I just spent all day at the range with my new Wilson Fat Shaft clubs and I must say these clubs are great. Very forgiving, light and for the price they cant be beat. I shot much straighter and I must say I think I got a little more distance out of them (both grass and mat). I also liked the new Wilson Big Reds but I didnt see a whole lot of changes versus the Fat Shafts besides the $790 price tag. They are worth it but just not in my price range at this momemt but who knows, maybe I will pick those up on clearance next year!! I would suggest trying all shaft types instead of relying on what you normally play with. I like stiff flex, but am using a regular flex with these. Because of the larger shaft it tends to be a little stiffer. CANT WAIT TO GET ON THE COURSE WITH THESE BABY''s!! If you are shopping around DEFIANTELY try these clubs out!

Bought the Fat Shaft earlier this year and have had nothing but success. Without a doubt they cut 5-6 strokes off my game with improved accuracy and consistent distances, even when I did not strike the ball in the center of the club. HUGE sweet spot. I''ll play them for a long time. I also had them made 1..5" longer with no apparent change to the swing weight.

The Fat Shafts are fine clubs for beginners who can''t seem to find a groove. I could hit the fatshafts farther than any club I have tried, but that is both good and bad. My pitching wedge would start out at 150 yrds and each club would go down about 10 - 15 yards. It is kind of silly attempting a 175 yard shot with an 8 iron hoping to hit it just right. If you can always hit it just right, without sailers or chunking the ball then these clubs are for you. Consistency with the distance was my biggest issue. I used to be very consistent from 150 yards with my old clubs and would probably hit a smooth 8 or 9 iron. With the fat shafts I would have to hit a PW and hope to hit it right. It doesn''t make sense. Plus, I was carrying too many clubs because I needed clubs that would get me to the green when I was inside of 150 yards. I am not a big hitter but with those clubs anyone could be. I prefer my Cleveland ta-5''s which provide tremendous consistency in distance, and that provides confidence. If you are a beginning golfer or some one who can''t seem to get the ball airborne with any distance, than get to know the Fatshafts. If you already have game, try something more consistent. Trust me, consistency and accuracy is what you want, not distance.

I must say I am surprised that any negative reviews on these irons were posted. I took a set of demo Deep Red Fat Shafts on the course for 3 days and was quite impressed. After the demo I ordered a set and got them last week. They are more accurate than my Cobra Tour irons, especially from the rough, as they have a much lower torque and the blade is much less susceptible to twisting. I’m an average golfer with an average swing. A mis-hit with the Cobra’s would generally cost me a stroke, at minimum. A mis-hit with the Fat Shaft’s and I’m still in play with a chance to save par. I hit the Taylor Made 320’s, Callaway X-14’s and Ping I3’s but found the Fat Shafts to be the most accurate and most forgiving of the bunch. They are great clubs and live up to the hype. Next to my Ping TiSi driver this is the best investment I have ever made in golf equipment. Here is some advice on shaft flex. The Fat Shafts are much stiffer than typical shafts because the shaft is “fatter” at the tip. The regular flex Fat Shaft is equivalent to a stiff flex in typical shafts. That could be why the previous reviewer was hitting line drives. The shaft flex on his sticks may have been to stiff for his swing speed. I was hitting line drives with the stiff flex but got good trajectory from the regular flex.

AFTER PLAYING PING EYE 2 FOR 15 YEARS, I DECIDED TO GIVE THE FAT SHAFTS A TRY SINCE A FRIEND OF MINE BOUGHT A SET AND ANOTHER FRIEND IS A CLUB PRO AND GAVE ME A HELL OF A DEAL ON A SET. I GUESS I BOUGHT THEM BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO CHEAT THE GAME BY MAKING IT AS EASY AS POSSIBLE. INSTEAD, ALL I DID WAS CHEAT MYSELF OUT OF BEING THE GOOD BALL STRIKER THAT I AM.THE ONLY THING THE FAT SHAFTS ARE GOOD FOR IS HITTING LINERS ON A STRAIGHT LINE. I GUESS THAT''S O.K. IF YOU''RE A CHOP WHO SHOOTS A HUNDRED. BUT IF YOU CAN TAKE A DECENT PASS AT THE BALL, LEAVE THIS CLUB AT THE HARDWARE STORE ON THE SHELF WITH THE REST OF THE OTHER SHOVELS AND SPADES. ALSO, FOR SOME REASON, THESE CLUBS FEEL VERY HEAVY EVENTHOUGH THE SWING WEIGHT IS D2. I FELT LIKE I WAS SWINGING A FRICKIN LOG, WHICH I WAS. AND IF YOU THINK YOU CAN GET OUT THE ROUGH WITH THESE LONG FACED HEADS, GOOD LUCK. I''M TRASHING THE FAT SH_TS AND THE PINGS AND FINALLY GETTING MYSELF A SET OF REAL STICKS. MIZUNO MP-33S WITH TOUR FLIGHTED RIFLE SHAFTS. THE SWEETEST CLUB ON THE MARKET. BUT IF YOU JUST WANT TO GET THE CLUB FACE ON THE BALL AND HIT YOU''RE LITTLE POPCORN SHOT UP IN THE AIR, GET THE SORRY ASS FAT SHAFTS. I SUGGEST YOU BUY A CLUB THAT WILL CHALLENGE YOU A LITTLE. ONE THAT YOU CAN WORK THE BALL A BIT AND HAS A NICE FEEL TO IT LIKE A CLUB SHOULD. OUT

After playing on and off for over 7 years now with a cheap knock off set of irons, I have finally dedicated myself to improving my golf game. Despite the relatively high price, I decided to purchase all new clubs with the latest game improving technology. Well, I definitely have to admit that these Wilson Deep Red clubs have it. I initially purchased the Deep Red 365cc driver after testing almost ever single major new club that has come out in the last 2 years. The Wilson won out over the Taylor 360 and the Ping ISI because 1) I loved the way it looks, 2) it makes a great woosh and ping/thuck noise 3) It really does hit deep and far. To match this fat shaft driver, I almost purchased a set of Fat Shaft irons after testing out many different sets. The only other iron sets that I liked were the the Ping i3 and the Top Flite xl 2000. However, I saw that the Wilson was releasing the newer Deep Red Irons that are supposed to mirror the Deep Red Drivers. At the store they were only $100 more than the Fat Shafts. I am glad they were not the $800 MRSP. The irons are Definitely a BUY at these prices!!! Defintely cheaper than the Pings and Calloways. Also, I Gotta have the latest technology. After hitting with them in the past week, the DEFINITELY live up to the driver. They go deep and long. They are EXTREMELY forgiving. For example, I usually hit my 7 iron in graphite about 130 yards. The Deep Red 7 iron in steel hits about 145 to 150. But not only do they hit farther, they also do hit higher and straighter. I never really had a problem getting the ball aloft but the trajectory is very consistent with these irons. It starts out low then peaks about 75% into the flight with a beautiful arc and a modest roll. The forgiveness is great. I put one of those marker stickers on my iron and tried to hit off the toe and heal. They both go straight and up if you miss hit. With a off center hit, all you lose is a bit of distance. For me (a over 20 handicap golfer) these clubs are perfect. They definitely give me more confidence and lower scores on the course. However, if you are a professional who can sculpt their shots, perhaps this is not the club for you. Of course then you would probably be playing with some custom made $2000 blades.

A big lesson for a stubborn golfer (me) by Wilson Platinum Fat Shaft. For 20 years of golfing, it is long enough for me to be a very snobbish player who will play only forged blade type of iron. Since my first MacGregor forged blade given by my uncle, only two cast irons set had been in my bag, Ping Eye-2 and Wilson R Mendrella (they were sold). Other forged sets include Mizuno TP-Z, MP-14 (longest stay of 6 years with me), Cobra, Hogan, Bridgestone and many others forged iron you name it. I think I have tried enough along my golf journey. Actually Wilson has never been in my consideration of choices until the R. Mendralla. Wilson R. Mendrella was the latest cast set that I had a high hope on it after trying it out on the demo day at the range. Well, the R Mendralla stayed in my bag for only 6 months before I discovered the older and better made of Wilson “RM Tour forged midsize”. Too bad that I was too stubborn to try its ugly cast oversize new Fat Shaft iron with platinum steel. RM Tour forged Midsize did make me sell the Mizuno MP-14. I though I had found the best forged club. Yes, the R Mendrella is not up to my standard, another cast club fail again even though it is much better than the Ping I3 Blade. Boy oh boy, just because I was using that my friend Platinum Fatshaft to show him how I swing, I was hooked just by the first hit. As for a few hits later, it didn’t look that ugly anymore. My review of the platinum new Fatshaft here may be a bit orthodox to many others who say that this New Fatshaft Iron from Wilson has no feeling. I agree totally if it is with the Hypercarbon shaft. BUT IT WILL BE A DIFFERENT STORY WITH THE PLATINUM SHAFT!!! Both feel and result of this new Fatshaft platinum steel are top NOTCH!!! And who say it cannot curve the ball? Considering I have been playing with forged blade and love to manipulate the ball, I am not joking that I have no problem curving the ball using this new Platinum Fatshaft iron. Only problem to me is that it is a bit difficult to hit it low or a knockdown shot (I think I have to learn to do it differently). The better points that make me by this new Platinum Fatshaft are 1. It is very very very easy to hit the ball in any lie condition, even your swing is not a perfect one (and who swing a perfect 10 every time?) 2. Distance, mannnnn distance is an eye opener, almost tw

Fatshaft is one of the best clubs!!! if you have problems with these clubs, check the following.... 1. fatshaft are stiffer than what you might think of a "stiff shaft". Go with the regular and it''ll produce smooth effortless STRAGHT shots. 2. graphite or steel If you think yourself as a good sportsman go with the steel if not graphite.lot of weight difference between these two. 3. fatshaft or fatshaft tour cast I tried both and fill more comfortable with tour cast. it is hard to find them now. but if you find them go with the tour cast for long run. "a player''s club" and cheapiest, forgivinging, great looking mid size clubs that you''ll find. 4. if this doesn''t work. please go see a PGA teaching pro. it''s not the club. it is your swing that needs changing. 5. for much better player only down side for better players would be less feeling in short games. 3 thriughPW i would still recommand but for SW and LW it''s you choice. 6. why wilson for players who shoots from low 80''s and low 90''s will benifit big time.and beginners... 7.what about other golf clubs. a.callaway (for easy players espesially good for woman) b.titliest ( for players with willing to make shots and control the ball) c. ping ( must buy custom fitted ones or you''ll regret , for moderate good player who''s swing is defined in certain pattern. this club will rock!) d. mizuno blade( the ultimate golf club for accomplished player) I sure you that you''re swing will change unless you are a scratch player. play the right clubs that fitts you''re game. benifit from the club that spose to do which it was designed for . wilson fatshaft is for going straight. and draw... it is hard to make a slice. and for last ..... if you buy this clubs full price DON''T. there are lot of web sites that give you really good price for this club.

These clubs are the ultimate in sheer crapness. Any golfer who buys these must have an IQ of around 2 or maybe 3. All the fatshaft advertising pants is so much mince, it is like walking on the first tee with a set of spades in your bag. The club I would say is worth about a fiver, and there is no technology to it. In fact you are probably better off buying a set of spades than these sh*ters
