These are similar to Staff Tour Blades",all they have is "Staff" on the toe.The shafts are original reg. flex.shafts
Staff blades set up easily with no "offset",a feature i am finding to be a distraction on newer"game improvement" irons.
Distance is about one club shorter throughout the set, however hitting cuts & draws as well as high & low trajectory shots is acomplished easier than with "perimiter weighted"clubs.I enjoy golf more with these irons.Of course, forgiveness is not their strong suit.Blade irons are all about feel & control, these are still not bad.Try a set!

Model Reviewed: 1957 Wilson Dyna-Powered

Have been shooting in the mid to high 80s lately. I decided to regrip and play my grandfather's wilson blades that he bought in 1957 for $200. All I can say is they don't make clubs like this anymore! I shot an 82 today on a course I've never played before with these. They are about 2 clubs shorter than my Callaway's, but the shafts are shorter and the lofts higher. They are very easy to feel because they're heavier. Extremely accurate clubs! This whole you're not good enough to play blades unless you're scratch or near is laughable. The big companies that churn out cast clubs are a big reason for this. Sure they have a smaller sweet spot, but they're are some great aspects to these that offset cast cannot match. They are now in the BAG!

Model Reviewed: 89 Fluid Feel logo

The Mizuno mp-30's and 37's are great, the Hogan Apex's too, though more demanding. The Wilson Fluid Feel 89's are just right. With DGS300's it's almost hard to believe how good they are. Staff Tour Blade "line over" blades with the DG stiff are good, but not as. I suspect the shafts are the difference. Just because they are old and out of favor with the pros who can play anything and use what they are paid to endorse is no reason to pay $500+ for irons. Sure, after awhile it's all about the chipping and putting , but if the irons are just right then it's only about the putting. Good approach shots with everything from 5 to PW and reasonable putting led to a 77 on one of my first rounds with these.
Dynapower 65's look great, but shafts were too stiff so I sold them. I'm getting a clean set of fg-17's reshafted with rifles and will post my opinion later. I'm not an equipment junkie, I could quit anytime.
But why? At these prices you can't really hurt yourself.

Model Reviewed: 1965 DynaPower Irons

Six years ago I wanted more of a 'players' club so I purchased a set of Cleveland forged TA3 FF irons. I was at that time told I should stay away from blades and go with a forged cavity back to because they were more forgiving. My game did improve and I became a better ball striker.

Recently, I have been looking at forged blades (Mizunos, Titleist, etc) when I was told to try out some vintage clubs. Well, I purchased a set of 1965 DynaPower irons on ebay for $19.99. They are in great condition. I eagerly took them to the range and was shocked that I could not only hit them, but actually hit them well. I was able to hit draws, fades, high, low, etc. A couple of my range buddys were amazed that I was hitting these 40 year old clubs so well. I did notice that they are about 1 club shorter than the Clevelands (7 iron instead of 8 iron from 150).

I just played my first round with them yesterday and shot one of my lowest rounds in a several years. Great feel, very responsive, and great control. The ball stops on a dime.

So, the question becomes, do I get rid of the Clevelands? Well, I certainly sorry that I paid $600 for them.

hi i would just like to add this review as it has been mentioned before thet wilson fg55 dont exist,i have a set 2-sw which i have had 12 years i bought them s/h from a local golf pro !i also have been able to find no information about these irons either in the uk or the usa but i can tell you they are awesome clubs and look just like nike blades, mizuno tp 11.
I am a 4 handicap and i switched to blades when i was a 15 handicap and i cannot put it all down to these irons but i do find they are better out of various lies are more consistant in distances,i have had ping eye2,zing2 tommy armour 845 and callaway x14 to try and upgrade but what i have found is i hate the look of the cavity backs(too thick)and the offset is horrid !!!i have just reshafted my blades with dynamic gold s300 (sensicore)and they are cool.
scott.
in my opinion it is no coincidence that the best player(players)in the world use blades also.tiger, ernie els, davies love, adam scott, john daly, jack nicklaus etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Model Reviewed: Staff tour blades fg-17

Have been playing Staff tour blades fg-17 for 25 yrs. The groves on my blades wore out and the chrome on a couple of irons was peeling off. All my golf buddies tried to get me to "update" to a new modern set. My response is how can you update something that is already perfect. I had the lofts changed stronger and am currently rebuilding them w/tour chrome, rifle shafts, cord grips, and regroved. I will die with these clubs.

Picked up a set off EBAY. $38.00.Lofts slightly higher than the newer cavity backs I normally play with. These clubs are a real pleasure to hit. I know that the miss hits are not as forgiving as the newer clubs, but the good shots that can be made with these irons more than make up for that. Laser straight and an inspiring trajectory make me wonder who hit that shot? I originally bought them just to stick in the trunk for an extra set if I needed them, but now I will use these as my primary irons. I am re-gripping to a softer and bigger grip, but that is a small price to pay to see some of the shots that come off these clubs. If you have been scared to hit a forged blade because of the size or because you think you will be spraying them all over, forget it. Try out something like these FG 17's and you really wont regret it.

i am a 12 year old boy and have been playing golf since i was 5. my handicap is 6.4 and my lowest score is a 69. i play every day and if you play less than 3 or 4 times a WEEK, stay away from these clubs. They are very sweet on quality shots, but toe hits go mabye 20 yards, tops. easy to shape at high swing speeds. less than 100 with driver, forget about it.

I am a bad golfer. My swing is inconsitant and I just don't hit the ball well. With thi slogic, it would make sense that I shouldn't be playing forged clubs, right? WRONG! These clubs have been fantiastic for my game. Not that they improve my mis-hits, but because they help me self-diagnose what I doing wrong. THere is nothign more satisfying than feeling the blade cut through the rough (in the rough because I can't hit my woods, but thats another story) and watching my ball sail through the air.

I went out yesterday and was planning on laying up behind a creek about 140 yards out. I smashed my 8 iron and ended up in the water. I may have lost a ball, but there is nothing more satisfying than hitting your ball straighter and further than you thought possible. As Chuck pointed out, plenty of people learned on forged clubs. These clubs will help you develop a strong and powerful swing instead of trying to disguise a defective one.

I picked mine up from a store used about 2 years ago for about 180 bucks, but you can get them much cheaper from eBay. Definately keep them in mind.

Model Reviewed: Wilson Staff Tour Blades

I've been playing blades for the past several years and have collected and sold off about 30 sets from Mizuno MP 32s to Daiwa DG201 (Ian Baker-Finch won the British Open)-- and I would rate my 1968 model Dynapower/fluid feel as the best of all of them. Especially, I want to contradict the recent reviewer who says the FG55 are too difficult. First, I've never seen a 55, Ironfinder.com has no record of them. Wilson makes no mention of them or of a Langer set. From my research the last set of full blades made by Wilson was in 1993. The current Fi5s are blades only in the lower irons. It appears that the closest thing to an FG 55 is the FG 51 or FG 53 goose neck. The 51s are fairly standard dynapower style. So? I have some doubts about whether 55s even exist or were ever for sale to the public, etc. So, why review an albatross? In any event, the tour blade is top notch.
