Nike One Platinum Balls

I played three rounds with the Platinum. This ball spins incredibly well off of mid irons to wedges. and has a nice mid-high flight off of my Halo hybrids (3 and 4 iron halos). Great feel off of the putter. It's difficult for me to comment on the driver because I hit my driver very inconsistently.

I am most impressed with wedges. ball just stops on 30 yd pitches with my lob wedge. and a lot of my low wedge shots skip and stop. I am used to these shots hopping and rolling.

The only fault I see is that this ball spins so much that irons into the wind play a lot shorter than I am used to. I am sure it is me because I usually don't play premium balls and I don't know how to control spin.

The 06 versions of these balls can be bought for around $30. For $5 more than my usual ball, e6, I think I'll be playing these until I can't find them at $30/doz

Model Reviewed: Nike One Platinum Golf Ball

I started playing on a more regular basis about four years ago and have always used Titleist balls, primarily the Pro V1, with a fair amount of satisfaction of the ball. I played the X for a short time but did not like the hardness of the cover and I was not sure my swing speed could really utilize the ball. I picked up a dozen of the Nike One Platinum balls a couple of weeks ago and I think I may permanently switch to the ball. I liked the many facets the ball can provide to you, be it off of the tee which may have been a little longer than the Pro V, the feel of my irons, the penetration and stability of it into the wind, and the softness around the greens. I purchased them because they were on sale and now I think this will become my ball of choice, not that the Pro V1 is not a good ball also I just like the feel of this one a little better.

very disappointed wit this ball i was honestly expectin more CONTROLLED performance from it.but once again on the first 30yard pitch with my titleist oil can the cover ripped straight away.IMHO callaway tour and 56 will offer way more to your game than this ball.also on some greenside chips where the flag is protected by a curve in the green and you have to chip the ball the nike one just wouldnt run out the second it hit the putting surface vicious spin was imparted on the ball and it spun sideways after 2 yards rather funny the first time it happened but after 9 holes not so funny anymore :(

I'm playing a little better in this my second year. Low to mid 90's with the occassional 100. Thought I would give the big boys a try; Pro V1, HX Tour and the 56, and the Platinum One. For my swing and game, the Tour 56 is the clear winner. I simply do not have the swing speed for the Titleist or Nike. I get the same feel from the cheap Top Flite 2000 as I do with the Nike. Pro V1 comes in second to the Tour. Again, this is for me, a relative new comer with a 95+/- mph swing speed. I am sure these balls are great for better players. I've gone through most of my Tour 56's and will not buy any more until they go on a serious sale when a new and improved version comes out! However, want a great ball for the over 80 crowd (score, not age!!!) Try the Maxfli A10 Solid in the black box. SWEET!!!! And cheap. Were 29.99, now can be found for 10 bucks!!!! They are being replaced, so grab them while you can. They go long, play well in the short game and are terrific on the green. Maxfli needs their head examined by stopping production of these babies. They are a diamond in the rough!!!!

I found '06 model is longer (~5yrds/driver) than older model. Control is as good as '05 model. Good price that I won from eBay @$32.2/dz. Better prices than Pro V1/V1x with head to head competition.

For almost the last 20 years, I have been a Titleist man (most recetly NXT, and Prov1x), with the exception of a year stint with a Callaway (Big Bertha Blue, & HX Tour). I've tried other balls, Nike included, but non seemed worthy of a change. That all changed just recently after trying a sleeve of Nike One Platinums. Soft around the greens, great feel with all clubs, low spin off driver, stops on dime with most irons, spins back a bit with a wedge. It beat out my ProV1x and the HX Tour in a head-to-head match-up. Just as long as the rest. Paid about $35/doz.

This ball is the best on the market! Long, piercing, mid-high trajectory. Wind doesn't touch it! Spins on clubs you need it to (7i-SW) and doesn't on clubs you don't (Driver- long irons). The ball really bites into the green and doesn't leave its ballmark! You can put some good action on it too when you need it. The funnest ball to chip and pitch, period. It checks very well so you can go more at the pin without worrying about it running away. Durability is the best among the premium balls. And the feel is awesome off all clubs including the putter. No ball rolls like this one off the flatstick, or feels as good. The best ball on the market, bar none!

Customer Service

Excellent! Good, quick responses to any question you need answered. Top notch customer service.

Just finished playing 7 rounds with this ball. Right before I switched I was playing the Titleist Pro V1x - I heard that the Nike One played in between the Pro V1 & the V1x and that is what I was looking for.
I have to say it comes close to being exactly that. I would say this ball is 2 parts Pro V1x and 1 part Pro V1.

Off the Tee: Almost identical to the V1x but longer by about 5-10 yards and just as straight.

Trajectory: Right in the middle of the V1 and V1x - not as high as the V1 not as low as the V1x.

Spin: Spins a tad more than the 1x on full shots but not as much as the V1. It will back up on full wedge shots though.

Pitching: It will stop quicker than the V1x but won't check like the V1.

Putting: Solid. Holds it's line well, maybe a touch softer than the V1x.

Overall: Nike came up with a very, very good ball. If you are looking for the combination of the two Pro V1's than this is your ball. However if you are getting the results you want from your ball there really is no reason to switch. Because they are that similar.

If it helsp with your evaluation. I play to a 6 handicap, drive the ball about 275 yards and have a swing speed of 105-MPH. I hit a 7 iron about 160 yards.

Great ball in my books, top 2 for me. only thing that gets me a bit is price. Great feel, wonderfully easy to spin/ control around the greens. Just such a solid feeling ball on full shots, then when you get to the touch shots when your using some type of ball and wish you could switch, you wouldnt with this one, its so solid, then as soon as you need the touch, its right there. When hitting it well i can give it some magic with the wedge and 7 and below can keep it within a couple feet of where it hits. Just a must try ball, if you cant afford to buy some, find someone using them and win it off them!

Long time prov x player who recently made the switch to this ball. I never thought I would play a nike ball as I have always been a loyal Titleist guy and the prov x still is my co-favorite ball. I can say with out hesitation that this is my ball now. This is the only nike product I play other than clothes and shoes. This review will compare the prov x to the nike platinum. postives: Easy. This ball is everything the provx isnt around the greens. This ball is soft and spins just the right amount, not the excessive spin of the prov and not the dead hard feel of the prov x. As for putting, this ball is the best. Period. Solid heavy feel but soft on the face and true. When struck with my 60* from 100 yds, this ball will drop and back up consistently or with my 52* just drop and stop. It is east to suck this ball back 10 feet unlike the prov X. Off the irons, it is soft and consistent a sounds solid not clicky. Feels like it stays on the face longer and I like that softer feel. Off the tee with my driver or 3 wood, maybe 10 yds shorter than the prov x and minimal side spin. Slightly higher ball flight but still plenty of distance. This ball will hold up welkl but after 2 rounds will begin to show wear from wedges. negatives: Really none except it takes some getting used to when chipping because compared to teh prov x the ball tends to spin alot and will check quickly. I prefer to chip with my 52* and some times I leave balls wells short due to too much check. As you get used to the ball, you can go at the pin more or adjust to a lower loft wedge which will give you more roll and less check. Other than that, and thats not a negative as much as a performance difference. Overall, my new favorite ball. If I can get it in the kill zone- 140 yds and in with any of my wedges in my hands- I need a ball that will stick close to the pin and this ball will do that. I like the softer feel off the face and around the greens and I dont lose that much off the tee. Compared to the other top premium balls like the Calloway hx tour and 56 and prov/prov x, this is a better overall ball from tee to green.
