This is a great club. I modified it severely though. I yanked out the stock shaft and had a Grafalloy ProLite r 45+ shaft put in. When you spec out the Grafalloy at 45" you will see that the stiff flex is really extra stiff and the regular is just a few cycles off of a standard stiff. You would not believe the difference this makes in this club. All you have to do is take it up to the top and let it go. You can feel the head load up and it just slams into the ball. The head makes a wonderful sound at impact to. Ball flight is as low as a Titleist 975D. It also has about 5-10 yards on the 975D. Take the head and stick a good shaft in it and this club is fantastic. I hit the accel-arc (standard mizuno) shaft at the range. It was ok but it felt a little mushy and there was a huge amount of "play" through the impact zone. If your swing varies in speed 90 - 95 - 100 you will spray shots all over the place because of the flex in the tip of this shaft combined with what seems to be a high torque. Take a tip if you want this club and call Mizuno's custom department, they will say they cannot put any other shafts in these clubs, but they can and they will, so find out what you play best and go from there. The shaft is the main reason people like one club over a next. Granted you can put a firesole head on Taylor mades great shafts and it's still junk, but get your swing rated; speed, arc, plane, whatever and find out what shaft fits you, stick it in your trusty driver and enjoy the results. Mizuno Forged Ti.
This is an update from a previous review. This club can be really long if you swing it right. It has a sweet spot that seems to respond to a flatter swing plane (at least with me) but if you miss it you get very so-so distance. I have it with the ProForce 65 Regular which is probably just not stiff enough for my swing speed. I have the 975D with the ProForce 65 stiff and prefer it over this club although the Mizuno has an unbelievable feel when you hit the sweetspot...a cannon firing comes to mind. I would say if you tattoo it on the exact spot you will get more carry yardage than the Titleist but the 975D yields more roll. Customer Service I custom ordered this since I am a lefty and they shipped it within a week. Now you can buy them over the counter now. Mizuno forged driver
Purchased this driver after hitting one on the recommendation of my local pro. The club with a 270cc head is just about right for my comfort zone. When struck in the sweet spot the ball jumps off the face. Was hitting a Ping ISI. I know the Ping works well for a lot of people but I just could never hit it well. My mis-hits (which happen more often than I would like to admit) with the Mizuno seem to not lose as much yardage and/or accuracy. I would also recommend the UST Pro Force 65 stiff shaft. My swing speed is about 105 -108 and the shaft feels very lively and responsive. Very nice. Overall a superb package. Similar Products Used: Ping Isi, Callaway VFT |

Forged Ti 8* w/UST Proforce 65 Stiff
AWESOME !!-It is amazing what technology is doing. I was never a Mizuno fan until recently when I purchased a set of MP-33's. Then when I tried this driver I was made a believer. The shaft is slightly heavier and has a higher kick point than the stock shaft which gives a more boring trajectory.Looks great, feels great and incredible distance, can even work the ball. If someone is in the market for a driver, they should give this one a try. Similar Products Used: Orlimar, Titleist 975D, Callaway, McHenry Metals |

Forged Ti. 10* UST Proforce Stiff
When hit well, I have found no driver that can compare to this. It can produce HUGE distances, better than any other driver I have tried and I have tried them all. But, with the Pro Force shaft, mis-hits can turn into duck hooks in a hurry, when I try to jump on one. So, the pro Force is definitly a superior shaft to the stock, but higher handicappers may want to stick with the stock which is a bit more forgiving, but not as accurate on average. On tight courses i may play my backup driver, but on open courses I am going to wail away on this. BTW, this club is 30 yards longer than my old Cobra Ti, 15 yards longer than 975D, 10 yards longer than MacGregor Tourney Ti and Precept 260 LS, both of which are also good drivers Similar Products Used: All |
