Difficult course with backdrop picture tee's at almost every hole that would make all your golfer buddies envious.

Customer Service

Good. Friendly. Carried the clubs to and from cart.

It was well worth the effort to find this course; it was an absolutely beautiful course! The fairways were a little wet on some holes, which led to the ball plugging (sometimes to the point of disappearing) right in the middle of the fairway, but otherwise a great course. The ball flying through the air against the backdrop of the mountains is a sight you'll never forget. This is definitely a "must play course" when in Hawaii!

Gorgeous, well-hidden course is well worth the search. The motto "World's Most Challenging Golf Course" is intimidating and I let it get to me the first couple of holes, but once I settled down and concentrated on just putting the ball in the fairway the pars started to come.

Beautiful course. It's like playing in an oversized terrarium. A lovely midst bathed by piercing sunshine often hangs in the air. Lots of target golf, though it's not unfair. Good conditioned fairways. Generous well kept greens. Lots of natural leafy vegetation. If you play the course patiently, you'll be surprised how well you can will shoot. I usually shoot in the mid 80's. I was elated to shoot a 45 and a 47 (92) due to a few lost balls. On one hole a wild boar ran across the fairway. I grabbed my 6 iron hoping I had enough club. But he went his way and I had to forgo having to dig a hole and having an hawaiian cookout. The course is a wonderful and enjoyable test of every shot in your bag so go for it.

I played Koolau on Oct.7,2002 and shot 101. The course was beautiful and was in much better shape than the other public courses here. Tough doesn`t describe it. Eventually I gave up getting mad and amazingly shot much better on the back 9. I only lost 5 balls and posted a 10 on a par 4.

Customer Service

I went on a weekday and was not rushed at all by other players. Staff was nonexistent which is what I like.

Overall the course has improved greatly in the last year. The greens are coming back and the fairways are nice. Considering how run down it had gotten, the course superintendent should be commended for the work done. The location makes for very difficult course maintenance.

Greens have improved astronomically since 2001 with the removal of Bermuda and replacement with Seaside pasaplum (sp?). If you like tough courses, this is it. Lots of long carries over ravines. You gotta play it once just to say you did.

Customer Service

Adequate. No refreshment cart in site, but then again I usually play it on weekdays.

Just the golf, man, just the golf. The facility looks very nice, seems to be a Japanese mecca.

DO NOT PLAY HERE! An incompetent and unfriendly staff, two defective and dangerous carts, bumpy greens as slow as molasses, and interminably long playing times make this course one to avoid! Yes, the course is difficult, but so is playing on concrete. I'll take concrete over this course.

Customer Service

Very poor. Incompetent cart staff that keeps dangerous carts in service. The club pro and/or course managers should be embarassed and ashamed of the job that they are doing.

Played course in mid June, 2001. Green's conditions were sub-par. Greens had lots of sand from being aerated. Teeing areas were fine. Holes play tight with little room for error. Shots hits too far left or right are lost. No use looking for them. This is a plus since it does not hold up play. Discounts were only honored on morning pri-time rates. I'm not sure how the one guy played for $35 unless he was a local.

Customer Service

Pro-shop employees were not overly friendly nor rude.

The course has some of the best scenery of eastern Oahu.
Very challenging holes. I would have preferred to play every hole from the tips, but the markers were not set up this day. Played several holes from them anyway.
I can remember at least a half-dozen greens being spotty and/or chewed up pretty bad. The greens keeper should be canned!! The overall experience was worthwhile.

Customer Service

Staff was friendly all-around.
