Backdrop of the Koolau Mountains is breathtaking. Tees and fairways were in excellent condition but the greens were terrible. I was warned at the front desk that they were working on the back nine greens but at least 12 of the greens were loaded with sand (it was very difficult to putt on them.)

I wish I had been told about the condition of the greens when I made the tee time instead of when I showed up at the course.

played here February of 2000. Lost 6 balls.

What a great course. Target golf from tee to green. A dozed forced carries anywhere from 90-175 yards. The 18th was a killer.

The setting was the most dramatic i have played.

We played in early February, $75 twilight(1:30). The course was in good condition, staff was friendly, clubhouse very nice. Very difficult unforgiving course, but we went in there knowing that and had fun with it. Beautiful views and surroundings. Many forced carries. Would enjoy playing it again someday.

Customer Service

Tee times were easy to make, we had to reschedule our original tee time and the staff acted like it was no problem at all.

I have golfed all over the world scotland,Austraila, And all over the U.S. And out of all those golf courses this one is number One in everything. It has it all beautiful driving range, great scenery and great staff just to name a few. Although very challenging it was great fun. On of the neatist features was in the cart which had G.P.S. it told you how far you were away from the ball, kept score, could call for help, and you could even order lunch out of it. But don't get me wrong this is the hardest golf course I have ever played.

Customer Service

The staff here is the nicest I have ever encounterd

I have played maybe 200 or so courses in my 20 years playing golf and probably a 1000 rounds of golf. This round of golf was probably the funnest I have ever had. My handicap at the time was about a 9 but my friend I was playing with was playing for the third time in his life. He lost 55 balls. No lie. I was handing him three and four balls at a time. That may sound like torture but we both had a blast and a very memorable experience.

I love to hit the ball long. With all the forced carries it made it very exciting. I've played a course call Ragged Mountain in New Hampshire which had similiar conditions(and a slope of 140)that forced you to carry ravines into tight greens. The scenery though at Koolau was breathtaking, with mountains and rainforest on one side and the pacific on the other, it just couldn't have gotten any better.

Not sure what all the fuss is about - I played here on Saturday and went around in 75 - one lost ball (let's face it , they're all lateral), three birds, six boges.

Sure you have a ravine on every hole
Sure the greens all have triple breaks
Sure its 7,000+ yards.

But once you get through all that, it's pretty easy

The course is everything that they say. Difficult? Very - no errant shot goes umpunished. Scenic? Among the most stunning settings that I have ever played in. Unbelievably Hawaiian in feel, similar to the Prince on Kauai, however the steep vertical cliffs adjacent to the course will have you commenting "unbelievable" all day long...golf almost becomes secondary. Bring dozens of balls, leave your ego elsewhere (expect to shoot 5-8 stokes higher than normal), and have one the funnest rounds that you'll ever "endure".

Customer Service

Outstanding golf staff...friendly and accomodating.

When you enter the course a sign reads, "Most difficult course in America"; trust the sign. All hooks and slices will result in a lost ball. Several forced carries and side hill lies. An experience like no other, a must play when in Oahu. Bring lots of balls.

Customer Service

Friendly staff.

Spectacular vistas, non-stop challenges, not a flat spot to be found. The lack of condos, resort amenities, etc. is a nice change. Greens, unfortunately, are nearly dead...huge stretches of packed dirt instead of grass, mold all over them. I felt 1) thrilled at the layout and 2) dismayed at the condition of the greens. Note that they've been this way for months...sad.
