DESCRIPTION

This all-titanium, 460cc driver is designed for longer and straighter tee shots. At 460cc, the new drivers combine a CT/VFT Face, Consistent Alignment Sole and patented Callaway Golf technologies. Model Reviewed: Callaway X460 9.5 Tour

Went to a range that allowed trials of demo drivers. I tried nine: Callaway X460 9.5 Tour; Taylor Made 9.5 R7 460 TP;Taylor Made 9.5 R7 Quad 425 TP;Nike Sasquatch 9.5 Tour;Mizuno MX500 9.5;Nickent Genex 3DX 9.5 and 10.5;Cleveland Launcher Comp 9.5;Cleveland 460 Hi-bore 9.5. All had their stock stiff graphite shafts.
As a reference, I also had my Ping Si3 8.0 X-stiff Graffalloy ProLaunch.
Wind was blowing at a constant 10-12mph into the drive and slightly from the left. I hit right-handed.
Without going into a lot of details, the Callaway proved to be very different from all of the clubs used. Each club was use to hit about ten balls each.
The Callaway stood out in terms of : a) distance, b)control, c)forgiveness, d)ease of set-up, e)sound and f)aesthetics.
Compared to my X-stiff Ping, I do not have to beat the ball like a rented mule to get it to go. When I was done "testing", the guy behind me on the range tossed six balls my way and said "I want to see you hit that club some more...the ball flight is amazing." I told him that he can go to the clubhouse and register to try it out himself.
Yes, this club is amazing. Period.
I bought the Callaway on EBay that evening and it arrived today. Anticipation is sweet!

Recently received the club. I used it today at the range for the first time - against the wind and blowing pretty good. My first swing with it had a great "crack" sound and the ball flew 200 yards [against the wind] and straight. I hit others and caught some on the toe and some on the hosel area. They all flew straight and I didn't see any appreciable loss of distance. My words were "this club should be illegal because it works too well." Can't wait to see it on the course with real golf balls.

I uprgraded from the Big Bertha II to the FT3 in January and was quite disappointed, did not get the distance or the direction with the FT3, after playing everything from the right fairway for 8 months I traded the FT3 for the 460 X 10 degree Gaffaloy stiff Prolaunch shaft. What a difference in clubs, got the distance and direction back. The 2 degree closed face made a huge difference and I love the sound it makes (it is loud) after listening to the FT3 Clunck for 8 months. Wish I had not waited this long to make the change.

Traded in the FT 3 with Callaway Preowned, the club they sent me was brand new.

Got the X-460 10.5degree Tour with NV Stiff shaft when they had the heavenwood deal. First time all my buddies said "you are killing it" but it was really just the different sound from a Taylor Made 510 TP I was using. What I think I have found after using for a summer is: No way to go back to the 510TP (8.5). x-460 averages longer as misses are definitely longer. No ballooning at All. The flush drives high on the face may be 5 yards longer. Average drives about the same. But it is definitely straighter. I don't think I have ever snap hooked it.

just got this club and it was everything i've hoped for, and more. 10.5 degree, fuji 26.3 stiff stock shaft. added 20+ yards easily, and the x460 tour is much straighter than my launcher. the sole's shape makes for a consistent set-up, so there is no need to manipulate the club. just rest it on the ground, and take your stance around it. for this reason alone, it improved the number of fairways i hit. the square face (as opposed to the closed face of the x460) allowed me to dial in draws or fades, depending on the shape of the hole. overall, the club just looks good. it is more traditional than the fusion, and because it is in black, it's appears more slimmed down than the normal 460 cc bohemoths. the loud sound goes off with an impressive *bang* at impact (be prepared to brag about your club at the range... they won't be able to stay away). mis-hits fly about 85% as far, and stayed 85% straighter than my cleveland. i had an old warbird many moons ago, and then left callaway during their "ugly" faze (anyone remember the c4?). i have been unimpressed with callaway until seeing this club, which brought me back to the brand. i can't wait to bomb it in my annual tournament this upcoming weekend. :)

to anyone out there looking for a new driver, you have got to at least test-hit this one. you get top-notch technology for about half the price. 2 recommendations: if you consistently slice the ball, get the x460. also, get the right shaft for your swing speed. there are too many options out there to just close your eyes and hope you get lucky.

paid $150 + shipping ($15) on golfclubexchange.com.

Thanks for the great reviews. Your posts made me decide to swing a demo at the range. You have to try this driver out!Straight and long...
I also have a crush on the Mizuno mx500, but I'm favouring the Callaway as I really do enjoy my Callaway irons.

In short, do not buy a driver till you have swung this "tee-box bad boy"!

ps. Make sure you match the shaft to your swing!

Model Reviewed: X460 NVS S 75 9*

I was not planning on buying a new driver. I decided to hit a few balls with the X 460 at my local driving range. My teacher said I should switch to the NVS from the NV, so I picked the NVS 75 Stiff model. I loved it. It definitely appeared to go longer than my Ping G2. It also seemed to go a lot straighter. I hit a bucket of balls with it, and was hooked. I walked out the door with it. I cant wait to play tomorrow!

I got the X460/Fujikura Regular flex shaft saturday and used it saturday afternoon.....man what a club. I've been playing less than a year, so I have a lot to learn. I know one thing though...this club is awesome. This thing easily gets me 40 more yards than my cheap Knight 460cc driver. I cranked 3 drives greater than 300 yards and I'm a little guy, 5'9" 150 lbs. I had more drives in the fairway and my slices weren't as bad.
