I have never seen anyone go so far out of their way to warn anyone of the "danger and doom" of some cheap golf clubs, by posting multiple and contradictory reviews. After all, if I was a scratch golfer, I wouldn't give a rip about any of this. But as it stands, I am a poor golfer. In my short golf career, I have purchased and owned NEW iron sets (3-pw) of Wilson, Ram, Goldwin (3-10, PW, SW), and Northwestern (in that order), Top Flite Tour Oversized, and Top Flite XL2000 (3-pw, gap, lob). I stink as a golfer. When I went in to Wally's in Dallas last year, I went to purchase some serious clubs. After swinging many sets with up to three Wally's employees at one time evaluating my swing, they all said, "Swing the Top Flites". But I never wanted to swing them in the first place. They were (are) ugly, and they didn't fit my idea of what I wanted. After swinging them, the employees said, "Buy the Top Flites". They turned down a whole lot of profit because I had cash to burn yet they "made" me buy the cheap clubs. See, I was down in Dallas on business and went to Wally's three or four days in a row to hit clubs. They could have sold me any of the clubs I wanted (I live 1,000 miles from there), instead they sold me cheap clubs from their clearance center. Now I've told you the entire story. The ugly Top Flites were great for me. I've never changed my story. I've simply shared it with you so you would know that I was and am and will be a Top Flite guy. Dang the bad luck that my review(s) posted on this website get bad ratings and my friend's get good ones. And by the way, sorry about the Wally's advertising. I didn't mean to give them such great coverage. But they deserve a "thumbs up" for their fantastic service. I live in South Dakota. They don't owe me "squat". But they treated me great. Really great. And they turned me on to great clubs. Everyone who's hit my clubs love 'em (both my sets of Top Flites). And I golf with serious golfers. It's just that my game stinks relative to theirs. Sure I've got the cash for expensive clubs. But I bought what works for me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed these irons thus far. I practice daily and have found that these irons are very forgiving. I have the classic slicer's over-the-top swing and these irons help out tremendously. I lost a half-club of distance from my last irons but increased my accuracy by leaps and bounds. In the past ten rounds of golf I have played, I have shot 115, 110, 112, 107, 110, swithed irons, 102, 102, 102, 99, 102. In the round that I broke 100, I hit 13 greens in regulation including one putt for eagle (that I missed). I found these clubs online for $155 including a leather staff bag.

I originally had a set of Confidence irons (Bob Williams design). However, as I got better I hit a plateau where I could not break 100.

The reason for the low cost and ease of availability today is that they are no longer made, selling off old stock. I bought mine new 4 yrs ago and they ran 450.00. They are great clubs to play; forgiving and accurate without being ridiculously oversized. These were tour caliber clubs when introduced. How is it that a tour player can use these but the bozos on this web site can't. These clubs will improve your game as much as anything. You have to ask yourself how is it with all the newest greatest, technology available why are winning scores the same today as 30 years ago, with minimal exceptions. Remember ITS NOT THE TOOLS ITS THE CRAFTSMAN!!!

These irons are easily a clublength longer than my old blades. I personally find the irons quite handsome and confidence-inspiring. The feedback is a little bit muted, however, it doesn't detract from the club because the vast majority of shots go exactly where you aim! All you have to do is swing easy and let the club do all the work. These irons work great for my smooth tempo. Get these sticks if you can find them.

OK markbutz we get it. It's hard for me to believe all these bad reviews of this great club. I also can't belive somebdy named "Tiger" Johnson rates these a 1 when touring pros were winning tournaments using these clubs. I personally think this is one of the best clubs I have ever played. I have been playing golf for over 40 years and played Wilson Staffs & Titleist Tour blades for most of that time. These irons look great on set-up with the thin top line and simply outperform clubs costing hundreds more. I have tried to take these clubs out of my bag by trying newer equipment by all the big names but so far nothing has replaced this set of irons. I am currently using the R-80 muscle graphite shaft as I am now over 50 years old and my swing has gotten considerably shorter over the years, but since switching to these clubs 2 years ago I am longer and more accurate. Don't be misled by the negative reviews, this is a very fine set of irons.

Another note I gave these irons away to my father in law and he hit them for about a month and he dumped him on his son who is has only played twice, he loves them, but he shoots about 125 to 130! So I guess the bottom line is these is a good iron for people who don`t really know alot about the game, the average once a week slasher or beginner. If you have any kind of abilty I doubt very much you will like these irons!

Just an added note...these sold off the rack for over $800 when introduced...closeout prices are no indication of quality ie. Cleveland TA3s going for $199 at Sportsmart a year ago. They were priced comparable to Cleveland TA5s, Armour 845, EVOs, etc. with graphite shafts. The bargain prices currently are more reason to pick them up-if you can find them.

Like another post says...there seems to be repeat posts by the same person. I've played Pings..they feel as much like rocks as any cast clubs-nature of the beast. That said, the Top Flite's with Muscle Graphites perform. They never should have stopped producing these. Lofts are true, shafts are accurate and do not twist anymore than comparable steel shafts. These hold on approach shots as well as any Ping iron and are as accurate. Ping makes great irons-but no better than these-snob appeal would make you believe differently. I'm a solid 12 and really enjoy using these irons. I thought I'd try something that works instead of what is the most popular this week on TV ads. They can be had for 1/4 of what they sold for new-if I'd known what I know now, I'd have bought them years ago. Don't listen to the Ping and Titleist hype-the Top Flites do perform well. You could directly compare them to DCI oversize or Pings and be pleased.

i love the irons. i have used lynx for 12 yrs and i love my lynx, but the top flite gave me on the average of 15 yds per club. after getting used to the yardage everything gelled. i was pin shooting like i had a mission. i am at par or less(depending on my putting) and am very happy. one of the previous reviews reported that the clubs have a very small sweet spot and i have found that this is not the case. i have missed the 4 and still been within 10 yds of target. it must depend on the swinger. there are even times where i can trust the 3 iron to keep me in the middle where i wouldn't even think of pulling out my Lynx 3 iron. may not be my last set but a very good set to say the least.
