TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The r5 dual features widely spaced, dual TaylorMade Launch control (TLC) cartridges that are pre-configured and permanent. This positions the weight ideally so you don't have to. With Launch Control promoting an extremely high MOI (moment of inertia) and proper clubhead rotation, the r5 dual Type N delivers remarkable forgivness and a straight ball flight while the r5 dual Type D provides a draw. Meanwhile, the exceptionally large 450cc titanium clubhead not only looks substantial at address, but it also gives you solid contact, consistently straighter shots and of course, confidence. And with TaylorMade's revolutionary inverted Cone Technology, the expanded COR of the r5 results in higher ball velocity on off center hits for longer, more consistent drives.

My search for the "magic" driver is over. I was having problems with my current driver, and decided to search for a new one. I intended to demo at least five different drivers, but I'm stopping with this one. I honestly feel that I will NEVER find a driver that is as long, forgiving, and most of all, inspiring as the R5. I'm not going to talk about how far this thing smokes the ball (long, long, long) or how every shot, unless made by a really ugly swing, goes straight where I'm aiming on a beautiful, penetrating trajectory. I'm just going to say that if you are looking for a new driver, you MUST demo this club. I got it with the stock MAS2 65-gram stiff shaft, and 10.5-degrees of loft. This combination is perfect. I feel no need to replace the shaft. It feels great to me. Just to add a political statement: I bought the club from the retail store that let me demo the club. Yes, I paid more than if I had bought it on e-Bay, or if I went bottom-feeding on the internet. Folks - we have the opportunity to demo equipment because the retail stores make the financial committment to stock a LOT of product. Be fair and support the retailers. 'Nuff said.

Had this driver for a while now. Amazing club. Best combination of distance, accuracy and forgiveness I have ever found. Off the centre the feel is awesome and distance is longer than anything I've hit, but the best feature of this driver for me is the results of off centre hits. Hits near the top and toe go a little higher but still straight and 95% distance. Another feature is the stability through impact. You can swing this club as hard as you want and it won't twist or turn at impact. Also can be worked left or right easily, but ball flight is usually high and penetrating. I have the stock stiff shaft which seems good enough to me, but I'm wondering if it will perform even better with a grafalloy blue in it. I can't imagine any driver being more user friendly, whilst still being a players club, than this one. For the guys on tour the R7 might be the go, but for everyone else this is as good a driver as you can get. The reduced price makes it an even better deal.

Purchased the R5 because I prefer the larger head size over my R7. R7 is accurate but I lost distance (I previoulsy was playing an R580) I regained the distance with the R5 with no loss of control. A great driver. I am going to have a Fuji shaft installed with even lower torque than the one I got on the R5. This is best combination of distance and control that I have ever seen in a driver. Best buy out there now since you can get them for about $200-220 on ebay and other places.

first of all, I'm a junior golfer who can't putt for crap but can drive the ball. this driver is deepest I've ever hit. I've had it for about 2 weeks. i switched from the mizuno mp001 400cc in search of a bigger and more forgiving driver. with the mizuno my avg. drives were about 250-260 with max being about 275, but with the r5 avg. is about 260-270 with max about 310. buy one if you want forgiveness and distance. I got mine for $250 at roger dunn almost brand new and considering the shaft being about $250 alone that's a pretty good deal.

I have usewd this club for 3 rounds now with exceleent results. I have adde 20-30 yards on distance and improved accuracy dramatically. My snap hooks are almost gone unless I really over swing. Nice high ball flight adds maximum carry. Highly reccomended. The twoother guys in my group have already ordered theirs. I was leary about the Taylor made recf of 10.5 degrees, but it seems right for me.

Model Reviewed: TM R-5 Dual Neutral (10.5)

I have used this driver for 10 rounds of golf with excellent results. I purchased the 10.5 degree driver with an Aldila NV-65 shaft. This set-up provides an excellent balanced club with a great feel. My occasional pulls to the left have disappeared with this neutral face driver. Distance is comparable to the TM-580XD but much more accurate. Trajectory is mid to high. The R5 is much more forgiving than the R7 and less expensive. I would recommend this club to anyone looking to hit the ball straight.

This is my first time using a brand new popular brand driver. My previous drivers were hand-me-downs from my brother, the best of which was the KZG PFT300 that I used it for about 3 years. Upon failing to get any more extra distance from it after several shaft changes I decided to go for a new driver. I tested the TM R5 Dual N together with the KZG Gemini, Mizuno MP 01, Nike Ignite 460cc, Cleveland Launcher 460, Titleist 983K and the TM R7. I eventually chose the R5 (with R-flex M.A.S. shaft) because I was consistently finding its sweet-spot and I did not have to change my swing for better distance. It also gave me the best control. So, after 5 rounds of golf with the R5, I attest to all claims made by TM about the driver. I am enjoying my golf more than ever as I'm finding the fairway consistently and further up thus enabling me to be more accurate with my approaches. The club is very forgiving in terms of distance and direction. Misses only causes minor loss in both categories. In short, my drives are longer and more accurate now. Resulting in lower scores, faster rounds, cleaner cleats and better golf. Definitely a 5-star driver.

WOW!!! I must have spent 20 hours at my local shop hitting 15-20 different drivers looking for a replacement for my old Ti Bubble 2 and the boy did the research pay off. My driver has always been my biggest enemy (now my putter has that title) until now. The R5 is super forgiving on mis-hits, incredibly sweet when you really catch one and it really inspires confidence when you pull it out. I used to avoid my driver whenever possible, opting for my 5 wood and then a 4-6 iron on most par fours. I now am consistently reaching for an 8 or 9 iron from the fairway with a big ol grin on my face. I love that it sits square at address and its sound is very very sweet (one thing I hated about the Cleveland Launcher was the sound although it was a great club). Unless you're a scratch golfer or have daddy's trust fund to spend don't waste your money on the R7 ... it's more hype than anything else and this club was way more consistent for me. I liked the 983K and the Cobra Drivers but the R5 was consistently straighter and more forgiving. I've even started to shape my drives with consistency and I've never been able to hit a draw when I needed to. Do me a favor ... just go hit one - that first great ka-pow dead down the middle of the fairway or driving range will have you pullin out your credit card. One more thing ... if it suits you, spring for the Fujikura Speeder 757 shaft ... it made a noticeable improvement for me in both performance and feel.

Very good driver - stable at impact compared with many other big headed drivers. Probably down to the Grafalloy Blue Shaft which in stiff plays stiffer than other custom shafts such as Aldila NV, Harmon TD range and Graphite Design YS6 and YS7 in same flex. Make sure you try different shaft and loft options to get right set up for you - they do vary
