I'm not very impressed with these irons. They are forgiving but the trajectory is very high throughout the set. I have the DG300 shafts with a swing speed of @ 87mph. I'll be putting my ping i3 blade's back in my bag for now until I find a forged iron I like better.

Customer Service

Have not had the need, but I must say ping has always given me quality customer sevice.

This is a great iron. Too bad it didn't get as much publicity as it should have. This entry might be premature since I've only played on the course once with these clubs (recent purchase on ebay), but I was very impressed. I have the Project X 5.0 shafts on them and they together with the 704 head make a deadly accurate combo. I haven't really seen much distance gain but the control is clearly evident. The ball flight is very predictable and consistent. Surprisingly, my trajectory is still a little bit high but no loss in distance. I like the color of the head (I don't like shiny chrome heads bcuz of the glare), the shape of the head, and also the weight. This club is also pretty forgiving yet can still work the ball very nicely. Go try these out. You can get a good deal on them since they are a little older irons. I recommend these clubs to people who can make a repeatable swing and want to take their game to a new level as a "player."

I've been partial to Titleist products for some time now and I must say these clubs are some of the best I've played. I took them straight out the box (no range time) and my last few rounds have been 83, 82, 74, 82. I get to play maybe once a week with very little time to practice so I was very pleased with the results. This is a very versatile stick; I found them workable but not too harsh on the mis-hits. Mid to low handicapper should be able to handle this one; the midsize head instills confidence at set up and the more experienced player can move it around if necessary. I've most recently played the 690.cb, 762 and 762b prior to this set; the 704.cbs are by far the best mix of feel and forgiveness. I also strayed away from Titleist briefly -- I have a set of X-16 pro series irons I played with for about 2-3 months. Although the Callaways are very forgiving, they've become the back-up set; my preference right now is the 704.cbs. I'm an admitted club junkie, but this set may just slow me down for a while. Quite Impressive.... Titleist did good on this one!

Customer Service

My experience w/ Acushnet Customer Service is the main reason I've stayed with Titleist/footjoy for so long; they really stand behind the product and have gone out of their way to do so.

I got these clubs this spring via ebay after starting to play with Cleveland TA-5's two years ago. Paid $400 for practically brand new set. I really like the clean look. Standard everything - stiff steel shafts. I wanted more feedback and a club with a thin top line and little to no offset. I have not seen a significant difference in distance from the TA-5's. The difference in feedback is significant though and my ball striking has improved because of it. There is a decent amount of forgiveness. My poor swings (although fewer) end up in about the same locations as with the TA-5's. I plan on keeping these clubs in my bag for a long time and believe they will continue to help me improve. I would recommend these clubs to anyone who enjoys working on their swing and wants the feedback but still needs some level of forgiveness.

I hit Cleveland TA-2s, Hogan FTXs and Mizuno MX-23s. I thought the feed back on the TA-2s was bad. The club felt dead in my hands. I certainly liked the look of the Hogans as they morphed from long to short. The short irons are beatiful. I had real trouble hitting the long irons well though. I probably need the slightly wider sole of the 704's and I think the larger cavity provides more forgiveness. The MX-23's were alot of fun to hit. Very easy to get the ball up and more forgiving than the 704's. I didn't go with them for a couple of reasons. 1) I wasn't buying them new and probably would of had to have the lie angle adjusted as the standard set was flatter than the 704's. 2) I don't want to carry 4 wedges! The PW at 45/46 basically forces you to carry 4 wedges to keep the spacing equal up to the LW.

Beautiful clubs, much easier to hit than most "players" irons. However, when stacked up against the competition of other proline iron sets, the 704cb falls short (about 10 yards or more). I previously played Cleveland TA-7's and Mizuno MP-33s. The Mizuno's are quite tough to hit, you need to be a low handicapper to play them. So I got the TA-7's and found I loved them. Increased distance as well as forgiveness. I felt I didn't need that much of a forgiving club, so I bought the 704's. I found them to be extrenely hard feeling, as far as forged irons go. This could be because they are not made out of the same soft carbon steel which other forged irons are made out of. Also, I lost significant distance on all irons above the 6. I now play Mizuno MX-23's and am hitting the ball much longer and straighter.

Very nice set of irons. I got 3-PW in S400 Dynamic Gold, 1" overn in length, standard lie. 1-2 clubs longer than my old set. These clubs hit the ball very high and with a nice draw for me. A little hard to play knock-down shots, but I'd take the nice high draw of the long iron play anyday. Best 3-5 irons I've hit to date. They just go out with a nice high penetrating trajectory and stop on a dime. I can't say enough about them. Makes the game easier when I'm hitting 7-9 irons into greens rather than my usual 5-7 irons.

Played Ping Eye2 all my life and wasn't getting better - not able to work the ball or keep it down in the wind. My pro recommended going with an intermediate set to force me to swing better but not ruin the season. Having played with the 704s for the past few weeks and spending serious time on the range I have a much better golf swing. The feel is unbeatable when hit well and you know when you miss it. I am shocked at how much difference these clubs have made in my game. If you're coming from a game improvement set, don't expect to be able to go out on the first day and play well. But, if you want to get better and are willing to spend some time with these expect to get to the next level. The feel part of your game with be transformed in 2 weeks if you put enough effort into it. Once you get the hang of these you'll get excited to hit your approach shots because these make the ball stick. The ball does go high but can be kept low if needs be. Draw/fade the ball at will. Plan on hitting the ball one club farther if you've been playing offset clubs. If you hit irons from the tee make sure you get the 2 iron. Swing it like a driver and you'll be happy. Perfect for short par 4s demanding tee shot placement.

Customer Service

Professional. My pro went to them with the adjustments he recommended and they seriously had a 10 minute conversation with him about my swing - unreal service!

Great set of irons. I'm no fan of irons with offset, yet need some help. These are very forgiving, yet set up and look like a players club. I tend to gravitate towards clubs that have little to no offset, a thin topline, a smaller head and forgings. Titleist included all in this set! I've had other forged sets before and while I'll admit that they don't quite have the same soft feel of a carbon forging, the stainless allows for a thinner face and a deeper cavity with plenty of weight positioned low. Besides with todays softer feeling balls the difference is negligable. Still the feel is much better than cast, again very close to traditional forgings and much better than cast such as TM's LT's. These are extremely accurate and workable, a club that one can keep in the bag and just worry about the weather. Have to comment on some of the other reviews. If you are going to moan, get it right. You can get the Nip shafts of the 804's on this set. And please, stop moaning about price. These are no more expensive than comprable Mizuno's or TM etc. In fact given that they are forged from SS why should they cost less than Mizuno's or TM's cast offerings? Especially since they are priced the same, not more.

Custom ordered 2 degrees up and custom grips. Irons where delivered in one week. As a nice touch Titleist included labels that read "Custom Fit For" with my name. Classy touch IMO

Yes i do shoot in the nineties, and most people who know their stuff will probably think its preposterous i have these. But I think the whole half muscle back design is the best for my situation, since i am working hard to improve my swing and golf game with a pro. the clubs feel very nice, with a good ammount of forgiveness considering the sole is a little wider than other similar models. They are great imho to improve my swing. If my swing is incorrect, i get some feedback immediately. If the shot is good, it just feels perfect. an improvement set doesn't give this kind of sensitive feed back. Personally feel that they can be used by anyone, though true chobos(noobs) are gonna have some problems, but thats what lessons are for.

I have played many different irons (Cobra, Cleveland TA7, Ping G2, and several others). These 704's are the best ever. I wanted to play a club that made me swing the club better and it worked. I had gotten sloppy with my swing so when I first got these clubs I had some trouble with my ball striking. However, after a few rounds of golf and a few hundred balls at the range... I FOUND IT! My swing is great and my ball striking has greatly improved. These clubs were the answer for me. I have gone from scoring in the mid 80's to my best round ever yesterday 73 (2 over)_ due to these clubs. DO NOT be lazy and rely on all those so called "Game Improvement" clubs, they only make you lazy. Good clubs force you to learn how to play the game... that's where you grow. Don't get me wrong, these 704CG's do have a good forgiveness factor & you can still work the ball well. I hit them high and they (everything from the 6 iron down) stop dead on the green. I am not a long ball hitter. My swing speed is 93 and I play the stock stiff shafts well. I have NO COMPLAINTS. I highly reccommend these clubs to EVERYONE! Check your swing speed and buy the right shafts. Use your measured swing speed not your ego. A little work and your game will improve.
