on the ball strike. the odd mis hit are no worse than the x 12's but the centre hits are far straighter and feel a lot better! if you are considering the change from game imrovement to forged smaller head clubs I wouldn't hesitate!!! picked up a great set on e bay for £142. For that price why wouldn't you try them.

Im new to golf (4 months) and just recently bought a pair via eBay. Best decision ever. I know im in the 100's, but that is from 110+ pre CB's. What a beautiful club i may add. Extremely expensive clubs, but i guess you get what you pay for but i'll still have to ding them in value. They are just outrageously expensive. I paid $250 on ebay, so no real complaints here. Do yourself a favor..........
