Model Reviewed: Dunlop Custom Tour

Ive always been loyal to the Maxfli brand over the past 10 years - loved the Revolution, A10 and the old Maxfli HT - I had half a season using the Callaway HX Tour - great ball - just doesnt last more than 2 well struck short irons a round - which is annoying.
I found one of these Dunlop Custom Tours at my local course in Illinois and simply threw it in the bag for a rainy day not thinking too much about it.
Well I tried this ball about 8 weeks ago and was pretty impressed with the way it reacts.
Great distance, durability and good control off short irons with a decent click off the face.
Now one thing that I have found is that you dont get the same spin off 60 yard shots and in, and the control around the greens isnt great - but check is pretty good.
Also the ball is fairly hard for pitching and putting - something which Ive gotten used too over the last few weeks.
The best thing about this ball though is the consitency. The ball will stop from rough and the fairwayand if you do need the ball to back up just hit down on it hard and it will spin back a little. The reaction on the green reminds me of the old Precept EV extra Spin ball from years ago.
Plus the price is pretty good - worked out at just over $6 per dozen from ebay.
All in all a good consistent ball though if you like the feeling of a soft ball go elsewhere.

Similar Products Used:

Reaction to the green similar to Precept EV Extra Spin and Nike One Black - grips nicely but dont expect lots of backspin -very hard feeling golf ball though.
