i found these balls at Academy Sport for $8.95/dozen. i prefer 3 or 4-piece performance balls. i was not overly impressed with the previous Wilson balls i'd tried, but for the price couldn't pass on these. i bought 2 dozen, and later wished i'd bought more b/c now they're all gone. while i had these i played about 10 rounds wtih the 2-dozen balls. in one round, i played side by side with a group of 10-15 hndcp players, 2 of whom were using ProV1's. i have a descent long game, and pride myself on my short game. this ball really impressed me. i was outdriving the guys who were hitting ProV1's on most holes. the spin and feel were great, and it felt good off my putter. it checked up quickly on the greens without having to try to put too much spin. i didn't have any durability problems, but also didn't hit many trees or cart paths. i just used my last one last week, when i shot a personal best 79. i retired it to my practice bag b/c it had some scuff marks. if i find more for that price, i'm buying them all!

I won 6 of these for being closest the pin on the Par 3 10th hole at Millbrook GC during my works first tournament of 2005 so I figured I'd use one this weekend to see what they were like. Must say I was mildly impressed. They are not ProV1 good but I'd put them in second place in the league of quality balls. They have a nice soft feel off the face and seemed to ping off the driver nicely. Not crazy long but adequate distance, fairly low spin rate so easy to keep in play and add a shape too when needed. Had a nice feel off the irons too and seemed to bite really nicely. Played well on chips & pitches and were easy to control and judge the spin. Couldn't really tell what they were like to putt with as we were on temporary greens but they seemed to make the right noise and went were I wanted them too. Only critism so far is they cut up quite a lot. With full wedge shots I played they looked like i'd champhered them with a file. As a consequence the ball was basically scrap after 18 holes and has had to go into the shag bag. Roll on summer - I think these balls will make a nice alternative to the ProV's, Not quite as good but they did everything I wanted them to and as they were free were my bargain of 2005 so far!!

Wilson were absolutely kidding when they tried to promote this as a high priced premium ball aimed at low markers, hence the short period on shelves and massively reduced prices almost as soon as they came out. Wilson just don't have the reputation of making players balls and this ball is no exception. Good distance but that was about it. Felt hard off all clubs, didn't stop on greens and didn't putt well, despite the 'true' technology and so called balanced ball. Wilson make adequate mid range balls at a competitive price, but if they want to break into the premium ball market they'll have to come up with something better than this. Any low marker looking for a premium quality ball would do well to avoid these.

Excellent 4 piece ball for a discounted price (used to be $29., now $19. at Golf Galaxy ... with a free Wilson Staff shirt too). One can argue for ProV1 or Precept, but from a price-value perspective, my money goes to the Wilson. It is much less durable than Precept, but there's truth to the "Perfectly Balanced" claim of the Wilson Staff True ball. It putts like a dream. Strength: Distance, putting, accuracy, decent spin around the greens. Weakness: Looks like my dog got ahold of it after a round.

Great question. Got a hole in one with one of these and Wilson could have cared less.

this is a decent ball it can only last about 6 holes because you will shred the cover to death. better cover would make this ball great.

Tried it for the 'True' putting performance and was pleasantly surprised by enhanced distance and good ball flight. Longer than the 2003 Pro V1 and holds greens well. Feels soft to me, 7 iron - 150yds. It does "shred" quickly, but the performance is hard to beat. I'm trading my stock of Pro V1s.

I've played about 6 rounds with this ball. As advertised it's long. However, spin is about average. The feel of this ball is very similar to the TourV. In fact, it's pretty difficult to figure out the difference. Although I loved the distance benefit, the feel of this ball is hard and is definitely not soft. I'm partial to playing a soft feeling ball and the feel of this ball is just too hard. For those who don't mind the feel, this is a very very good ball and you won't be disappointed.

I used this ball for the first time at the Rolls of Monmouth. The ball seems to go a long way, and a long way straight off of the tee. Hard to compare with other balls played, as it weas the first time round the course. It also seems to hold the greens quite well, although I don't have the technique to impart tremendous back spin. 175 yards out and you can stick a 5 iron on, no problem. The only down side is that like many premium high-spin balls, they scuff up easily. After 18 holes, it looked like it had gone 18 rounds with Lenox Lewis! I am not that used to the concept of a disposable Golf Ball, so a bit annoyed about the durability, but it is expected from this type of ball. It's very similar to a PRO V1, but £1 cheaper a ball, and goes further. Bargain! £25 a dozen can't be bad either...
