SMT Golf Nemesis Drivers

SMT Golf Nemesis Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Head only. We have combined 3 different strains of Titanium in one head to produce the highest quality head ever produced that is available to the consumer in component form. We had a unique opportunity to jump into the vaccum forging field with this head, and based on our testing, will most likely re-tool our existing heads to follow suit. "Vacuum Forged", is basically a method that uses warm materials ( titanium ), and actually "sucks" them to shape while at the same time, removing any and all air that is trapped inside the titanium. The result is a product that has an orange peel look, that has to be hand filled with more titanium, to bring the club to it''''''''s final finished luster. The process takes 3 times longer than traditional forging, but the solid feel it produces is umatched through traditional methods of manufacture.

Model Reviewed: SMT Nemesis 9 deg/VS339

Posted: 03/28/04 4:09:33 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today was a great. It was the first time I was able to go drive some balls at the range. The Club is a 9 degree SMT Nemesis with R flex VS339 shaft. Feel: The first ball with my Nemesis was like Wow! The ball came off the face very hot. The sound is muted, but that's a plus for me. For example, my other driver is a mellow yellow HL shafted with a harrison striper. When I hit this driver, It's like a big hollow sound. But with the Nemesis, sound is more like a stainless head. Trajectory: With all reviews here on the Nemesis, I tought that my trajectory would be very low. So I teed it very high, the ball was all over the crown and the trajectory was great. A boring trajectory, not too low, not too high. With my mellow yellow, I was ballooning the ball, but that was with a 14 deg driver. Distance: This is were the Nemesis was the clear winner. Wind was about 15 mph to the left. For me it's bad because I'm lefty and I tend to slice the ball. But Thanks to the VS339, my bad shots were a fade of about 10 yards. This is why I gained distance over the Mellow yellow. My best drives with the MY were about 15 yards shorter than the Nemesis, but much more to the left. The VS339 is the best shaft I tried. I will shaft my woods with this shaft now. For the distance, the carry was about 240 and the MY was 220-225. Some of my drives with the Nemesis were in the 260 range. Forgiveness was good, about a 10 yards loss, but no slice for me!The temperature was around the freezing point, so I was hitting rocks. I am very exited for the summer with my early results. Finally, there is no comparison between the striper and the VS339. 2 times more expensive but worth every penny.

This is definitely a solid hitting driver. The Nemesis/Assissin 2 combination mentioned at the golfclubreview.com website has lived up to expectations. My average drive is up over 10-15 yards and my control has definitely shown improvement also. Have hit other drivers as far but the Nemesis is very consistent. It may be a little difficult to work but it is not subject to wild slices or hooks. The 9 degree driver suits me fine. In the past I have used a 3 wood on tight fairways off the tee but I am not as leery about using the Nemesis on narrow fairways. SMT has produced a fine product.

What a great club! I have always been a strong iron player and have had problems driving the ball. But no more! No matter what driver I used 250 yards was my max. I bought the Nemesis with a Harrison Pro 2.5 stiff shaft. But I hit the ball too high. So I went out and bought the Grafalloy Blue stiff and hit it much farther but still to high. Finally I installed the TT Bimatrix Rxi regular and wow! I'm hitting it 260-280 now. The Bimatrix shaft is excellent if I tee it high I can carry it over just about any dogleg. Using a regular tee I can get a much more boring trajectory. I love the sound of the club. No "DING" or "PLINK." It's more of a muted "Crush". I couldn't be happier.

I have tried a lot of drivers, I always seem to go back to the 975d and 975j. I've always been an OEM guy. But after seeing the RE-Max long drive competiton and doing a little research and discovering how inexpensive this club was along with a lifetime warrenty on the head, I thought I'd take a shot. What a surprise!! I had an Accuflex Pro-extra stiff shaft installed in it and I have hit some of the longest drives of my life. I have always hit the ball long but not like this!! I have now used it for one golf season and I just sold my Titleist drivers... I presently have 4 friends who purchased the Nemesis after trying mine. Highly recommended!!!

Model Reviewed: SMT Nemesis 10* Driver

I put this driver together w/ a PURED Grafalloy Prolite 35 graphite shaft. Simply put, this is the best driver I have ever hit!!! I have a 10 degree head for forgiveness, and a high kickpoint shaft. The ball leaps off of the face w/ a low-med trajectory. I hit it on a course for the first time last week in Florida on Vacation. First tee 460yd. par 4, I drove it 330yds(wind aided). Because of the tremendous roll I got, I just aimed at the hills or high points on the fairways, which were mowed tight, and hopped into the cart to see the results!! It was fantastic, I was driver, PW, on most long par 4's !!!! I consistently outdrove my playing partners by 20-30 yds. They were in awe every time I hit it, even my miss hits looked awesome. The price is simply a give away @$89. I'm buying a second one so I can try a different shaft combo. The head is just beautiful; they put a great paint job on it, it's a deep royal blue that sparkles like a custom car in the sun. The groveless face is very attractive, and the 370cc head inspires confidence w/o feeling like your swinging a VW Beetle on a stick! I bought this club w/o ever hitting it and only seeing it online because of great and seemingly honest reviews on this site. I encourage you to give it a try, too! For a $89 dollar investment, even if you thought it was trash you could always ebay it and recoup something.

Model Reviewed: SMT Nemesis 10*

I am a short hitter, but fairly accurate which allows me to score low. Like most golfers I seem to be on the never-ending quest for a good driver. After reading all the great reviews on SMT I ordered the Nemesis 10* driver. I'm amazed at all the reviews I read from guys who supposedly hit their drives 300+ yds, but who shoot in the 80-90's. I honestly only carry my driver about 230 yds. but the beauty of the Nemesis is that it produces a nice lower trajectory and tons of roll. When given a smooth swing and hit well the ball does seem to bounce off the face. Alot of times I'll hit what appears to be an average drive (lower trajectory, lots of roll) and think I'm well short of my playing partners. But when we get in the fairway I'm just as far as they are. Since my driver swing speed is only around 95 mph I use a UST TourForce Platinum 60 (regular flex) that give me a higher launch angle and more feel. One thing you have to be careful about this club is the deep bore on the hosel. It is a full 2 inch bore and will make any shaft play almost a full flex stiffer. The first shaft that came with my driver was a UST Proforce Gold 65 Stiff. This is a low torque, tip stiff, low trajectory shaft. Combined with the 2 inch bore of the Nemesis it played like a TELEPHONE POLE! It flexed out at a 7.6! Way too stiff for me. Unless you have a really high swing speed..I would recommend putting a weaker shaft in the club to compensate for the deep bore.(Not to mention the SMT 455 has a 3 inch bore!!) Overall, I like the Nemesis head alot and know it's better than 95% of the oem junk out there. The price is unbeatable also. Just find the best shaft you can buy that fits your swingspeed and launch angle.

Model Reviewed: SMT Nemesis

As a longdriver, I always look for the ultimate distance. But often the longest heads are the most brittle ones. Nemesis is not the longest head, but it is a good compromise between durability and distance. Because of the grooveless face, the back spin effect is at lower level. The ball trajectory is rather low with tons of roll. Using a four degree, I'm quite satisfied of it ; I will use it in long drive competitions especially if the grid is very dry and wind is against me. The main advantage of the Nemesis is that it is very hard to break! The feel is a bit like a persimmon: no noise! Just put it on a Penley ETA shaft and you'll get a very good club!

Graphite Design Purple Ice/Stiff, cut to 44", Swingweight of C9. Simply put, this is the nicest driver I've ever owned. Distance is exceptional with plenty of carry and tons of roll, Forgiveness is very good on toe hits and decent on heel hits, trajectory is right for stated loft. The best thing about this club is the sound/feel. The ball seems to explode off the club face. Sweetspot hits are rewarded with a loud but muted pop, and the feel is substantial without being rigid. Drives can be worked right or left, with no trouble. There doesn't seem to be any built in bias.

Customer Service

Absolutely the best. I inadvertently scratched mine, and without even asking, Mike sent me a new one.

Model Reviewed: Nemesis 10* with Assasin 2

This is a beautiful driver! I love the look at address. It has taken me a little work on the range to hit it straight consistantly. Misses tend to be left and low. I would get the x-stiff Assasin 2 next time, the stiff seems too whippy for my swing speed (110-115). I've had my longest drives ever with this club. 310 -330 with dead center hit, tons of roll. It's a sceamer, way longer than the Titlelist or Ping TiSi I was hitting before. I've been surfing e bay for different shaft combos at these prices I'll pick up a couple more.

Model Reviewed: SMT Nemesis 8* Assassin II WC

Playing an 8 deg Nemesis on an Assassin II WC Stiff at 47 1/8" (uncut). I have no trouble seeing good height from the stick. The head and shaft combination is very solid. Equal to any OEM pro line I have tried, can't think of one I haven't tried. Distance from this combination is significantly greater than other setups I have tried. The Adams Redline - w/ Blue shaft gave me the 2nd best results (w/ Nicklaus right in there too but shaft too weak), but nothing like this. I'm really quite pleased with height, carry and roll. Lofts the ball to what I would call above average height, and then it just stays up there. We have a new range at our club. From the back of the back tee, I can hit the range pills off the property. I have never come within 15 yds of that with any other driver. Control is quite a bit easier than I had hoped. Total club weight is manageable. And the stiff shaft is surprisingly "live but stiff" (not boardy) even at this length. I have an accurate repeating swing (most days anyway) and usually hit an awful lot of fairways and greens. If this is you, then you might consider this 47" set up. If it is not, I can tell you that long and wrong is not a step forward. I have no experience with this head / shaft at 45" standard length so I can't help there. But I suspect it will be as good as anything else you can buy. This is my 10th driver (this year) and I've finally found the feel, flight, and result I've been searching for. I'm quite pleased over all and would buy this exact same set up again. Good luck whatever you choose.
