Callaway Hawk Eye VFT Drivers

Callaway Hawk Eye VFT Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From Callaway Golf: The new Hawkeye VFT driver is the "hottest, most forgiving driver available that also conforms to USGA rules." The VFT's "Variable Face Thickness" Technology, along with its large, deep faced, 300cc head, maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting for greater potential distance and forgiveness.

The VFT-Pro is quite different from the standard VFT. It sets up square to the target which is more pleasing to me. Most of the new Big Headed Ti drivers are a little closed to help reduce a slice.

A side-by-side comparison produced a tighter shot pattern and lower trajectory with the Pro vs the VFT, Although the shaft was too stiff for all but the better and stronger players. Too stiff means less feel and loss of distance and even accuracy if your club head is not in the correct position at impact.

The Pro series also felt heavier than the VFT but I think that was due to the stiffer shaft in the Pro model.

Works for me. The most accurate and longest driver. Had a GBB reshafted with a Pro Force 65 prior to this one.

This club is great if you can consistently hit it right smack in the middle of the sweet spot. It will definitely go farther off the tee compared to most drivers if you can, but how many of you out there can?

Your bad shots will be horrible with either a wicked slice or a nasty hook. It is definitely hard to square the ball at address. This is why the club is very unpredictable.
I would definitely go with a loft at least 1 or 2 degrees higher than what you normally play with this club.

For about the same price, I would buy the Titleist 975J instead. I've hit that club a few times and I'm in love with it. Great looking club, easy to address the ball, much more forgiving, and gives you more confidence.

Yes that's right, read it & weep...I only paid $100...got it thru a program where I work!....now on to the review, before I bought this I read the negative reviews at another web site & I read ALL of the reviews here (71.4 liked it),
This club flat out kicks ass!!! I have had this driver since 5-4-01 & It is THE BEST DRIVER PERIOD. My drives have never been STRAIGHTER OR LONGER, even when I pull it (which I never did before, was always a slicer),I'm still hitting it farther than others, a friend of mine has the TM-300 & I'm spanking him head to head..my only trouble now is I'm playing from an area I've never familiar with....THE FAIRWAY!!.I have to agree with Cliff Scholl from Wichita if you suck with this club, the problem is not with the club..it's the person handling it....remember what Dan Patrick of SportsCenter used to say.."A good craftsman never blames his tools"
I wish I could get on a Callaway commerical to sing its praises.
This driver has given me something I have NEVER had hitting off the tee before & that's CONFIDENCE!!!!!

Compare to the previous HawkEye, this club is a bid more forgiving. Other than that, the previous HawkEye is longer, has better trajectory and better looking.
I don't get that "ball jump off the face" feeling with this club, but it does produce decent distance. I can really feel the spring-like effect with this club.

Customer Service

I got the driver as a replacement for my HawkEye driver due to defect in the club head. After sending it back, Callaway gave the local shop authorization to replace it on the spot. It was quick and hassle-free. Thanks Callaway!

I am a beginning golfer. I read all the horrible reviews and was scared to buy this club, but did anyway. I got a 10* Firm and let me say after one day, i would pay twice as much for this club. Long and straight EVERY TIME. I can't imagine ANYONE not being able to hit this club perfectly. It cured my minor slice. All of my friends that I golf with tried it out, from slow swingers to my scramble partner who hits harder than anyone I've met- all hit the best they ever had. This is simply THE BEST DRIVER in the market. Please don't listen to the obviously horrible golfers who give this club a horrible review, or maybe you should--so I can always outdrive you.

Model Reviewed: VFT 8* w/ ProForce 65 Stiff

This vft 8* w/ proforce 65 stiff flex is by far the best driver I've ever hit, if you have a good swing the ball will go long & straight, it does not have a close like other people things & it give that low boaring ball flight. I just recently demo the pro series 9.5* w/ stock 65 tour stiff flex, eventhough the shaft doesn't the same feel like the proforce have, the head of this pro series is diff. from the regular vft, the perimeter weighting on the pro series are diff. & it's also 10 grams heavier & has lower ball flight than the regular vft but both of them goes far. I switch from Ping ISI cause I didn't get good service from them when I was getting my ping re-shafted plus re-shafting a Ping woods w/ those stupid plastic hosels cost so much money. Plus these VFT woods are the best deep face looking woods (I think). Another thing to consider when buying any driver of your choice, I have notice that all golf store has all these hi-performance shafts on their drivers and even though that their great shafts, make sure that the shaft fits your swing, don't just buy bacause everyone on tour uses them.

Customer Service

My shaft on my Ping driver broke & they did not warranty it without any good reason. I think because they didn't want to pay or cover the lost for the damage and it goes the same from the store I bought it from (Golf Town Mississauga, ON)
