Three words. Believe the hype!!! I was never a big believer in the new technology. Put it this way, I was pretty stubborn in regards to refusing to carry around "one of those emormous drivers". But I began to get tired of going golfing with my father and having the "old man" consistantly out-driving me with his "beast of a driver" (Snake Eyes Fired Forged, not even that large compared to some of the 400+ drivers) So the search began. Thanks you you all here at golfreview.com, the decision was made, the auction was won and the Cobra was on its way. Drove directly to the driving range to try her out. First hit, right down the pipe...pretty long! Nice. Second hit, right down the pipe, even longer. Wow. Needless to say, I had to stop halfway through the bucket because I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't seem to NOT hit a ball down the middle. So I gathered myself, and once I started up again, I got distracted by somebody yelling in the background. "Hey, stop hitting them over the fence!!" Wait, was he talking to me??? YEAH HE WAS!!! I've gained probably 15-20 yards with this thing. I went from a 10.5* to this 9* but still hitting just as high (not too high) I will probably re-shaft at some point, as the 5.1 Stiff Shaft just isn't all that stiff and, when I crank one up, I have a tendency to lose a couple to the left (lefthanded). But no complaints here. I am one proud new owner of "one of those emormous drivers!!"

The only other driver that I've hit (other than into nets at the shop) is my XPC Plus 10.5 Offset. But that is no where near "similar" to the Cobra.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews on this club prior to actually getting a chance to try it out. The research paid off! Thanks to many of you who had such great results, this club is now a favorite in my bag. I can say that this club has helped my game tremendously. The 380cc head is just the right size, and the sound it makes is AWESOME! (definitely gets the attention of those around you, beware of confused looks from your golf mates as you crank this baby up). The only modification I have made is to the shaft. It came with the factory Cobra YS 5.1 Stiff flex, and I found it to feel to light and whippy. I upgraded to the new Aldila NV shaft (75 gram, Stiff Flex) and WOW! A good thing got better! I liked it so much, I bought the matching SS 3-wood and its excellent as well. I would recommend this club to anybody who is looking for great playability and distance, but without the high price tag of the other big name drivers. Long and Straight with Confidence to Spare! Thanks Cobra!

I bought a demo and tried it out today at the range for the first time today. Now so you know, the weather here is cold 40 degrees. First 10 shots seemed the same as my other drivers. But, after lossening up a little and taking a slow and little longer backswing...there it was. The red flag is measured at 233yrd. I would say I carried 15-20 past.I seemed to hit a slight fade or draw, all within 20 yards of center. When hit right the ball does launch higher than the loft.I can't wait until it warms up and "real" balls not range. I can honestly say I hit it about 20-30 yrds farther than my best before.Sure will make second shots easier.

I had a long weekend and played golf Saturday, Sunday & Monday. I used the Taylor Made 580, Titleist 983K and Cobra SS380 and now can't decide which one I like best. I reshafted the Cobra with a GD YS7 stiff. Of the 3 I think the Cobra is the most accurate. The TM 580 with the same shaft might be a wee bit longer but not as accurate. This is a really good club. I know they have the Cobra SZ out now but I'll stick with this club for now.

To call this a nice driver would be an understatement. Very comfortable size. I struggled with an Adams Redline before making the switch. Very consistent distance and accuracy. This one will stay in the bag for a while. The YS-5 (stiff)is a good shaft for my swing speed (96).

Model Reviewed: Cobra SS 380 7.5*

Best driver ever made in my opinion! easy to hit, consistantly long, and very forgiving. The lofts are rather higher then stated, my 7.5* hits almost like a 9.5*. I have switched driver to the TaylorMade R510TP but I will never sell the Cobra. The only reason I switched is because I felt like I was cheating with a closed face driver. So I got the Taylormade. The only driver that even comes close to the Cobra But at $599.00 retail for the tour Prefered model you can buy several Cobra's. I wish that Cobra would make this driver with a square face and recheck their loft system to get it right. Other then that it is one of; if not; the best drivers that I have ever hit.

I traded my Cobra 350 in the beginning of the '03 season for the Cobra 380 I have now. Never tried Cobra until the '02 season while taking a lesson at my course. The 350 seemed to cure my unpredictable fade... Outcome of the lesson: the shaft stiffness. But the 350 seemed to give me a tad bit more distance, more consistant and it looked good to me. The only reason I traded the 350 in for the 380 is beause I fight swinging too hard most times... I swing easy for control and the larger head gives me PLENTY of distance. This has helped my game even more!!!! I even tried new the Titlest K model this year more than once after my buddy bought one. It's a nice club but didn't give me an overwhelming reason to get rid of something that's been there for me very consistantly. I play the tips not becuase I'm stratch (I'm an 11) but becuase I'm farly long off the tee. And, man, I LOVE how the ball jumps off the tee and the ball flight of my 380. Results are usually right down the cleavage! Now if I can sink those 4 or 5 putts a round that usually is the difference in scoring mid 70s and low 80s. Golf on, golfers!!!!!!!!!!!!

This club is really excellent. Sunday after I hit a nice straight booming drive for the 5th time, one of the guys I was playing withasked what I was hitting.Mine is 9 degrees with the Graphite Design YS5 stiff. The standard shaft Cobra has for this club. Club is accurate and long compared to my past drivers.

I was interested in the new Ping Si3. I took the Si3 on round of golf to demo and didn't hit it well, at all. I was thinking that it was me nasty swing and needed to work and take sometime to get familar with. So, the next day I took the Si3 and a friend's 380cc King Cobra to the driving range. I started hitting the Ping and had some all right shots, but nothing my old Callaway Warbird Driver couldn't do. I had about 10 balls left and decided to try the King Cobra. I swear I hit every one straight as can be. I went right home called my friend told him I wanted this driver. Two days later I was a proud owner of a own 380cc. My first round I can't believe it - 10 out of 13 drives were straight down the middle - all bout' the same distance (270-280 yards) - one was over 300. I laughed everytime I struck the ball and heard the loudest sweet spot sound I have ever heard - One guy I played with has a brand new Taylormade R580 ($500) and he was using my 380cc on the back nine. I think that this club will put me into the 300+ yard range once I get used to it.

As a beginner,i was looking for a driver that is forgiving. I had tried the Cleveland Launcher 400 and was impressed by it. When i went to to my regular golf shop, ready to get the Launcher, the price of this Cobra made me take a second look. The sales manager recommended it over the Launcher and I knew from this website that Cobra driver is also very highly rated and i took the chance to get it without trying it. I wasted no time in trying it out at the range. The first few shorts are long, though not dead straight in the center. After some getting used to, the next few shots went dead straight, and long. The huge sweet spot really worked wonder for a beginer like me. Off center shots went only slightly to the sides and lost little distance. The slice that i tend to have been drastically reduced. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a long, forgiving driver without that usual huge head in most other forgiving drivers.

Customer Service

Hopely wouldn't need it but if something goes wrong, i'm sure my retailer would gladly help me with it.
