When I bought this club (new), most of my wealthier friends were using Odyssey two-ball things. To me they looked ugly, and it looked liek they were overtly cheating. I imagine all those years ago the rules of golf never thought someone would come up with a design like that. Anyhow, I bit the bullet, bought the Scotty Cameron, and despite being a higher-handicapper, then continuously whipped their arses when it came to putting. Enough said!? This might well be the best putter ever made; I'm not even sure Scotty Cameron even came up with anything as good ever again.

Oh..erm...well. I tried, quite a few times, the Odyssey 2-ball thing (the original one - can't imagine it got that much better with time) obviously; also TaylorMade (Rossa I think it was called?) and Ping things (sorry I can't remember their names - sold / lost / borrowed / thrown away in frustration!). Some nasty Wilson broom handle that came with my first clubs. And a Hippo (well named?). I think that's about it... oh no hang on, some Nike thing that I seem to recall felt like a glass brick. The TaylorMade was probably best of the rest.

Absolutely perfect. Simple sighting, perfect flow, gorgeous feel. Every last detail has been thought about, from the silky beaded-looking finish to eliminate glare, to the gently milled face, to the beautiful grip. Every time I take this out of the head cover I feel like I'm using a special thing, a combined work of art and engineering. I am sure it made an instant difference to my putting, and has continued to make me better eery round for some years now. There may well be never another putter this good. If you have one, I recommend you don't ever sell it (keep it as an heirloom!); these are as rare as hen's teeth and I've seen them being sold second-hand for quite extraordinary prices. I've had this putter for approx 10 years, it's been used in all weathers and conditions, it still looks like new, and appears to be worth much more now than when I bought it! Go on, buy a Scotty - I doubt you'll regret it. PLUS - I'm sure people I play against suffer from nerves when I get this putter out.

Customer Service

I can only comment on the customer service when I ordered mine from Scotty cameron in the USA. I recall they were very professional and I received the putter within a couple of weeks of ordering.

This is a great putter that lives up to its expectations. I'm a pretty good putter and the weight and feel of this putter is sensational. Now almost every putt i have within 5 foot feels like a gimme. I love this putter and am about to try out and maybe buy a scotty cameron newport 2.6

This product does not live up to its expectations, and not to mention its 300 dollar cost. The feel is definitely not what I was expecting from a scotty cameron. I often get a glare from the sun off of the back of the putter that is horrible in the morning. The grip that titleist installs is terrible too. I take my short game seriously and this product definitely did not seem to help.

This is not going to be a long review, why! It is just a putter. I have a reputation as a good putter but in the last 18 months it has gone down hill a bit, mainly over those shaky 18 inch to 2 footers. I have always putted well from 4 foot out, but lately have been missing a lot of shortish puts. Tried a few different putters of varying brands and styles. Picked up this Cameron Newport 2.5 putter on Ebay for a good price and am impressed with its feel and unlike one of the other reviewers I like the soft "Buttery" feel this has when it hits the ball. I find it encourages you to strike puts slightly firmer than I normally would have. Looks good, well made, good balance. The thin grip takes a little getting used to, but overall making those short ones again. Inspires confidence and really thats what it is all about, was well worth what I paid. The good thing is that if you want to sell it later, they hold there price really well.

I have always struggled with my putting so I bought a Scotty Cameron after using various other putters. The most simular putter i used was an oddessy white steel putter which I liked fairly well. The Scotty has much better lines and feels so good in your hands. Before I would get over a putt and hope that I would just get it close now I have confidence that where I aim it will go and the feel at impact is amazing soft but crisp and the ball rolls very good. before my ball would skip and check up somtimes that never happens with the scotty.

Is there any particular reason that Titelist insists on using a pencil thin grip on this overpriced putter? Feel and distance control are not what one would expect from a putter priced this high. Found the new White Hot Steel #2 and it is clearly a better putter, not to mention saving well over a 100 bucks.

i have had this putter for two years and i can honestly say it hasnt done anything wrong. for one reason...if something goes wrong it aint the clubs fault it is yours. i am often referred to as 'the best putter at my golf club club' since i got this club. i love the design of it. it is just like the oddessey white hot #2. i have noticed a couple of other people have mentioned this and when i went to buy this club i created a shortlist of putters that i wanted to buy and they were the two! in the end i chose this. i have just been on the ping website and they are launching a new G5 series. they are releasing a putter called the G5 Tess. it looks superb. like a phil mickelson putter. i am going to try it out but i dont think it will beat this beast. the balance of this club is second to none and the same for the feel it is brilliant. putts within 10feet of the hole seem like a putt 10cm from the hole honestly. worth the hefty price tag!

I have played this putter for 2 seasons now and I play 2-3 times per week. Great looking and sets up nice. I am not the best putter in the world and if I putt poorly- over 30 putts-then I cant score. Recently I took the Cameron out of my bag and replaced it with my old original Ping anser-the copper looking one. All I can say is the Cameron has a "dead" feeling. The Ping just feels better. Period. The Cameron has a longer blade and a swept neck compared too my Ping, but the feel of the Cameron is just not there. It feels solid but dead. The only way I can describe it is it feels clunky and dull. I really want to keep playing the Cameron but my last two rounds 76/77 were both with the Ping and both were under 30 putts. In conclusion, for me, the feel is just not there with the Cameron and putting is all about feel and confidence. The Scotty does look nice in the bag, with the bright red cover and has that wow factor, but in the end, I'll take a 75 over an 81 any day of the week. my Ping.

How can one possibly justify spending $200 bucks on a darn putter? I'll tell you why. Because putting is almost all feel and I feel so damn good when I hold my puppy Cameron in my hands. Hi, I just bought an used (practically flawless) SS Newport 2.5 36 inch putter on Ebay and I have now played my first two rounds. Already, my putting average is @ 5 fewer per round vs. my old Odyssey. Ok, it's only two rounds but I can only get better with practice. This baby feels so solid. At first, I felt a little awkward about the narrow studio design grip (I have big hands) but now I actually feel that it helps me grip softer and it gives me more feedback. I'm confident that the putter putts true so I just line up and focus on a smooth pace and hitting it in the center. When I do, I come damn close if not in. In my mind, good high-end putters, like the Camerons, are under-priced relative to high-end drivers. There's no way those drivers are worth twice as much when you can save 10 strokes between a Cameron and an also-ran. There is no 10, let alone 20, stroke difference between a high-end driver and an also-ran. The only two negs I have are the cover and the place for the divot tool. I don't like red in my bag and the tool falls out far too easily. Cameron needs to do better than that and take an OGIO approach to designing new head covers.... Step up and pay a little more and be like me....I just can't wait to get to the dance floor. The rest is just fore-play.
