Purchased this club because I've heard good things. I've had marginal luck with component clubs in the past, but I have nothing but praise for Bang Golf. The 420cc head inspires confidence. I feel like I can swing with abandon. I've had a few three hundred yard pokes and a few 250 yard mis-hits, but usually shots are in the fairway. A couple of things to consider if you're thinking about buying. Don't skimp on the shaft. I put a Harrison Pro 2.5 in mine. It's about a 70 dollar add-on, but with a big head like this one, you'll need a good low-torque shaft. Also, consider the fairway woods. As much as I like the driver, my mellow yellow three wood is even better. Its large head and shallow face make it easy to hit the par 5's in two. For the first time in my life I'm playing the back tees and loving it.

14* driver with stiff Harrison Striper J allowed me to pull my Callaway GBB 3 wood out of the bag and NEVER look back. I got tired of paying $400 bucks a driver. I hit this baby 270-280 and always keep it in play.

I bought this club from M&M Golf online and had them build it with the Penley ETA Tour shaft (stiff flex). This is an awesome setup both aesthetically and for playability. I narrowed my choice down to this club or the Alpha Reaction V2 400. Both were comparable in distance and accuracy. However, the Bang won out in the warranty category. Alpha is only one year and Bang is lifetime (can't take a chance on thin face technology). Anyway, consistent drives in the 300+ yard range and always seem to be in the fairway....thanks to the shaft I believe. I get a lot of funny comments when I first bring out the yellow monster but everyone seems to like yellow after the first 3 or 4 holes when I'm always standing in the fairway waiting on them to hit! If you want a great driver then I would recommend the Mellow Yellow 420... but don't cheat yourself on the shaft. Put down the bucks for a great shaft combined with this head and you'll be wearing yellow everything after awhile.

Customer Service

Can't be beat. Both Bang and M&M Golf have been great. The Alpha is a sweet club but the warranty sucks. I had a Tour Edge Bazooka before this and cracked the face 3 times. Tour Edge replaced it immediately due to their lifetime warranty policy. I think the warranty is crucial with these new thin face drivers. Can you afford to replace your driver every year??

I end up getting a new driver every year and most of the time is something big and from an infomercial. For example last year I purchased the Hammer 595cc driver. So I was naturally skeptical but I said what the heck how can I go wrong for 70 dollars and it had good reviews. I put a Grafalloy Blue shaft on it ( Unbeliveable shaft ) and I started booming drives long and straight it seemed like I couldn't hit a bad shot. This club is the best driver I ever hit I added 30yards and hit nothing but straight drives.

I have recently started building and fitting clubs. In the past two weeks I have sold 9 Mellow Yellow in all, 5 Drivers and 4 Fairway woods. I have gotten great feedback from my clients. They all love the drivers and rate the fairway woods as "idiot proof". One of my clients who shoots in the low 70s, has pretty much stopped using his Callaway as the Mellow Yellow is 1)Longer and 2)Straighter and easier to control. They all love the color and finish. Top Notch product. Keep on Bangin'

Customer Service

The Custom Club Shop in Toronto has been great! My only complaint is that Bang doesn't offer a demo program.

I currently use a Snake Eyes Pro Cor. (320cc with 47.5inch playing length) Hitting it 300+ easily. Would love to take it head to head with Mellow Yellow or Big Big Bang 525 to compare.

Model Reviewed: Bang Mellow Yellow 10.5* Driver

Bought the head for $70 and assembled the 10.5* head with a 46" Penley shaft myself. The shafts that really match (in my opinion) are the Penley shafts (black with yellow bands) or the yellow or blue Harrison shafts. The Mellow Yellow tends to hit on a higher trajectory than other heads with the same loft, but is extremely accurate and forgiving. The Mellow Yellow is also very long compared to other clubs that I have tried. I lived overseas and tried many of the OEM drivers (Cobra SS 370 (.86 cor), Taylormade R360 (.86 cor), Titleist 975D, Callaways, Cleveland Launcher, etc. and the Bang Mellow Yellow hits as far as them but most times farther while being more accurate. Since the head is relatively affordable, it offers one an option of experimenting with different shafts to fit your swing. And the resale value on ebay and other sites is pretty good too. The fit and finish are absolutely first rate. But you will need to get adjusted to the fact that many golfers will be asking you what kind of club you are hitting. Either you like the loud yellow color or you don't. The sound of the driver is not too loud, and the face leaves a nice impact mark similar to impact tape that tells you where you hit it which can be erased easily after each shot.

Customer Service

Don't know; never had to contact the company thus far. However, the owner of Bang Golf is a member of www.golfopinions.com and can be reached there for comments.

Model Reviewed: Bang Mellow Yellow

The Mellow Yellow in the Accuflex Vizion shaft is an interesting contrast in color, mustard yellow head with a white shaft. Although the head is 420cc, it sets up very well to the ball as the face is relatively shallow for the size of the head. At impact, the sound is less bang than a satisfying click. This is a very solid head. Unlike the Bang 525, the Mellow Yellow will not give you the booming distance with a sub 100 mph swing (mine), but the little it lacks in boost is more than made up for in accuracy. Swing after swing, this head on a good shaft (the Vizion is great) will leave you in the short grass everytime. Even bad swings will yield reasonable results. Highly recommended for all levels of play.

Model Reviewed: BANG MELLOW YELLOW 4,6 & 7.5 DEGREE

AS A LONGDRIVE COMPETITOR OF THE PAST 25 YEARS I HAVE USED MANY DRIVERS IN LONG DRIVE COMPETITIONS. MOST CLUBS COME FROM COMPONENT COMPANIES THAT CATER TO THE LONG DRIVE TOUR. THE MELLOW YELLOWS WHICH I OWN (3) 4 DEGREES (5) 6 DEGREES AND (2) 7.5 DEGREES ARE OUTSTANDING CLUB HEADS THAT HAVE PERFORMED GREAT UNDER ALL TYPES OF CONDITIONS. I USED THE MELLOW YELLOWS AT LAST YEARS REMAX WORLD LONG DRIVE FINALS. THIS HEAD IS AS HOT AS ANY ON THE MARKET AND SUITABLE FOR THE LONG DRIVE PRO OR THE NOVICE. THE SWEET SPOT IS HUGE AND THE BALL EXPLODES OFF OF THE FACE. I CAN REGULARLY HIT THE MELLOW YELLOW IN THE 340 TO 360 YARD RANGE UNDER THE RIGHT CONDITIONS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CLUB TO ANY TYPE OF PLAYER. MY SEVEN YEAR OLD SON RECEIVED A SET OF MELLOW YELLOW WOODS FOR CHRISTMAS AND CAN HIT HIS 12 DEGREE DRIVER 170 YARDS. BUY ONE INSTALL A PENLEY TOUR LIGHT SHAFT OR AN ACCUFLEX ASSASSIN AND LET IT RIP.

Coupled with the right shaft this baby goes long. Using a Mellow Yellow 12* loft with a UST Longdrive shaft with total length at 48" Easily controllable. Most people over estimate themselves and go with too little loft. A weekend player should try 11-12* loft and see how much farther they go. Forget what the Pro's are playing unless you are a pro or scratch player.

Customer Service

No problems with the product. Russ at Bang golf readily available by phone...always helpful

Model Reviewed: Bang 420 Mellow Yellow 9 degree

I bought this club on a whim: 1) To see if the head was really as loud as claimed to be on impact and 2) To see if it was any good. Answers: 1) No. 2) No. The AccuFlex shaft that was put in the club is great and will find its way into a different driver head once I can pull the Bang head. The problems with the Bang head is mainly with the face. There are no grooves anywhere near where you would strike the ball and the surface is so highly polished that the effect is PURE KNUCKLEBALL!! No launch angle whatsoever with this clubface. The ball goes out to about 170 and RAPIDLY starts descending. The head pro, teaching pro and a guy who plays a mini-tour all hit the club with the same results. Live and learn. The club was inexpensive so I can't give it a "1" in the value score section.

Customer Service

Golf Shafts Direct was very prompt.
