Wilson Fi5 Forged Irons

Wilson Fi5 Forged Irons

DESCRIPTION

The Fi5 series is designed in the time-honored tradition of forged clubs, with thin top-lines and sole widths. 8620 mild carbon steel is used for maximum feedback at impact. The reward the play of advanced shot makers, the weighting of the Fi5 progressively moves the CG location from lower in the long irons to higher in the short irons. This is accomplished by concentrating weighting in the sole of the long irons, perimeter cavity back weighting in the mid irons, and pure muscleback weighting in the short irons.

Strength:

The great part about the Doc is not only it had a highest MOI of the 3, but it has the feel of the classic steel ping. Which felt alot like my steel answer which i had before the DOC. All in all, a great club. If your in the market its worth a tie, I strongly recommend it. air filter replacements Nashville

Better players are drawn to the classic Wilson muscleback design renowned for its delicate balance of sleek look, soft feel and shot-shaping ability. A closer look reveals this modern innovation: a slightly larger head, a lower muscle slot and a wider, cambered sole. The '62. A modern classic.

I have played with Mizuno TZoid MX-20 down to the current level about 2-3 handicap. I hvae just started playing the Wilson Fi-5 forged irons.

My thoughts
DOWN SIDES
lose distance no doubt at all. PW TZOID 130 - PW Wilson 115. Harder to hit - after 6 holes was ready to give up. Bladed PW-8 irons do not have much distance difference between them.

Sounds bad but after 27 holes they are growing on me

UP SIDES
- 3 iron (and other low irons) not too bad to hit - good results
- Wayward PW now replaced by very accurate 8/9 irons - distance for accuracy compramise
- 2 iron off tee find of my year - 240 years easy to hit great shape
- Lovely shape to shots - similar to pros just watched at Wentworth

MX-TZOID warrant 5* rating

Wilson Fi5 - as long as you are happy to sacrifice distance and can learn to swing well - they have great potential.

Fist trial day summarised for me on tough par 3 - usually hit 9 iron and very rarely make birdy with old clubs - 3 balls off tee with 7 iron and all within 6foot = 3 birdies

Undecided but def have something which is drawing me to persist

I really loved these sticks! Despite the fact that these are forged players irons and I shoot around 100....I took these to the course the other day, still had the platic wrap...and did'nt even go to the driving range first.....I was throwing darts!! 7I through PW were right on line and were landing 3-8 feet from the flag! The long irons didn't work out as well...but normally I hit hybrids instead of long irons. Before the round I apologized to my playing partner because I hadn't played in 6 months, had never played a round with these clubs, and these clubs were supposedly way above my level. Well, after three holes he thought I was full of crap and was sandbagging on him!! I was as shocked as he was! I often laugh on the course but usually at my errant shots.....this time I was smiling the whole round. Amazing.

I was always around 100 on my rounds until i played the fi5 irons. They have a great appearance at setup and when you catch that sweetspot, man are you rewarded. Even on toe or heel hits iget distance and even more i get feedback on what and where i went wrong. honestly best set of irons i have used. i'm consistently in the 90's now.

I should first note that I'm better than scratch. Read on because you're hearing a review here from one of the most solid ball strikers out there. I took these to the range and went through my standard routine. I hit a few 110 yard darts with the PW and then went all the way up to the 3 iron. I was hitting the 200 yard sign by the end of my session. Needless to say I'm good; however, these irons will make me even better and unstoppable in the CC championship. Yes, I belong to a country club. I'm good and lucky. If you can't break 80 don't bother with these sticks. They are too good for you.

This is a re-post due to iron re-shafting. Had my Fi5s reshafted with TT Black Gold X-Flex pulled from my Titleists. Best move I ever made. Took a buttery smooth iron and made them more consistent. I would recommend anyone with this set of irons to throw some top line shafts in them to realize their maximum capabilities.

These clubs are really hard to describe. They are my first set of forges irons, and i will NEVER use anything but forged from now on. They may be a BIT harder to hit than clunker cavity backs, but i think you're either on, or off that day. They are pure heaven to use. The combo of workability and playability is excellent! They give you a real appreciation for being able to work the ball. when you are swinging decent, You wouldn't trade for anything. What I did to make them a bit more enjoyable for a mid capper, was to pull the 3 and 4 for a couple hybrids, in the long irons. PERFECT COMBO ! The progression from cavity to muscle back is really nice. I have some cleveland cg14's that I really liked, but i had to get the forged wedges to match the feel of the rest of the irons. Again good move, you WILL want that forged feel in the wedges! Thet are really goog wedges too! Well, to top it off, the price was great! a little over $200. GOLF IS SO ENJOYABLE WITH THESE CLUBS 11

Bought these on e bay for 209.00 9/10 condition wise. Clubs came 3/4 overlength which is good as i am oer 6ft. Immediatley went to range and hit these. First shot was a 8 iron apporx 170yrds. I was sold. Clubs easy to hit, require some concentration, they are blades, but i absolutely love them. I play the Staff Di7's great club but a bit too bulky for me. inotice some guys on here say they lose deistnace with these, that may be fair to say on the shorter irons. My old PW was 44 degrees, these are 47 so expect some distance loss to beefed up cavity backs. Overall, from 7 iron to 3 iron, no distnace change, just better ball flight, and by hte way, did i mention how good these clubs look? I also bought the FW6 wedges, 3 of them for 75.00 o ebay, brand new...my set is complete...I am very happy with these irons, i would give them a 5/5. I was looking at Mizuno but was far more impressed by these.

I wanted to go back to a more bladed design like my old Henry Hatton's. I found these clubs brand new in the box on Ebay for just $170 all in. I love them to bits a little shorter on distance i would say but the ball stays on line from the moment its struck, which is what a proper golf club should do. The clubs are quite upright and i only had to have them bent by 1* rather than the usual 2* (club fitter analysed me) surely there is not a better kept secret than these clubs for the money.

I have to agree with previous posters also. You catch yourself just staring at them as they are a true thing of beauty!

5***** good job Wilson these irons are perfect.

Hope that helps someone.
