Played the course Early May 2003, Played the Blue tees on the front nine, Took 2 hours to get off, payed $17, Layout is nice, Very scenic, and was lush grass due to the recent rain. They told us an hour wait then when we got there that they had leagues and had to wait longer. (to be expected) Pace of play was very slow. Waited on almost every tee. No Ranger to speed play. All and all a good experience,

Shoots in the 90s

I played this course as a young man, in the 50's, before the "new" 128 chopped it up. It was a lovely course then, especially the back 9. It is a shadow of its former self. The maintenance of the course is marginal; the only worse course I've been on is the West course at City Park in New Orleans. I wouldn't go back, not even for the nostalgia. Been there, did that, don't have to do it again. It's a shame. I used to love it. Sigh. Those days are gone forever.

This course is quite nice. It's very cheap too. Tee box condition is horrible though (when I played), fairway is not really well maintained either. Green are okay and pretty easy. This is a course for beginner. Cheap, wide open, and not very hard. The nice thing about it is it has a driving range. So, before doing a round, we could warm up a little, get the feel, and hopla.... end up doing pretty good from the 1st hole.

Leo J is a hackers dream. It's an average course but decent and very cheap (at least when I used to play it). It used to be as cheap as $6 for 9 holes at certain times. It says here $26-50 but I believe it still has to be cheaper than that.

If you only play 9 play the back 9 which are longer and nicer.

WIDE open front 9, tight back 9. Slope seems to be 105 on the front and 135 on the back. One of the best deals around town if you don't mind 5+ hour rounds on the weekends. Hint: play weekday. Maintenence is adequate. Green conditions are usually slow with an above average number of unrepaired ball marks. Come on "golfers", bend over and fix 'em. Fairways are green. Tee boxes are decent early in the season. Great course for the price you pay. Don't rent a cart to save time, rent a cart to sit and relax as you wait at the tee box.

Customer Service

With the exception of one starter, I have found the staff to be rude, unresponsive and unfriendly. You can not make a tee time during weekday but if you show up at 6 am you will not get on the course until 8 am or later. Guess you have to be a friend of one of the staff?
