If you are the kind of player who likes to work the ball then this club is wrong for you. The club is supposed to correct for a hook but you can hardly hit one if you try. It turns a mild fade into a huge slice and a slice into a guarenteed lost ball. When hit well it goes great and feels great but that doesn''t seem to happen all that often. I guess this had something to do with why they don''t make it anymore. Anyway, I would make sure I was the kind of player who consistantly hits a hook before getting one of these. (and there aren''t many of you out there.) For the price though this club is tough to beat. Just don''t get the 808HC. Get the 818 or something.

I have been looking for a new driver for the past few months to replace my Sam''s club $49 titanium driver. I love that club but it truly hits like a 3 wood and the shaft is a bit short. My natural swing is moderately fast with the tendency to slice slightly or to sometimes fade right. The local Big 5 sporting goods store was selling this 818 FC driver for $99. Great deal and after reading literally every review available on the web, I decided that there was really nothing to lose for the $$$. I did not want to spend over $200 for a new driver and was debating about purchasing a used Great Big Bertha. After over 100 balls on the driving range, I have to say that all of the reviews have been right on the money. This is an EXCELLENT driver for the money, but it is definitely not the best out there currently. The gray topped club is 255cc and has a very good lite and stiff shaft. The hits are solid and there is a nice sound on impact when hit in the sweet spot but it is not as nice as many other drivers. I think it is missing that special tin like "ping." However it is moderately forgiving on the tip and less forgiving on the heel. Occasionally the ball will fly too high with TOO MUCH LOFT when it is under hit. To correct this, I had to tee the ball lower. I find that my shots are straighter and that the Fade Control does work moderately(10 to 15% at most) but definitely NOT the "up to 25 to 40%" that the Adams web site claims. I hit the shots relatively straight to begin with and was hoping to gain a slight draw which so far has not happened. As far a distance, I think I may have gained 20 yards (240 vs 220) at the most compared to my $49 Titanium Sam''s club driver. However, with a slight off center hit, this driver is about the same. Compared to the mentioned clubs bellow, I have to say that this driver falls a bit short. With a perfecd hit, I truly can hit the Ping and the Taylor Drivers about 270 compared to about 240 for this club. I have compared this club to the Adams Tight Lies (about the same) and the Titelist 975J (Too unforgiving and very hard) and the Ping ISI (Great club for $400) and the Taylor 320 (probably the best club for me when I have a spare $320 lying around). For the money, this is a Nice club that hits straight with a reasonable distance.

This is the best driver I have found yet,,It is wayyyy better than the Taylor Mabe Super steel that I replaced with this club,I have a tendency to push the ball left to right ,,now I go straight most of time with a little push to the right even ,,never had that happen ,,also I am hitting a lot more distance ,,dunno if it just bacause I''m a little more confident with this club or what ,,but it has helped me more than any club so far ,,,,

This is an unusual driver in the way that it is weighted. I have the 10.5 Degree Stiff Shaft, 814N Model. This club is not as long as two other Beta Titanium Drivers that I have, but it s still longer than most drivers. Accuracy and ease of hitting is the best features this club offers. Once I got used to hitting the club, I found it easy to hit accurately, and in the fairways. I played 18 holes one day and 27 holes the next, and I was only in the rough one time. Hitting off the short grass makes it very easy to score, especially when your like me and hitting irons is the strong point of my game. This is a very easy club to hit and to keep in the fairways. There are longer drivers than this one, but your score will definetly improve using this driver. You wil swing easier, and still get adquate distance on the drive - 250 yard plus. If you want to winthe most skins at the end of the day , use this driver. If you want to hit the longest ball, look elsewhere.

Model Reviewed: Adams SC 814 N 8 degree

I was looking for a new driver and read all the different reviews. I finally decided on the Adams because of the high reviews and the low cost. I'm somewhat disappointed and somewhat pleased. First, the cons. I lost distance. The club tends to sky the ball high in the air. I've been using a old japanese driver I picked up in the 1980's. I typically drive that club 260-270 yards and it bores through the air (really pretty to watch). But the Adams trajectory just looks like a really long 5 iron shot. I hit the Adams on average of about 240. I lost a lot of distance. The face on the Adams is 8 degrees, but still hits higher and shorter than my old club with a 9.5 degree face. Now, the pros. Dispite the lost of distance, the control is more consistent. In this case, the club act like a 3 wood. Easy to hit onto the fairway. And the sound and feel are great. Overall, I really do enjoy the accuracy of the Adams driver. Now a days, I take both drivers onto the field. I pull out the old driver for the long par 4s. Otherwise, I don't have a chance. I suggest you test it out before you buy it. Good luck.

I have to say one thing. This club is outstanding! I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to golf equipment and i try a lot of the newer stuff that looks to be promising! I had been hitting a Great Big Bertha for the longest time (10*) and then switched to a Titleist 975D (8.5*)after taking a demo out on the course for a few times! The first thing I noticed was the feel was no where near as good as the Callaway GBB nor was the feedback. When you hit a GBB on the screws it sounds wonderful and you know you tagged it! With the 975D, the feel is almost identical whenever you hot anything near the sweetspot. NO FEEL and you can't tell how well you hit it! Now, this Adams I tried because a friend of mine swore by it! I tried it and the first time Ihit it, the ball came off the face like a missile!!! I mean is just shot off the face and took off! The sound was wonderful AND the feel and feedback was great! This club hits the ball straight where you aim it and allows you to work the ball either way! I had been struggeling with the Titleist and was kicking myself in the tail for getting rid of the Callaway and was about to go back until I hit this thing! This Driver is OUTSTANDING! I cannot possibly fathom how anybody in their right mind would EVER choose a Titlist over this SC Series driver. Easier to hit by far and hits it farther...let me rephrase that..ALLOWS ME to hit it much straighter and much farther! Now O generate close to 120 m.p.h. of clubhead speed with a driver and I had to go with a "Tour-X EI-70 Shaft" and these two pieces make a wonderful combination. Try this thinbg out and you will think the same thing I do especially with regards to that Titleist club! The thing that most people do not realize is that Tiger, Duval, Davis Love, Mickelson, Sergio, Daly, Couples...all these pros have their clubs custom made and custom weighted to their individual specifications. The TITLEIST IS NOT AS GOOD AS ITS CRACKED UP TO BE! And believe me.....it sure is not worth $350 Plus. Check this club out...you will be amazed!

Model Reviewed: Adams SC 814N 9 deg

I bought this club from a guy off the Net. Thanks again Gavin.......It had the standard Pro lite stiff shaft. I had this cut off and replaced it with an EI 70 Stiff shaft. I then had it swing weighted to the same as my Adams Tour 15deg Fairway Wood, swing weight plus one, and I had the shaft cut down to a traditional steel shaft length.......result was long straight drives that will penetrate a strong head wind.....the 9 deg loft is perfect and will get the ball air borne. The sound off the face is nearer to the Titleist model used by many pros.....a solid contacting sound and less tinny as in the Ping or Callaway. I think it is marriage made in heaven the Adams club with the EI 70 shaft. I also have a set of the Adams Irons they are the cannine testiculata as well. Just be sure if you do buy this club to tee the ball a little lower than normal or you will run the risk of coming almost clean underneath the ball. I have also mastered the nack of nipping this club off the deck on longer par 5's. In term of distance I average about 220 to 250 Yards. I no longer fish and therefore no longer exagerate distance or length. If it is straight and on the short stuff.......well what more can I say..........Be Lucky
