I'm a new addict to this great game, and am slowly putting together my first REAL set of clubs. After spending hours trying out about 20 different putters, I thought I found the one I liked. The odyssey had a nice solid feel that wasn't too soft like the white hot. But that all changed when I took it out onto the green. The insert was still much too soft for my tastes and did not give the feedback that I desired. Lag putting was difficult as I felt I really had to "smack" the ball. The insert definitely feels firmer than the white hot, but comes off the face very muted and dull. The sensitivity was just not there for me. I highly recommend those who are considering this club to try it on the green first. It feels good in teh store, but is different for longer puts on grass. The weight and feel of the club is great. Well balanced and solid, this putter is comforting to hold. The single white line makes for a simple uncluttered guide, making it less distractive than many of the gimmicks out there today on other putters. I returned this putter the next day in favor of the Never Compromise TDC 3.2, just what i was looking for.

Model Reviewed: Odyssey DFX 1100

The DFX 1100 mallet has really helped out my putting. This club will help anyone consistently put better as it is a well balanced club. I find myself hitting 3-10 foot puts on a more regualar basis. My decision came down between the 1100 and the White Hot Rossie. The White Hot's insert seemed too soft to me and I was able to be a little more aggressive with the harder insert in the DFX 1100. The grips on most of the Odyssey putters are different and I found this one to be the most comfortable. I would recommend this putter to anyone who wants a new putter or to improve their game dramatically.

Model Reviewed: Odyssey Dual Force 990

I was in the market for a new putter last year, and spent an unreal amount of time testing out all the putters in the local golf stores (I use the plural here, becuase I wanted to try everything). Initially I went into this thinking I would walk away with the hottest new thing, scotty cameron, whitehot, or a 2-ball, however it quickly became aparent to me that this cheaper odyssy dual force was equal to or better than many of the big boys. I have a very straight back and through stroke and found that the 990 head model felt particularly balanced with this type of motion. I cut it down to 33" and placed a golf pride tour wrap grip on it. Before I particularly struggled with mid to short putts in the 12-4 foot range. Since getting this putter a year ago this is now my favourite length putt. Now when I read a line and putt it, it actually follows the line, and I get what I deserve based on my green reading. The black insert face I found to be very consistant and easy to judge distance be it long or short. The feel is a little softer than a milled steel face (although the cameron's steel feels just as soft), but not as soft as the mushy white hots. Roll also appears to be ver good, with no hopping or bouncing of the ball off the clubface. The two ball felt very good in terms of balance, but that white hot face didn't fit the bill. The Cameron Pro Platinum Laguna was just as good, but close to $200 more with a lot of maintenance required for the finish. Similarly the Ping Isopure (series 2 or 3 i think) felt great but was also a lot more cash. Teardrops were pretty good as well, but sometimes putts came off with a little two much speed (topspin almost). If you're in the market for a forgiving, accurate, consistent, putter and don't mind playing something a few years past prime take a look at this one, and it won't cost you a fortune either. By the way since picking this club up my index has dropped 8 strokes, in a little over a year. It'll be in my bag for a long time.

Customer Service

No one beats Dave Richardson's service. As far as Odssey goes, I tarnished the face using an unsuitable solvent cleaner, and odyssey refinished it for me, no problems.

Traded in my Never Compromise Z Theta putter in for this one about a month ago looking for a putter that was more responsive and I think I found it! I've only played one round with it but felt pretty good about the way it played. This putter has the stronomic insert which covers more of an area on the putter head than on the Dual Force putters which allows for more forgiving putts. I was trying to decide between this and the White Hot #1 and ended up choosing this one because I felt it performed better for my type of putting stroke-more firm and less soft. The WH #1 just felt too soft.. Plus the DFX is a dang good lookin' putter and that's important! Because if you feel good with the club you're playing with you'll play good! It looks great in the bag and you can tell a lot of TLC went into the design..I haven't seen any new reviews of this putter under Odyssey and the only place I felt my review would fit would be this section..Hopefully over the next few months, others will have discovered this putter and offer their opinions as well..In the meantime I'm still feeling it out and will post a more updated report in the near future!! So far I love it!!

I tried a friends Odyssey DF two years ago, and fell in love with it. Have since been searching for a reasonable cost on one. The feel, the weight, it's all perfect.

As you do with putters, it comes to a stage where you just need a change. I tried loads and loads and then found this in the back of the shop in the second hand bin.... It was cut down to buggery at 32 inches which is only a half inch shorter than "Old Faithful". but short enough for the guy to give it to me for $35. Anyway.. most well made putters have consistency of pace off the face and this certainly had that. In my trials the white hot was the only putter to match it for consistency. It takes a technically good stroke to get the best out of this putter but the stronomic insert.. when used correctly.. gives an early rolling ball which keeps your putts online longer (an inertia and cerifugal effect). If you pull it.. or push it (your put that is) you will find the pace consistency off the face will leave you level with the hole for an easy tap in and not yards short as with some other putters. This putter gives genuine feedback through the face which in other putters can be too hard.. eg ping steel or too soft eg fisher. This is in the middle and gives you great confidence. Bottom line... these putters are coming very cheap second hand from all the white hot upgrade people.. but it is still a top quality putter at a fraction of the price. Used putters are just broken in... don't get caught up in the hype.

A great putter. Easy to line up to the target line, heavy head so you can use a short, smooth stroke, and very little twisting of the club head. Those 5 footers are a piece of cake now.

I upgraded from an STX putter to this dual force. This is my first real year of golfing and noticed an improvement right away switching putters. I have much better control now and in turn have more confidence. Have not tried many different putters but I really like this one so I am sticking with it.

Wow. What a club. My putting was suffering and really letting my scores down until I tried a friends 2-Ball. Every putt seemed to go in, or very close. The week before I took 34 putts with my old putter. On my first game with the 2-Ball, I took 27. The feel is excellent and lining up the putts is easy. So easy, it feels like cheating. The club gives me so much confidence over the ball. Something I haven''t had while putting for a long time. The only problem with it is the price. It''s £150 (about $211) over here in the UK which is a lot to pay. When you consider that it''s the club you use the most, and most people pay twice that for a driver, then it''s worth it. If you are struggling with putts and don''t mind a large, strange looking putter, then try it. I guarantee you''ll play well with it.
