i have been shooting in the 80's, sometimes flirting with 79. but this course kicked my butt. i shot 98!!!! i haven't played this course in 3 years. looks like they changed ownership because this course is in tip-top shape! the greens are the best on the island...period. i felt like i was putting at a pga tournament. the view of the koolau mountains are breathtaking. make sure you bring a lot of balls. i bought a dozen and that wasn't enough.

Customer Service

the ambassador at the first hole was friendly. everyone else was ok.

I would consider myself an average golfer, and I highly recommend this course to all skill levels (if you have enough balls to make it through the round.) By far the most difficult, but beautiful course I have enver seen.

Customer Service

The starter was VERY nice, he even gave my parter and I a handful of balls he had found (about 10 total) when we started our second 18 of the day (what kind of course does that?). The people in the pro-shop seemed to act too good to talk to us, but they ended up being nice in the end, all in all very nice expericence

food in the bar was very good, worth the walk up from the snack shop if you have time.

Absolutely the most beautiful golf course in the world! Although it is tough (eg, 200+ jungle carries on many holes), the course is fair. If you play smart (ie, conservative), you can record a decent score. We wished we'd reserved a second day to play this course. The signature par-5 hole is really cool with two different carries to a pond-side green. And No. 18 has got to be the hardest par-4 hole in golf. After a 230 yard drive, you have to lay-up (eg, 110-130 yards) before you attempt to go for the green. But the stories you'll have to tell... We also played Luana Hills. Everything is better at Ko'Olau! The green are better. The people are more friendly. The course is easy to get to. And don't even think about the muni (Pali) next door. We played it as a tune-up round, but it is in terrible condition. Grass just doesn't seem to want to grow on that course.

Customer Service

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Even the bartender (we were getting cokes before we started) gave us tips on how to play the course.

The club house is beautiful. It has an indoor waterfall. The pro shop is stocked, but not as good as Kapalua's. The club and shoe clean-up/wash area is really nice.

Lots of work being done on the course. The most scenic course you will ever play. Played from the second set of tees, had my 'c' game and shot 100 with 6 lost balls. Pure target golf, very little opportunity to let it rip. Greens were the fastest I played this trip.

Customer Service

Indifferent to non-existant. Saw the beverage girl twice.

I played 4 courses while in hawaii, and ko'olau was the toughest, followed closely by luana hills. For my money, luana hills is actually prettier than ko'olau, but both offer incredible views and all the difficulty you can ask for. Ko'olau has so many forced carries and there are literally no easy holes. If you want to test your game, this is a fine place to do it. I played 36 holes on the day at ko'olau, it is only $25.00 for the second round. Make sure you play the correct tees for your game, if you play from tees that are beyond your game, you will not enjoy yourself. The two locals I played with the first 18 must have each lost 20-25 balls. The second 18 I played with a british gentleman, and I had to help him with my limited course knowledge as this course requires so much game management......In short, a marvelous test for serious golfers.

Customer Service

average, I was less than impressed with service, seemed slow and indifferent

I played 4 courses when I was in Hawaii last week, i.e. Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea, Big Island Country Club and Ko'olau. This is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful courses I have ever played on - and also the most difficult. Although I did not lose a single ball (which in itself is a miracle!), I can see why people can lose more than a dozen balls easily if they did not bring their "A" game.

Customer Service

Very friendly and easily the best service of all the Hawaiian courses I played on.

Ko Olau golf course is a necessary stop for anyone who plays golf and travels to Hawaii. Breathtaking before you ever Tee off, and it immediately gets better the minute go around the dogleg left. When we went, it was on our own, about 100, plus 40 to rent clubs. Callaways, which were nice. GPS on Carts is great, and you may order food on 8 and 17, one hole before you get close to the clubhouse. 18 is the most talked about, but there is a hole, I would guess 15 or therein, where the teebox is very high about the fairway. In front of you about 350 and 40 feet down is the beautiful fairway. On your right, is the Steep rise of the Ko Olau Mountains, and on your left is a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

Customer Service

Great. We went at a good time, Late June, no very busy that aftnernoon

Just got back from a golf vacation to several islands. Koolau is the best of all five courses I played. That inclludes both Princeville Courses, Waikoloa and Mauna Lani. Its a tough course but the scenes/out are breathtaking. My wife did the camera action. She was amazed and asked if all courses look so great. Played in an early morning mist---plush green vegetation. No condos/resorts or homes make this a "hidden gem". This course is#1 in Hawaii by quite a margin. the 18th is a monster par 4 two forced carries and 22 bunkers.

Customer Service

Excellent clubhouse staff and facilities

Made the mistake of playing in January. The course was not in great shape. Fairways were splotchy and some tee boxes were nearly all sand. A course of this callibur should not be in such poor shape. The maintenance crew needs to learn how to mow the hills properly. Greens were in good shape, as a whole.

Customer Service

Wonderful, with the exception of Rob.
