I bought this club used from TGW.com and had a great experience with them. Great Buy. This club is extremely nice looking club, and performance is equally impressive. Drives carry 10-15 yrds longer then my Taylor Made 360, but the biggest difference I noticed is it reduced ball RPM's and allowed me to drive much straiter and hit more fairways. Miss hits travel well, but hit it on the screws and the ball has great carry and roll.

Customer Service

Recieved great customer support from tgw.com. Haven't had to deal with Ping yet.

I'm an 8 hcp and have a driver swing speed of about 95-100 mph. I have been very pleased with this club. Same to slightly longer than the Launcher 460 with same shaft I had been playing. I think the swing weight is a tad lighter. Very easy to swing and quite forgiving. I will be keeping this one in the bag.

No experience yet. This is the first Ping club I have owned.

This is a very fine driver. It is the first driver I have hit that seems to be amenable to hitting like an iron. Hard to explain what I mean, but drives really respond well to an iron-style swing. This is also one of the first big-headed drivers for which I've been able to find the sweet spot. Control appears to be excellent, particularly when compared to my Cleveland Launcher Comp-which is a really fine club, too, but control can sometimes be an issue. I also opted for the stock shaft as I like the mid trajectory launch better than can be achieved with the Aldila (lower) or Pro Launch (higher). Prior to purchasing this club, I explored the Callaway Fusion FT-3, but my fitting showed it to be a poor performer in my hands.

Ping CS has always been first class.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 10.5 stock shaft X-stiff

I was fit by Ping for the G2 driver and the stock shaft fit me best. It gave me the optimum trajectory, spin and carry for my 118 + MPH swing speed. The G2 was great but this G5 is even better. I have experienced even less spin on the launch monitor. I was able to go to an even higher loft at 10.5 for more control yet I did not give up any carry. I actually gained 5-10 yards of carry while decreasing sidespin and thus increasing accuracy. I would never recommend buying a driver without being fit on a monitor OR having an experienced PING man watch you hit a bunch of balls. If experienced their trained eye is just as good as a monitor. The stock shaft is awesome. It has a softer tip which decreases my miss which is a hook. The Aldila NV and the Pro-launch do not impress me at all but they may fit your swing quite well. I hit more hooks with those shafts but I guess they are designed with the slicers in mind. The G5 has the same feel as the G2 and hits it just as far on mis-hits. The face is square just like the G2 and not closed 2 to 5 degrees like most drivers on the market. If you are a strong player who wished to decrease hooks I highly recommend it. I like to hit the ball high with lots of carry. I play in may amateur events and the fairways are hard and fast so any shot a bit offline will find the trees or run thru the doglegs. This club has given me the best control I ever experienced and has actually increased my carry just a bit. I don't notice the distance when I actually play compared to the G2 but I do notice the control and workability. Both the G2 and G5 are outstanding drivers and the best I ever hit. The G5 allows you to play a higher loft as I said before do to decreased spin rate. Higher loft equals greater control. Check it out!

Customer Service

PING is second to none in service. I order clubs and get them only days later. rarely do I ever have to call them because I can often find PING reps at the course I play. I never run into other reps with such frequence. Ping reps are highly knowledgeable of their products and always willing to talk. By the way, I was fit by the same guy who fits Chris Dimarco and I get to hear his feedback on Ping products as well. A+++ in service

The all new Ping G5 driver, is simply a great driver. I recently put down my FT-3 Tour for the G5. I have to say I won't use the FT-3 again. The ball speed and trajectory of the G5 is unbelievable. I also believe it is far superior to the G2. The club seems hotter and the face a bit more responisve even on off-center hits. I went from probably 50% fairways hit to 65-70%. My overall distance hasn't changed still on about 290 average. I would recommend this club for anyone. Just make sure the shaft and loft combination is right for your swing speed and fire away. Wonderful club!!

Customer Service

Top Notch! Recently sent my 8-iron in with a bent shaft. The repaired it and shipped it to me Next Day Air free of charge. Very helpful.

I have the G2 10^ with the proforce stiff and love the thing. I actually slept with it a couple nights after a few to many beers. The G5 is NO different. It's the same club as I tried the G5 with a 10.5 and same shaft. I have zero idea why they released this as I could hit balls bindfolded and it would go in the exact same spot. If you have a G2 right now, you have a G5. But it is the still the best driver out there.

For me this was a terrible match of head and shaft. I was playing G2 10 degree with NVS regular shaft. Wanted to increase launch and ball flight with the G5 10.5, but only achieve hitting drives 20-30 yards shorter. Had my friends hit the driver with the same result. They could not believe how much shorter and less accurate the G5 Prolaunch combination was. Worst driver configuration I have ever hit, and I have truly hit them all. Traded the G5 in after its first and only round in my bag for the G2 with NVS regular and 11.5 loft. Much better results in all areas that matter, distance, direction, feel, consistency. Ping has a great driver but the Prolaunch is not the shaft for this club. Have hit Prolaunch in other driver heads with much better results.

This driver is exactly like the G2. The weight inside may be distributed a little differently, but it's essentially the same club. It's fairly long, maybe a little less forgiving than the G2. The sound is great and the shafts it comes with are awesome. If you're an equipment junkie and always want the newest equipment, purchase this driver. If you're happy with your G2, stick with it, because there's not enough of a change to bother switching.
