After only learning how to golf for a year now, I recently decided to upgrade my putter. The Ray Cook Blue Goose IV helped my average from 100s to the upper 90s. I rarely have 3 putts anymore and I'm working on averaging under 2. My particular BG IV has a pixeled polymer insert which is bit harder than the standard black one, but I get a much better feel for distance with it. Also this newer model only has a single bend in the shaft rather than the double "S" bend of previous BG IVs.
I took a whole month of trying out putters at numerous stores, reading reports and reviews, but Ray Cook just stood out, I as well as my PGA instructor strongly recommend these putters, especially the Blue Goose Line.

This putter feels too heavy, & doesnt set up well. Ive had trouble aligning it. Seems to want to pull left one inch in six feet. Although it is face balanced, once you put your hands on it it never feels quite right. I went back to my old putter and cut 4 stokes off my scores. Save your money.

On a recent visit to the local golf store, this putter seemed to jump out at me apart from all the others. It appeared as a small version of a blade, which was thin in width, but had the same length as a normal blade putter. The putter had a striking dark oil can finish, and after taking it out and stroking the ball a few times, the feel was smooth, but very responsive. The gold alignment line stood out well on the top of it, and as long as care was taken to keep the backswing on line, the ball fell perfectly in the cup from a distance of 15 feet. The product is excellent for distance, but is slightly unforgiving on off-centre hits. The price of $80 sets it in the mid range of putter prices, and iff you suffer from distance problems, or just want to take out something flashy on the greens, it is a worthy purchase.
