Mint from Ebay for $80 c/w Graf Tour X shaft. Best driver/shaft combination ever. No question. All the new stuff doesn't compare. My movable weight tool for other TM heads doesn't work on this one because there is a raised section in the middle of the screw that prevents it from engaging. OK with me but.....anyone know why. Would need to be a special tool.

Great club ! Left on neutral you can easily work the ball left or right or smack down the middle of the fairway. The rombax stiff 65 shaft is what I play .Set up is important if you play the ball a little more forward on your stance you will get a nice draw with the same swing and a little back you will get a nice fade with the same swing tempo . You really do not have to try and kill the ball to see a great drive with this club. You can also try using the weights that come with this club if you have a hard time driving the ball straight.

Customer Service

Have not needed to call them.Easy to figure out the club . It comes with the how to use the weight kit booklet.

This is the best driver Taylormade has made. I bought this when it first came out several years ago, and nothing before or since compares to it. Taylormade has come out with a gazillion drivers since, and I have tried them all.....and most of them are absolute junk. I wish manufacturers would quit trying to be all things to all golfers and just put out quality.

Who needs 460 cc heads? Not me! I got my R7 Quad from Las Vegas Golf & Tennis for $237 with insured delivery. I used my son's on a recent trip to KC. When I hit it I laughed because I have never driven the ball so far and straight with such a easy swing. I got the same set up when I got home. 9.5* with the Fuji Speeder 757 in stiff. My swing is around 95 mph. I love this club. Since it's "older" technology the prices are coming down. Make sure you splurge a bit and get the better shaft. The speeder is very stable, low torque 2.5 I'd say I'm a hitter with a quicker tempo than a smooth swinger. Also, definitely get the TP model. I'm 58 and the ball just explodes off the face. I've never hit it so well.

I just want buyers to beware that there are counterfeit clubs out there. I bought a driver and 3 wood on the internet thinking they would be a nice gift for my dad's birthday. He had just purchased new clubs and was happy and didn't want to make the change. I decided to trade them for lefties for myself and that is when the problem occurred. I was told they were knock-offs and they could not be accepted. I was also told of what most likely happened. I was told that the R7 is made in China and most likely someone some of the raw material from the plant and finished the clubs elsewhere. Having contacted TaylorMade they say it is not their problem even though I believe they are the source. This is what happens when companies move operations overseas to save on labour. They sacrifice quality and care about the bottom line only. It is their problem nd they won't admit it. Just a coution to the Regular Joe golfers out there like myself. They can't afford a commercial or anything to keep us aware of what is going on.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade R7 Superquad TP

Recently went through a demo day fitting session with the TaylorMade Tour Van rep in quest of improving my distance off the tee. I would be classified more as a "swinger" rather than "hitter" as I possess a smooth swing tempo so I'm not the kind of guy who just bombs it all day long.

Have been playing the Titleist 905T (9.5 degree w/YS-6 'R'-flex shaft) for the past year-and-a-half with good results. 905T launch monitor numbers showed ball speed of 143mph with 240 yard distance on a 97mph swing speed; R7 TP (9.5 degree with 55-gram Fujikura Rombax 'R'-flex shaft) returned 147mph ball speed with 249 yard distance on similar swing speed. Most importantly, carry distance improved by 5 yards. Needless to say, I was impressed after just a dozen shots or so. In fact, it felt as if I'd been playing with this club for the past six nmonths.

The R7 TP model sets up beautifully at address as it is 1 degree open vs. the 1 degree closed spec on the stock R7 Superquad. Has a bit of a "compact" look vs. other 460cc drivers. Extremely solid feeling at impact, even on less-than-perfect strikes. I was amazed at how accurate the R7 is, which, with the added distance, makes for a very nice combination.

Ball flight can be manipulated simply by adjusting the height of the tee or, if you desire, by reconfiguring the interchangeable weights. Great penetrating trajectory into the wind is one of the biggest improvements over the 905T. Shaft is lighter but the added weight in the clubhead (D-3 swingweight vs. D-0) provides outstanding feedback and allows me to be in complete control of the club at all times. This is especially beneficial when I decide to "step on it" and get that extra 10-15 yards when I need it.

After playing four rounds with the R7 and walking off my distance from the tee, I can honestly state that I've gained, conservatively, 10-20 yards. Drives that would normally be in the 240 yard range are now 250-260 yards from the tee.

The key factor in all this was getting properly fit by a knowledgeable and very personable Tour Van rep. No sales pressure whatsoever. Go in with an open mind and try whatever combinations you can in order to find the best fit; I found that I labored while trying to swing the 65-gram Fulikura shaft, although that is the same weight I've been playing in the 905T. Although I still can't believe I "invested" this kind of money in a driver (even with 10% off and a gift card I've been holding onto since Christmas 2005), the results were immediate and exactly what I was hoping for. The upgraded Rombax shaft seems to be the main reason for the spike in the cost vs. the non-TP version. Thank God my neighbor bought the 905T from me for $125.

Customer Service

Dan Ridgway, the Tour Van rep, was very helpful; couldn't ask for a better guy to deal with. Club was assembled later that afternoon in the Tour Van and ready to be picked up later that evening. Magnetic headcover, additional weights, wrench, and information packet were all included with the TP driver.

Absolutely incredible! It is scary easy to hit fairways with so I am a bit skeptical now. This club is very solid and forgiving to say the least. I will have to report back after a couple of months cause this thing can't be this good!!! I had tried the original Taylor Made R7 and it was not right for me. I hit the ball terrible with it. This new Super Quad 460 is a winner. Like I said this thing ain't freaking right! It's so much easier than any driver I have ever owned to launch up the fairway. I just hope I'm not dreaming....

Customer Service

I have not had to use it yet.

Model Reviewed: R7 Quad TP 8.5 Speeder 757 Stiff

I was as sceptical as anyone about these clubs when they first came out. But I have found that Moveable Weight Technology is not a gimmick! After years of frustration trying to find the club that will give me the ideal trajectory and shot shape, I picked up the R7 Quad TP on eBay with a weight kit, went to the TM website and used the 425 TP weight configurator to dial in my ideal swing weight, trajectory, and shot shape. The rest is history. I have never been so long and so consistent in my life. I am longer because I can adjust the center of gravity to be higher in the club which reduces backspin if your swing is steeper, and the combination with the Speeder shaft which has a mid- high kick keeps the ball lower and causes that boring trajectory we all crave. I am more consistent because I adjusted the weight to turn my fade into a very straight or a slight draw shot shape. I now aim right down the middle of the fairway with a square stance and let it rip!
In summation, I know this club is not for everybody, but if you are like me, a person who has a fast, steeper (tour-like) swing and are frustrated by the pop-up machines that are being mass produced and marketed as "high launch" clubs. Get yourself an R7 TP 8.5 with either a stiff Speeder or Diamana shaft (I vary my club head speed to control the ball a bit and have found that the Speeder works as well for a 100 m/h swing as a 110 m/h swing).
P.S. I have also done a lot of research with balls in the past year and have found that of the premium balls that are marketed as low spin balls, the Nike One Black is longer than the Titleist Pro V1x. It seems that Titleist just made the Pro V1x denser than the original Pro V1 which gives it a very hard feel at impact. Compare that with the Nike One Black, which feels very soft (I can personally feel that ball compact and spring of the club face).

So, here is my personal driver equation to control spin (2200 to 2500), lower launch angle (12 degrees or so), and straighten out your driver or dial in your desired shot shape:
Get an R7 Quad TP with 8.5 degrees of loft (don't be afraid of this loft, the moveable weight technology will allow you to dial in your launch angle) with the Speeder 757 stiff flex and a dozen Nike One Black balls!

Customer Service

I actually cracked the face of an R5 Dual Type D and recieved a new club promtly. I also would factor in the TM website as a part of customer service which is excellent.

Ihave spent a small fortune on the amount of drivers this year including 2 R7s, one with the 65mas stiff and the other one with the diamana 63 and all I can tell you is the shaft makes all the difference in the world. The diamana shaft really makes this club very accurate. I have a 108 MPH swing speed and I can hit drives between 250-270 on the fly but with great accuracy. I have learned my lesson, the shaft is the engine that drives the club as the diamana works well with this club. The TP weight kit has allowed me to change the swing weight to D8 which also suits my swing well. This club is not for everybody and I'm still playing with the weights but the combination of shaft, head, and weights has brought me alot of confidence in hitting a straight drive and that is what I am after. Before spending a small fortune on this club make sure the shaft is matched to you swing, it makes all the difference in the world. Keeping the ball in play is one of the keys to lower scores as I have found that in this club
