TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The r5 dual features widely spaced, dual TaylorMade Launch control (TLC) cartridges that are pre-configured and permanent. This positions the weight ideally so you don't have to. With Launch Control promoting an extremely high MOI (moment of inertia) and proper clubhead rotation, the r5 dual Type N delivers remarkable forgivness and a straight ball flight while the r5 dual Type D provides a draw. Meanwhile, the exceptionally large 450cc titanium clubhead not only looks substantial at address, but it also gives you solid contact, consistently straighter shots and of course, confidence. And with TaylorMade's revolutionary inverted Cone Technology, the expanded COR of the r5 results in higher ball velocity on off center hits for longer, more consistent drives.

I have been compelled to leave a review for anyone out there looking for that "special" driver the taylormade R5 N is it. It sets up square at address and is LONG and straight as an arrow and the kicker is I got it off of Ebay for 200 bucks, feels like I stole something for the price and performance I'm getting from this MONSTER. For all you slicers, the draw bias R5 will do the trick also, hopes this helps a little we all need it to play this wonderful game!

I tested this club on a Demo Day at Cinco Ranch in Katy, TX. I went there to try the new Ping G2 driver but was not quite impressed with it. This was one of the last clubs I tried and was quite taken by it. It's more forgiving than the R7 and most importantly cheaper. The stock shaft [ MAS ] felt stiff like it should better than the Aldila. I share the same impressions about this club with a number of people who tried it on that Demo day. My drives are straight and long about 20 to 30 yards more than my previous driver. The sound effects of it turned a few heads on the driving range as well. It will be a while before another one will top the R5 if you ask me.

I just purchased this driver today after testing others and must say that I am very impressed with the results. I have not actually played my first round yet but got a chance to test it at the driving range. This club is very stable, forgiving, consistent, and LONG !!! I am usually a fade or slice striker, and thought the Type D would cure this illness, but felt so much better with the type N. I do suggest to pick the right loft. I first tried the 10.5 deg and saw the ball go way up and way long. So I went to a 9.5 and figured the tragectory was PERFECT. My driver which before were a slice is not a baby fade or STRAIGHT shot. I can even hook the ball from time to time. As a result, it seems like a great durable club that is not only forgiving, it is beautiful. I can' wait for the R5 Dual fairway wood to be available. This club is well worth the price. I purchased for $275.00. It is awesome !! I thought I would pick my Callaway Big Bertha wood over a Taylor Made, but the TM seems to be a better Driver. I play X-16 Callaways irons and love them. I strongly recommend X-16's.

Got this yesterday and played nine holes at my local golf course in the afternoon. First couple of swings were not good as I had to get used to the weight, swingweight, tee height etc. By the end of the nine holes I had worked this driver out. I finished by flushing 3 drives in a row 250 metres down the middle, and it was uphill so it was all carry. Very sweet but solid feel off the clubface, high penetrating flight with unbelievable hang time, and longer than any driver I've ever hit. The head/shaft combination worked for me, very stable through impact. I can rip it as hard as I want and know the head won't twist, no more hooks on fast swings. Although the length is awesome and further than any driver I've ever hit, the most impressive thing about this driver is the carry, it just goes forever. Great for carrying corners on doglegs (no matter how high the trees), fairway bunkers should now be a thing of the past too. Got it off ebay for $470 AUD($180 below RRP), which I thought was a bargain for a name brand current model driver. It is without doubt the best driver I've ever hit and I'd reccomend it to players off a handicap of 15 and down, although with the right shaft/loft combo it would probably suit all levels.

Model Reviewed: R5 Dual Type N 10,5 Stiff

I recently acquired this driver and I must say that I am extremely satisfied. It is the best value club in the market ($330!!!). The face of the type N sets up square and the classic shape combined with 450 CC provides tremendous confidence. Very forgiving on miss hits and extremely well balanced. I have used the R7 several time but I must say that the multiple set ups can have a negative psychological effect on my swing when I use them to correct my game. The r5 type N is perfect because the fade that I produce from time to time will turn to a draw with work on my swing better than working on the settings. This enables me to work on all my golf games better than focusing on an lazy and easy swing for my driver. Summary: Perfect balanced and forgiving driver and trust me it is extremely LONG!!! Good job Taylor Made.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R5 Dual Type N

I just recently got one and took it to the range the other day. I really liked the club, so I want to post my impressions. I hit the 10.5 degree, type N with a stiff flex. I have an R7 TP with a Fuji Six, and I felt like I was hitting the R5 with the stock M.A.S. 65 shaft better than the R7. If my play on the course confirms this initial impression from my range session, then I will be putting the R7 on ebay (without the six shaft!). I hit the R5 higher and straighter than my R7 (same 10.5 loft, weights in back with slight draw bias). The stock shaft felt OK, but I still think I want a SIX in there. I had initially ordered the Type D head, but when I saw it, I quickly got the type N. The D is VERY closed --maybe two degrees-- and it bulges near the heal, making it look bigger and more cumbersome than the classic shape of the type N. Also, the Type N sets up square! At last, a stock club that does not set up closed! The R5 Type N is a successor to the R580XD in the same way the the R7 is a successor to the R510TP. The head of the R5 is 10cc bigger than the R580XD, has a much deeper face (based on my side-by-side comparison, even deeper than the R7), and is a bit shorter from face to back than the R580XD. They are about the same length from heel to toe. For some reason, I hit the R5 N much better than I did the R580XD, even though I believe both clubs to be very similar. Even though the R580XD has a 1 degree closed face, I tended to leave shots out to the right. Yet with a square faced R5 Type N, I am hitting the balls more down the middle. All I can figure is that the R580XD had a CG a bit closer to the toe than even the Type N. Thus, the Type N is a bit easier to suare the clubface through impact (the type D would even be easier, and I would encourage it for seniors and slicers). Bottom line: I think that the R5 Type N is the best driver TaylorMade has ever produced--even better out of the box than the R7 (before fine tuning). It is a screaming deal at $329 list price. Is it good enough to make me give up my R7 TP? Time will tell.
