Evidently j-boy isn't a scratch golfer like he says. I have been playing this ball since it came out and I have no complaints about it at all. As far as distance off the tee it is by far the better of all of the Titleist balls. and as far as feel around the green I think j-boy better get a new sand wedge, because I have lowered my strokes around the greens by about 4 shots. Oh, maybe j-boy needs to hit down on the ball a little more to get some spin on the ball; I'm backing it up about 4-8 feet.

Switching from the Professional to the Pro V1 has helped propel me to the number two position on the 2001 Tour money list. As all of you have undoubtedly seen, my driving distance has increased an average of 17.6 yards since switching this season. I am anxiously awaiting delivery of the prototype Pro V1-PM later this year.

Just as Nike custom-designed a ball to fit Tiger's game, Titleist is custom-designing a special series of balls for each of their more "high-profile" players. In addition to the Pro V1 PM, watch for the Pro V1 DLIII, the Pro V1 SG, and the Pro V1 VJ to be available to the public around Christmas 2001.

The Pro V1 DLIII will be a great choice for those who consistently generate clubhead speeds in excess of 105 MPH and hit the ball straight. The Pro V1 SG will be for those who have a tendency to release later in their swing and push the ball to the right. The Pro V1 VJ is designed to help those who release early and snap the ball to the left. While these are all great balls, the Pro V1 PM is my personal favorite. This ball is specially designed to favor a left-handed player. Mike Weir and I absolutely love it! Perhaps the most important part of its design is the revolutionary ipecac cover. It looks like the folks at Titleist have finally found a way to stop me from choking away tournaments on Sunday afternoons! Way to go Titleist!

WOW!!! This ball is great for any handicap... I only get out to play mabe twice a year at private clubs for charity events... I shoot about 110-115 (before this ball that is). I use to use a Titelist Tour Distance 90, which I was able to drive about 215 yards on a good swing... with this ball, I was able to drive an average of 250-260...in fact, on one drive I hit it right down the middle, 280 yards!! Ouch!! (I have a slow take away and a fast release, if that matters.) As for irons, I gained about 10 yards per club. Spin, for me I can only put spin on the ball if I use my wedges, and with this ball, I was able to spin it back in similar fashion as the Titelist Professional (which I never used during play because I couldn't drive it far enough)...the PRO V1 allows me to get the driving distance I need, plus I'm able to spin it back with my wedges onto the green. I also found that the ball stops pretty clean even without putting spin on it. Back to my score...like I said, I usually shoot about a 110-115...using this ball for the first time...shot a 96!!!! And I only play twice a year...for you people who play more often...I can only imagine what it can do for you...BUY IT!

The price is a bit high...but look at what you get...if you can keep you ball out of the woods and water hazards...this ball is for you..pretty durable too....

Unbelievable!! I shot a 51 on the front 9 the other day, and decided to buy a dozen of these balls and see what all the fuss was about. Finished with an 89!!

Now, this course I played was tough. Water on 16 of 18 holes and wicked greens, and it was a bit windy. I had 4 balls in the water after 9 holes.

My first drive with the ProV1 was not such a clean shot, but I blew past everyone else in my group. Next one was well over 300 yards. I hit a 225 yard 5-wood, sky high and saw it land and spin back 8 feet towards the hole. highlight reel stuff for a guy who usually shoots in the low to mid 90's.

I missed a ton of 10 foot putts but still carded a 38 on the back 9. From 51 to 38, mostly because of this ball!! I had never played 9 holes in less than 42, and that was when my putter was on fire...

Now if I could only putt better, I would be in the 70's every time ;)

If you can find it cheaply, get it by all means. At $4 a ball, it makes you play your shots smarter as a bonus...

Well well well. I finally tried these new balls, and there is no doubt why tour players swear their lives on them. Of the driver, I found that for a "spin"/"premium" ball it flies very well, and has decent roll. As for spin into the green, thats another story. For some reason, I couldn't get these things to spin. I can spin everything to a Maxfli Max Distance, but these don't spin too well. It may be because I am a low ball hitter, and the main selling point is that the ball flies high of the irons so it can't really go anywhere when it drops. It stops, just not as fast as I would like it to.

None, and I hope to keep it that way.

The Pro V1 is a very good ball for the very good player. I does everything well. It goes farther than other high-spin balls but not quite as far as "distance" balls. However, I found that like the Strata and other high-spin balls, distance control is a problem if your swing is not very consistent. With a sweeping swing or from wet or longer grass, the distance is impressive. But from a clean lie with a sharply descending swing path, I found I lost up to a club and a half of distance. It was frustrating to see shots that looked like they were all over the flag, fall well short. I am going back to the Titleist HP Distance balls, which don't seem to care whether how I hit them and give me very good distance control.

Oh #$%*@ing Titleist this Titleist that...it's like that company walks on water to you people. Do you really think your opinion means crap if you make one par per round?

I do agree that the Pro V1 is an excellent ball, but the price is so high that it freaks most people out to play them. Some of my friends almost cry when they lose one. If we're having a not so great round, then the Pro V1's stay in the bag.

I make a decent living and still it bothers the **it out of me to lose one of these things. I can bitch all I want but it won't change the price Titleist gets for these things.

I believe that the Callaway Rule 35's are the closest to the ProV1 in performance (atleast you save 56cents per ball) and most other urethane balls are too damn easy to scuff up.

I think the pro v is a great ball off the tee and around the green. The only setback that this ball has is that in the wind with irons it is very inconsistant in the spin of the ball. If titleist could fix this one flaw then the ball would be perfect.
