Model Reviewed: Callaway GBB2 Pro Series 8.5 Graffaloy Blue Stiff

Awesome club, I just got mine as they are going out cheap at the moment $499. Had the first hit on the weekend and was surprised how straight and LONG these things go. Only missed two fairways and was hitting drives from 240-270 metres depending on the wind ( Even got one out to 290 metres with the wind ). The Graffaloy Blue Stiff shaft is excellent and the harder you hit it the further it goes. The best thing about this club is that you can swing normally and the ball flight is strong and straight and down the middle. You can still miss it and its straight, I missed a couple until I worked out the setup and still got the ball out around 240 metres. Its so forgiving its not funny and I can't wait to get out there with it again as it sets me up on every hole with a chance for par or better. If your looking for distance and forgiveness then this club is for you....

this driver has made me think before I swing. have always fought blocking ball off to the right (swing I know)... being 1* open didn't make any sense. folks stated that I would NOT need to use this driver. would make problem even worse. I beg to differ, I have never ever hit the ball as STRAIGHT as I do with this driver. In fact I can now work the ball both ways. I also realize the shaft has a lot to do with it. I know the prolite 3.5 has been around for years and that new technology was come out. But I swear this shaft is indeed the ticket for me... no joke I am crushing the ball every time I pull it out of the bag... ball flight is wonderful, low boring... feel is excellent!!! I know when the club makes contact whether or not it is what I am looking for.. yardage wise is beyond my expectations, carry is between 260-280, with LOTS of roll. I enjoy hitting first with my regular foursome. seems to put the pressure on them...Thank you Callaway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This club allows a golfer to work the ball with ease whether it may be a draw or a fade. This driver gives a much better feel and experience in comparison to the non pro series version. This club has a similar set up to the normal big bertha however workability is much better with the pro series. My distance improved from a 260 yard carry to a 280 yard carry. Accuracy has improved impressively by about 10-15 yards.

Im always surprised by the way people use this little box to review clubs. Most I find are playing clubs which they simply shouldn't...reviewing them like their experience should validate or condemn a specific club. People, each club will perform differently for each golf swing...and especially if you are comparing clubs with different lofts and shafts...like our 70's golfer who used too much loft on his GGB2...and a shaft KNOWN to add loft. How a club performs is determined by things that are more dependent on your swing than on the club itself. What is important is what the club did in relation to your swing... for example, did the club promote a boring flight when you usually hit balloons? Was their significant roll on your drives? Did the club encourage a particular ball flight...as compared to your usual equipment? etc. Oh well, enuff rant. For MY game, the GBB2 pro has been magic. I want a neutral club which won't make my swing do ANYTHING. My swing tends to fight a hook...so I have struggled with driver after driver which wants to 'help' with a slice I don't have. This, combined with a poor short game has resulted in the decline of a 70's game into the 80's. The BB2 Pro frankly hits the ball according to my swing. That is to say, I don't have to worry about the ball going left on me...even with my most aggressive swings. Is it long, yes. I'm not going to say its the longest I've ever hit...cause I've hit alot of long drives with the new clubs out there...but distance isn't a problem with this club...I can readily dial in distant time zones with it. The ball flight doesn't balloon for me...while my swing generates loft on virtually every club I use, and I would definately use adjectives such as "penetrating" and "boring" to describe its flight for me. I would consider the club to be extremely forgiving, though there isn't alot of feedback. It is nearly impossible to critique the top drivers...New offerings by Titleist, TM, Cleveland...each does things slightly different...but for me, each of those other clubs still wanted to 'help' me go left...with a different swing, each would have been my favorite club. But the swing I have is the one I use...and the GGB2 pro is the best driver I have ever used. 70's here I come.

I reviewed this club in March. Began to have problem from time to time with face staying open when getting a little snappy during last part of downswing. Path would usually be OK, but tempo a little off. Would push ball to right, sometimes slice. Changed to Graffaloy blue shaft after fitting. Club now performs way better. Much narrower dispersion, can crank of shoulders and forearms coming through and face much squarer at impact. Distance 10-15 better in general. More confident feeling, so swings generally better. Had I known what a difference shaft made, would have made switch previously. Graffaloy blue excellent shaft. My swing speed around 105-115 depending upon day. Like club even more now.

This is my second time having this club. The first time I had it I got the stock firm shaft and hated it so I sold it.I was in the market for a driver again after playing my old one for the past 6 months.I hit every driver imaginable. The new Ping,Taylor Made 580,Titleist 983K,etc...I hit the Big Bertha II again just for the heck of it.The one I got has a Graphite Design YS-6 Stiff shaft, which is perfect for the golfer with a swing speed of around 95-100.What a big difference. It is like a new club.I was hitting it about 15 yards further than all of the above(including roll).I have the 9.5 degrees which has a very strong boring flight.Out of about the ten drivers I tried, this was the only one that did not balloon any.I highly reccommend this club for the serious golfer.Do not get one with the stock shaft. The YS-6 has alot of feel in this club.I stole this club for $330 including tax, maybe you'll be this lucky.

Model Reviewed: GB11 Pro Series 9.5

When I was in the market for a new driver I went to be fitted on the Callaway fitting system which is an accurate tool for measuring launch angles, swing speed, ball speed and carry. It took me quite a few clubs of different lofts and shafts to get a good match but I am now hitting the ball on a perfect trajectory with 10 yards more carry than my previous ERC. The benefit of the GB11 is how easy it is to hit straight. I use the pro series and hit consistent draws. The feeling is good but not as nice (hot) as some other drivers out there (R500 series). Set up is fantastic with a 1 degree open face which was designed after consultation with many professionals. Callaways have always been easy to hit - my swing speed is 110 mph so it shows you you dont need to be nice and slow to benefit from them. Final verdict is it goes long and straight down the middle (for me)- thats ALL that counts. The results are great but I still think that the R510, R540 and Titleist 975J are the best "feeling" drivers out there. However, some golfers may not like specific clubs which is nothing to do with the club just different swings for different clubs. No such thing as an absolute crap club or fantastic club. Get fitted on a Callaway system because you cant tell accurately if you are hitting further without the use of radars etc.

Customer Service

Pretty good. Fitting system is an absolute must!!!

Model Reviewed: GBB2 9.5° ProLite stiff

I just got back from playing a round with a demo Callaway GBB², 9.5° and a ProLite Stiff shaft fitted in it. I read the reviews on this site 2 days ago and was amazed with a the positive reviews. I am sorry to say that having tried this club, I'm not positive at all. True this driver is great on workability and very straight of the tee BUT (with this shaft-loft combo) I shot nearly every bird out of the sky. It ballooned so high that when it came down, the ball just stopped in its own pitchmark, so far for my hope on some roll. The length was about 10-20yrds shorter than my current 975J driver because that still has some roll and more flight. Positive about the shaft: it's so light that I did feel the clubhead in my downswing. If I had to give advice about this driver, I would say that everyone should take 1° of his usual loft.

Customer Service

Pretty okay. I have only once needed them and they solved my problem pretty well.
