Callaway X460 Tour 9.5°, Fujikura Tour stiff. First time at range I wanted to return club, snap hooks, low shots and the loud bang at contact. But you can't try to jump on this club (not usually good with any club), you have to swing right and smooth. 2nd time at range was much better and hit some high boomers - long distance in air. This club and shaft are set up perfect for the right swing. I swing 95-100, not any more than that, I am 10 handicap. I am very glad I did not return. 1st time on course after a few early bad ones I was hitting 260-280 drives with easy swing, no problem, easy to control, very straight. Hit 3 300+ later on and had a couple carry 280-290 in the air. This is the longest I have ever hit. Swing correctly (smooth, relax, no tension, equal left and right arms, good extention) and stand back and watch the hang time. Great trajectory - not too high and not too low, no sky balls. PS: Out on the course the bang wasn't all that bad, I axctually liked it (surprise). PSS: Prices are dropping. Paid $188 (incl shipping) from EBay.

Model Reviewed: Callaway Driver X460, 10 degree, stock fujikura stiff shaft

I've never thought of writing any kinda reviews on golf club before, BUT this X460 make me do this.

I'm 29 years old, 5'9", USGA handicap 0.6, swing speed 100-105 mph. I bought this club last couple weeks because launcher 460 comp betrayed me in the tournament, so I thought that it's about the time to change and I'm so glad I did.

I have no idea how this club conform to USGA limit, when you actually hit it the ball explode from the club face like a rocket also the nice brass band sound ( the only bad thing is even when you didn't hit them; like chunk or topped it the sound still there even when ur ball went only 150-200 yards...and because of that brass band sound you kinda always get attention from people...can you imagine... ki ki ).

Today I just bomb it, 1 on par 4, 323 yards with a little help of wind from behind, not only that I made 300+ drive 3 holes today (all three play along the wind) , my MAX from ignite 410 (speeder 652 => another great driver)= 290 yards (ignite 460=SUCK!!!), MAX from 460 comp=275 (prolaunch 65S = the most accurate--you will always be in fw but lack of distance for me !!!)

I decided to give X460 with stocked shaft a try ...and I loved it ... it worked perfect for me ...stocked shaft work spectacular for me as well as the ball didn't go too high just superb trajectory ...I've looked down on callaway driver for a long time but X460 make me change my mind completely (also I got a deal from local pro...buy X460 driver, I got X-tour 3 woods for free coz I don't like heaven woods...what a deals !!!)

I've tried R7 425 and R7 460 as well, I just couldn't get the same distance as I got from X460 (missed hit still fly 230-250 yards can you believed that !!!)

Do yourself a favor, go get fitted and try this stick you'll love'em...and understand what I was talking about...
(FT-3 is also good driver but there were 2 reasons that unacceptable for me; one:FT-3 looked uglier that X460, two:Do you want to pay 100 bucks more?)

Have fun and enjoy your golf game..(^_^)

Model Reviewed: Callaway x460 Driver

I'm 60 with a pacemaker/defibrillator, installed about a year ago. On my road to recovery, I made a long expensive quest to find the ultimate Driver. I owned just about every club on Golf Digest Hot List. I decided to try the X460 about a month ago and knew from my first drive off the tee that my quest
had ended. The X460 almost feels illegal and the ball seems to spring off the face of the club. Hits off the toe and heel yielded suprisingly straight and long results. I am currently using the x460, 9.5 with the Fujikura Tour Platform stiff shaft. The club feels softer with this combination and the easier I swing the Longer the Ball Goes.
My main ball is the Pro V1s, but tried a Callaway Tour ball and Wow. Talk about a hot combination. My drives are now averaging 270 yards and much more accurate. Kind of nice to be using shorter clubs to the greens.

WOW!!! Great Driver!!! Have been using an Adams Redline RPM 460 neutral for the last couple of years and liked it, but was starting to slice it way too often, so I tried the X460 along with all the others at a demo day(hibore, ping G5, nike SQ, ect.) The X460 was the straightest and longest of all the drivers I tried. The 2 degrees of closed face also took care of my slicing. If you have a slice this club is a must try. Some people have complained about the sound, but I happen to like it. It reminds me of when I played baseball and hit a homerun off the sweet spot of my aluminum bat that twank sound. I love that sound at the college baseball games off the bats. So to me it's fine, especially when I'm right down the middle of my fairway and not someone else's. The feel is great, again like the homerun, you know right away you hit it on the screws and it goes and goes. I have picked up at least 20-25 yards of carry, so the face is very hot. Even the mis hits heel/toe have stayed in play with good distance. Better players need to try the tour model with the square face. For me, the distance I'm getting has allowed me to play my wedges alot more than usual. Don't buy another driver until you at least demo one of these and with their promotion of getting a free hybird(heavenwood)its a pretty good deal. I also like the stock fujikura shafts, set up to the ball is great and pleasing to the eye.....
Good luck.....

Model Reviewed: Callaway X-Tour 9.5 degree

First of all let me start by stating that I'm a Taylor Made guy. Having to use the X-Tour driver due to my Taylor Made r5 tp being repaired, I demoed the the x-tour 9.5 with a pro-launch stiff shaft and boy was I pleased. My normal shot is to draw the ball, but I will sometimes get in a bad habit of really hooking the ball. After a couple of rounds with the X I did not hook the ball once. I won't say that I hit every fairway, but I wasn't far off nor was I in deep rough left, overall it kept me in play all day. I even managed a couple of fades when I needed that shot. I feel this head and shaft combo allowed me to really get after it with my swing without worrying about hooking the ball. My confidence grew with every swing. It must be the low torque on the pro-launch that it helped minimize my hooks into nice draws. This club is about 10-20 yards longer than my TP(average drive 270). I think I'm going to put the pro-launch in my TP to better compare the the two, but overall as of right now, the X-Tour is the club for me. The sound is great. My playing partners had taken whack at this club and all were right down the middle, longer than their own drives by 10-20 yards. Needles to say I bought this club and they threw in the free hybrid along with it, how can you beat that.

Demo'ed the X460 for three rounds and shot in the upper 70's each time, 5-7 strokes better than my recent prior rounds. I hit 10-12 fairways per round versus 6-8 before with my Nike Ignite.
Drives are about 250 and straight. Age 58, swing speed 100 mph and the easier I swing the longer and straighter the ProVx ball seems to go. I'm going to purchase the club, so hopefully my game doesn't regress back to the mid-80's once I own the club!

Model Reviewed: X460 9* w/ GD YS-6+

First of all, let me say that Callaway did a GREAT job when they made this club. This club is LONG!! I've been playing from places on par 4's I never have before, and it's been alot of fun. This club hits the ball with a very boring, mid/low launch and very little spin, which is great for distance.

However, unless you are struggling with a serious slice, get the tour model. I used to play a slight fade and wanted to move to a slight draw, so I got the regular model with the 2* closed face. Well all was good and well until I started duck hooking every time I try to turn the ball over a bit. I am reasonably certain that I would have loved the Tour model with the square face, but I'm going to give the r7 460 a try first.

All in all, a reasonably forgiving, very long club, but try both models out extensively before you pick one or the other. And if you're going to buy one, do it before july 31 and get the free hybrid, that is truly an unbelievable deal.

Try Taylormamde, Cleveland, Nike and Callaway drivers at one demo in May. Love the Cleveland Hybore and Callaway X 460 drivers. Right now, Callaway had a buy one get one free deal. I went and got the Callway X460 driver with Fujika regular stick with a free 5 heavenly wood for $299 at the local dealer. I hit the driver this weekend. The sound is ver different from the old one I got (Cobra 454 composite). I love it. It seems to hit farther than my old dirver about 10-15 yards. Is it straighter? It still depends upon how I hit it. I would say that I am impressed.

The cally x460 tour is a great stick. Just moved up from the GBB II. The 460cc takes a while to get comfortable with but when you put a smooth stroke on this club it is long and forgiving. I happen to like the "smack" heard at impact with the extremely hot face.

Model Reviewed: 460 X

i recently had a chance to try a friends new X driver, 9* with a stock Fuji S flex. First one was 280 right down the middle, with a smooth swing. Next one was 325, also right down the pipe. yes, I know that everyone, especially 13 year olds hits 300+ drives all the time, but this is the real stuff. I am 6'1", 220 and I can hit them pretty good... but lately with either a big hook or sometimes a block right. The X driver was so easy to set up with, and it really seemed that it wanted to go straight down the middle. So, of course, I bought one right away on Ebay, great deal, same exact model. I am impressed with the stock shaft. Just for some quick info, most stock shafts in the past have been a bit "iffy", but they are getting MUCH better... my old driver, a MAC Burrows had a stock Fuji as well, and I discovered that they designed it special for Burrows (now out of business). Fuji liked it so much they released the same shaft for themselves, and called it the Tour Platform, now a $100+ shaft. The stock Fuji for TM is also a winner, the Reax. I find my Fuji stock shaft to be comparable, and far superior to the Aldila NV shafts, which I really didn't like at all. This driver is the best I have owned. Well worth a very serious look.
P.S. the knucklehead who shoots in the 90's (see review)and has a Speeder 757 S flex is nuts, no way a 20 hdcp can handle that shaft, it is as stiff as rebar, thats why he couldn't get any distance out of it!!

Customer Service

Not used, but Callaway, along with Ping, is the best.
