I am just a kid and came to play this course along with Makena during our family vacation at Wailea. With paying adult I get in for 15 dollars here, and for FREE at Makena! The deals are unreal for juniors under 18 at Maui.

The Dunes at Maui Lani is a challenging course. Their carts contain a GPS with yardage and an aerial view. These are a must have. Ours broke down on the 12th hole and without course knowledge you are screwed. Most of the holes give you a great look at birdie, while one bad shot will set you up with triple. The fairway bunkers and rolling fairways never cease to get the better of you.

The only problem I had with this course besides GPS was fairway conditions. It has been a dry year for Maui and the fairways were dry and had just been aerated. The course is poorly marked and it is evident that they rely on their GPS for all yardages.

Customer Service

Chill people worked there and a definite must go to if you are in the Maui area. I hear you can take a ferry to Lanai now and play golf for the day but I don't think I would do that with the great options for golf at Maui.

This course is a true golfer's course. As a part-time resident, I always make it a point to play here regularly during my visits. It requires accuracy more than length and I wouldn't recommend it to those who are looking for beautiful Hawaiian tropical scenery while shooting 100+. Yes, you'll see the beautiful West Maui Mountains and Haleakala, but If you don't know where your drives are going off the tee, then stay away from this course because it will frustrate you all day. However, if you want a course that requires you to stay in the moment and challenge you on every shot and every putt, then you will be very pleasantly surprised at its layout. From the tips, I think it only stretches to just over 6800yrds, but it will be a challenge to stay within 5 strokes of your handicap. When you are done playing, you will sense a feeling of accomplishment.

Interestingly, women have said they like this course. I think from the red tees, it plays a lot wider, as most courses do, and troubles are less unforgiving. As for the practice range, it's definitely one of the best in the state, if not THE best. Though exposed to the predominant trade winds that blow across from right to left, it is an awesome practice facility, with a large putting green and a practice chipping green with bunker. There are 7 normal size target greens to hit to, 6 are guarded by bunkers. Best of all, you hit off of fairway cut grass 7days a week.

Customer Service

Customer service is a nice plus. When you've just been beaten up by the Dunes, it's nice to be greeted by friendly folks who will hand you a cold towel to help ease you back to the real world, where you don't have to focus on your next shot. The restaurant has recently undergone management changes and is now operated by Cafe o'Lei. Service and food have seen a great improvement as a result.

The most underrated course on Maui doesnt look like much from the first tee but it gets "Mo Betta" as you get into it.There are some very interesting holes on this course.I highly suggest that when you go to Maui to play this one.You will not be dissapointed.

Very suprising course. When you pull up to the club house it looks like the course would be rather flat, But you are in for a big suprise! This course takes you throught a varity of elevation changes and many different obsticles. This is a must play course if you are ever on the island of Maui. Their Driving range is excelent also. service was great, Take sun block because it gets hot out there. A very nice touch was the ice cold towels they provide at the end of your round.

Probably the most fun I have had golfing. The course was nicely laid out and I hooked up with three older guys who have retired to Maui. They were funny as hell and I had a great time.

The course is relatively new and in pretty good shape. The second hole caused us some concern when the Pro Tip booklet showed a dogleg right and it was to the left. From that point on, we didn’t rely on the book.

Played 1/31/02. Fantastic course. Course seems complete.Practice area is terrific. Staff is extremely helpful.(cold towels waiting at end!) A good combination of links and hilly-tree-lined course. More elevation change than you might expect from the first holes. Non-golfing wife rode in cart for first time and realized now what an experience golf can be.A must repeat course.

Played in July 2001. I have played the big courses on Maui including Wailea, Makena and Kapalua. This course was great! Excellent condition from tee to green. Love courses that make you think. This will make you do just that. Wanted to play in windy conditions to see how it compared to Bandon Dunes in Oregon. Not quite the "over the pond" experience that Bandon Dunes is, but a great course nonetheless. Can't wait to play it again. Twilight rates were $39.00 after 2:00 p.m....and that included cart. Awesome deal while the wife and kids are at the pool or the Maui Ocean Center for the afternoon.

course is in perfect condition. tee boxes were very sweet. greens were super-fast and fringes were cut perfectly. the course is a tough son of a bitch but a must play. the wind is your enemy. stay away from the pot bunkers, you don't want to pull off a David Duval in the British Open at the Old Course. clubhouse is opening in october2000

Shoot in the 80s

New course, played in April/00 and they were still building the clubhouse. Excellent layout with a stretch (9,10,11) of very difficult holes. Conditions were great, but the course is still maturing. Should be one of the best course on Maui in a few years.
