Long time reader, first time poster. This club is so awesome I just had to write a review. My search for a driver is over! As a tried and true club junkie I've literally hit everything searching for that perfect driver. This club sets up extremely well for me. It's beautiful! It's also long and accurate. It's very forgiving and finds the fairway. I played with a friend the other day and we usually hit the driver the same but I was getting 15 to 20 yards on him all day! He was suitably impressed. I love this driver enough to go to the trouble to register and post if that tells you anything. It's long, beautiful, and easy to hit, what more can I say?

Chose this driver after having tested over a dozen drivers on a launch monitor. My ball path with this club is a slight draw and am averaging 210 yards off the tee in two rounds of actually play. I have a 10.5 degree model and have achieved a better ball flight than I was getting out of a Callaway 13 Degee Big Bertha. My length is about 10 yards longer. I like the shape, cosmetics, and the feel of the hits. This is the first driver i have had confidence in since I sold my Cobra SS350's a year and a haflf ago. (Since then I have owned 2 models of Titleists, 3 models of Clevelands, 3 models of Callaways, 1 Taylor Made, and even another Cobra. By the way, I am NOT proud of that level of driver rotation!) I have not said to myself that I had a keeper until now. If you have trouble getting the ball airborn, or blocking shots, try this club.

Model Reviewed: King Cobra Comp 414, 10.5 stiff

My natural swing induces a light to strong fade so I felt I needed a club to help dial that out, and this club works! It has a slightly closed face and draw-bias weighting on the sole of the club. Better players who prefer to work the ball at will shouldn't use this club. (Although working the ball is possible to a limited extent). The claim by Cobra is that the carbon fiber composite top drops more weight towards the back and bottom of the club promoting a higher launch trajectory--I can't disagree because the launch trajectory on this club is high. If anything, this club is beautifully crafted and the carbon fiber composite top looks trick! (The Comp driver head cover is different from the standard SZ driver cover--the top of the cover is done up with a composite look fabric--very cool!) Driving the ball long is my strength and this club really helps, in addition to adding accuracy and distance. I have a swing speed of approximately ~105 mph and consistently take my drives out 280+ yards (carry & roll). Most importantly though, I am hitting more fairways than before, and that's a good thing no matter how you look at it. I've compared the sound of my 414 Comp to the standard Cobra SZ drivers. The SZ drivers tend to release a loud plang that is remniscient of aluminum baseball bats. It's not a bad thing if you like that type of sound, but I prefer the slightly more muffled sound of the 414 Comp. It isn't a "dead" sound at all that may be characterized by drivers with a carbon fiber construction; in fact, it's very lively and confidence inspiring--just not piercing. Things to note that may be of issue are the weight and loft/trajectory. This club is very light! I personally love lighter clubs as they help me to gain that little extra yardage on my drives by allowing me to swing a little faster with equal or less effort. The stock Mitsubishi Rayon SL-45 shaft is light and stable...a high quality shaft in my opinion. The second issue to note is the loft/trajectory stigma that Cobra drivers have been known to "feel" or "seem" to be higher than stated. There's no doubt this driver will get the ball airborne. The shaft's "low kick" design and the claimed composite crown's benefits both may also contribute to higher ball flight. Conclusion and resolution would be best arrived at by actually testing/hitting these clubs out before you buy them.
