I have been taking lessons and my golf has improved immensely with the current clubs I use. I recently attended an open day and tried many clubs, I ended up purchasing the Titleist AP1, purely because of how sweet I was striking the ball. I found that most of the balls I hit had good height and distance. I was custom fitted and am now looking forward to taking many shots off my game.

Wow.. great irons! No problem moving the ball left or right and the high launch shafts make hitting the long irons a joy. I've played irons shafted with project X's and they feel stiff or boardy to me but the S300 HL shafts have a softer feel and you get the trajectory of the project X's. Very solid feel at impact with good feadback. You'll know if you miss them or not. Offset is not extreme and sets up pleasingly to the eye. Even though they're cast, they do ding and scratch up pretty easily. IMO, definitely a better iron than past Titleist models that felt hard and harsh.

LOVE THEM! i started playing golf at the end of July 2008 and i bought a beginners set by RAM which included everything. I've been practicing all winter at least once a week and finally established a consistent swing. So i decided to upgrade and get some real irons. I got the AP1 4-PW with DG S300. I increased my distance by at least a club (probably because i was coming from a beginners set) and the feel is supreme. I finally understand the meaning of buttery after experiencing these clubs. i have a high swing speed and a quick tempo, so the S300 works great for me. i can reach 150 yds w/o any problem with a 8 iron.
When missing the sweet spot, you still get some good distance and the feedback is not too painful.

I have been playing for some time with a set of Ping I3 Blades (3 degrees up, stiff shafts). Although not a forged club you still get something of a blade feel to these clubs meaning when you are swinging well they are terrific to hit and when you aren't well....At any rate I wanted to find a club that gave me a bit of both worlds. I hit the AP1's and AP2's at my club for a couple of hours one day and decided to buy a set of AP1's (5-P, 2 degrees up) with Titlest Vokey wedges (52/8 and 58/8). Here's the kicker...I ordered DGR300 in the irons and a softer shaft in the wedges (R200). I have always played stiff shafts in my clubs because of my concern about ballooning the ball. Folks, I am pleased to say that these clubs are forgiving and give me the same trajectory of my blade like clubs. Oh, and they are longer, not monster longer but longer. As for feel...no they don't feel like a blade but they aren't mute, either. When hit it in the sweet spot they feel good. When not struck well they still give me feedback without the pain. As for playability (which for amateurs is a bit over emphasized in my opinion) I have found it is easier to knock these down than move them left or right although they can be moved a bit. Yup, these puppies go pretty darned straight!
Conclusion: if you are looking for a solid all around club with more forgiveness than the average bear these clubs will do the job.

Customer Service

Ap1 clubs pit and scratch very easy. Like from sand in grass and dirt areas. the metal is very soft. after 6 months of use 2X a week. Look like heavy use for 2 to 3 years very unsatisfied with having to replace clubs after this little use. compared to Miuzno mp35

I bought myself a pair of these irons in the middle f this years season. Little did i know that these clubs did some things that i never could do before. I went from shooting high 80's to shooting low 80's and mid to high 70's. These are the best feeling forged club that i have ever hit. I use to play a Mizuno MX-23 nd i loved those clubs but these were sweeter.

Purchased this set without ever trying them out. I know, not the best way to do it but I was able to get them at an exceptional price so I had to jump on them as I was looking to buy this set anyway. After a 2 month layoff (due to injury), playing on a blustery day, and using these sticks for the 1st time I carded a 79. Wasn't the most difficult course but I've played it before a few times and I never broke 80. These clubs have a real nice feel and were very accurate. Due to the wind I couldn't tell you whether they hit 10 yds farther and all that other nonsense but based on the result I have to recommend these. I previously had Mizuno T-3's.

I'll probably shoot a 90 next time out. Thats golf.

First of all, I had been playing with the same clubs for the past 10 years (Titleist DCI) so I know anything today would be a lot different. I got custom fit by a Titleist certified fitter and am EXTREMELY satisfied with these clubs. I ended up with the 4 through PW with the Dynamic Gold High Launch S300 stiff shafts, 2 degrees upright, and + 1/4" on the length. I am hitting the center of the club face much more consistently with this setup than with my old DCI's which were stock off the shelf when I bought them. The AP1's are about a half club longer than my old irons, but that is to be expected since the lofts are stronger all the way through the set.

They have a great feel and a very consistent ball flight/distance. These clubs want to hit the ball straight...which is fine with me! When I have tried to fade or draw the ball, it starts out moving and then straighens itself out. 99% of the time, a straight shot is what you need and is more beneficial to me than the ability to fade/draw 1% of the time. Also, as with any club, swing with a smooth tempo at 80% and you'll love how the ball jumps off the club face.

My most typical mis-hit is hitting the ball off the toe. With these clubs, the ball flight is still straight with about 80-90% of the anticipated distance. Not that bad of a result from a poor swing.

Some people might not like the top profile of the club. It has a thick top line. I myself did not like it the first time I tried the clubs, but I certainly liked the results of the shots and the feel of the clubs. I quickly decided I could live the thick top line.

I also looked at Mizuno...loved the feel on a pure shot, but not so good even on slight mis-hits. I shoot in the low 80's and felt they were a bit too much for me at this time. And at the urging of my friends at work, I looked at Ping...too clunky and no "feel" to them even though the shots themselves were fine.

Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend these clubs to anyone looking for a great feeling club that hits the ball straight.

PS I also upgraded my old Cleveland wedges to Titleist Vokey wedges (52 and 56 degrees). No comparison, the Titleist wedges are so far superior in feel, spin, and consistency it's not even funny.

Customer Service

Excellent. I received the clubs exactly 14 days after the custom order was placed.
