The rise of Cobra golf's popularity probably has much to do with the quality of their recent drivers.
Having demoed this driver along side the Adams Insight XTD, and Taylormade Burner, this particular driver is one of the easiest and straightest I have ever hit. The stock Tour AD shaft works well enough along with the slightly closed face to eliminate slicing/pushing.
Overall, it is one of the best looking drivers on the market, and a strong improvement over the look of last years model.
I would recommend this driver to all handicaps.

Demo'd this at Navy Marine along with L4V, Nike Sumos, TM Burners, & Titleist D2. Despite sound (caused by sole of club, according to Acuchnet rep), much longer than others. My carry distance w/ others was about 190-200 yds into stiff wind using Pinnacle range balls...F carry was about 210-230 even on mis-hits (I now pull hook or duck hook). Planning to buy this club if I can find it used or on sale when new stuff comes out.

BIGGEST LESSON: DEMO SEVERAL CLUBS AT DRIVING RANGE/ON COURSE AT THE SAME TIME!! Unless u really know ur swing tendancies, hitting into store net can be deceiving.

I was playing with one of the younger "guns" of the club, you know what I am talking about, 17 years old, made of elastic and hits the ball miles. He was using this particular driver and was hitting the ball 300 on the fly easy. Cant mistake the ear shattering "BANG" it was making on contact with the ball. I have always been a mid single figure handicapper with a solid game except I am a 12 h'cap driver. Have been looking for "that driver" for years and I think I have found it. Bought the 9 dg loft model, maybe the 10.5 may have been better as I sometimes have difficulty getting the height I want, but in all other aspects is first class, especially in consistency, I just dont hit the ammount of bad drives I would normally hit with other drivers. Love the big head size and high, big face gives a lot of confidence. Drives my mates crazy with that distinctive loud "BANG" sound it makes on contact. Have never heard another club that makes so distinctive a sound. It can actually be heard all over the course, it is mad!! Love this club, cant really see me changing it.

Bought the 2007 model 9.0 Deg that was on clearance sale (S$320). A very forgiving club matched with a good shaft (Aldila NVS). Albeit the "unusual" clanking sound, the driver provided consistent distance (220m) and you can feel the weight of the driver's head very well during the down swing. With a slight draw bias, it has also corrected my previous slices - getting straighter shots now. Suggest that the grip be thickened/ adjusted according to hand size as this enhanced the control of the driver. Did the grip adjustment by a pro who also tested the swing speed of the driver and found it suitable for my case (hard hitter). Another suggestion (after trying out at natural driving ranges and during course play) - try to tee the ball about 1/3 above the height instead of the usual 1/2 ball above; and you will probably hit the sweet spot much more often....this was after much training and trying out during games....and you will also lower the already "high launch" nature of the trajectory design. I tried the 2008 version at the driving range and found that the Graphite Design Tour Shaft to be a bit too stiff and lacked the feel compared to the 2007 version.

Just purchased a Taylor Made Burner (clearance sale) to compare with the Speed LD and also to validate if the Golf Digest Hot List is indeed accurate.

I tried the 2008 model Cobra LD F Speed (in regular flex), but I actually hit the 2007 model better (not as high of a trajectory & straighter). It's probably because the shaft fits my swing better (I have the 2007 model 3 wood as well).

The 2007 model was also on sale for $199!

I don't mind the loud BANG as it sounds like the ball goes a really long way. It sounds like an aluminum baseball bat, so some may not like it.

Using an indoor ball launch monitor I tested the 2008 Callaway HyperX Tour, the Cleveland XLS+, the 2008 TM Burner and the Ping G10. Probably because of the shaft, I consistently hit the LD F Speed longer and straighter - 100 mph swing speed, 146 mph ball speed, avg 3000 rpms, goes 250 - 275 yds depending on whether I hit the sweet spot. :)

I used to play a Cleveland Launcher, Comp. Fantastic club. Love the shaft and it goes a long way. The Cobra LD F Speed is only 5 - 10 yds longer, but more forgiving because of its larger face & MOI.

I bought the 2007 model LD F 9* loft stiff flex Aldila NV F about six months ago. I've put about 50 rounds on it now, and overall I'd rate it a 5, but I'd say it's certainly not for everyone. I'm 50 and I still hit the ball as far or farther than I ever have, which is 260 +- with benign conditions on the range, more like 240+- on the course. The pros of this club is that I'm rarely out of the fairway. It's probably the most accurate driver I've used. The size of the clubhead makes the 45" shaft seem more like a 43.5 old school shaft to me, which adds confidence as far as accuracy. The cons of the club are that distance wise you won't be the long ball in your foursome, at least not if your buddies are all single digit handicaps. As was stated in another review, it's great with a tailwind but wants to baloon if you're hitting into a headwind. So long as you can keep your head behind the ball at impact it performs well enough into the wind that the tradeoff in distance versus accuracy makes it a welcome addition in my bag. Combine that with the drop in retail, especially on Ebay now that the 2008's are out and it's a good club for those who place a premium on accuracy. If you find yourself wanting to be the long driver of your group I'd look elsewhere.

Bought this club new off the sale rack at a course I visited for a good price. First time I've ever bought a driver without testing one but I liked the looks and just wanted one with a HUGH head. First time I hit it I nearly jumped out of my shorts...wasn't prepared for loud BANG! I like the fact that the sound annoys some of my golf buddies. First round with it I never hit a bad drive and only missed one fairway. A little harder to work left and right than some of my other drivers, seems like it just wants to go straight down the fairway. (not a bad thing) Has a giant sweet spot, hard to miss. Gets the ball up a little to high, probably due to midpoint kick on stock shaft. Great when hitting downwind...not so much into wind. A little more carry than my Callaway but less roll, overall distance about the same. Biggest advantage I've found with this Cobra driver is that it's just a whole lot of fun to hit.

I have only had this club for a short time, but so far no complaints. I picked it up because it was a crazy deal and the few balls I hit on the test range spoke for themself. This club is about 20-30 yds longer than my previous drivers and I normally struggle with a low ball flight, but not with this club. the ball rockets into the air with a loud BANG!! As mentioned in other reviews the noise at impact does take some getting used to, but finding your drives in the fairway all day makes the sounds easier to deal with. And personally I like drawing attention to a drive I just smoked right down the middle!! I'm not totally sold on the stock shaft and may end up switching in the near future, but that's just me. I too found you can't really let go with a drive if you want to avoid a nasty hook. Opening the face at address does help somewhat, but to me a better suited shaft to my swing would easily correct this. It's only been about a month with this new beast and we are already good friends, and the Cobra F Speed LD is just that a BEAST!!

I had tried this club twice in rental sets while I was on vacation and on the way home from the 2nd trip, I stopped by the store and purchased one. This club is 30 yards longer than my TaylorMade R540 and much more forgiving. I usually struggle to hit 3 fairways a round and with this I'm now up 8 a round and the miss hit drives usually end up slighly left and 1-2 yards in the rough. The sound is honestly terrible, as it sounds like you're hitting a baseball with an aluminum bat, but with the results I could care less.
