TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The r5 dual features widely spaced, dual TaylorMade Launch control (TLC) cartridges that are pre-configured and permanent. This positions the weight ideally so you don't have to. With Launch Control promoting an extremely high MOI (moment of inertia) and proper clubhead rotation, the r5 dual Type N delivers remarkable forgivness and a straight ball flight while the r5 dual Type D provides a draw. Meanwhile, the exceptionally large 450cc titanium clubhead not only looks substantial at address, but it also gives you solid contact, consistently straighter shots and of course, confidence. And with TaylorMade's revolutionary inverted Cone Technology, the expanded COR of the r5 results in higher ball velocity on off center hits for longer, more consistent drives.

This is hands down the best driver I have ever played. I have the neutral version which helps me since I typically hit a draw anyways. I am hitting it longer and straighter than ever and it keeps me playin from the fairways. It's so easy to hit long with such little effort.

Let me put it this way, I tried almost every driver for a long time, and although I was able to hit some tremendous drives…it was 3 out of 10 that were on fairway, and another 3 were out of bounds.
Now, I now that 70-80% of drives are gonna hit the fairway, and very very long, may be not as long as older drives, but consistency is the name of the game.
It’s a new experience when you have this much confidence with the drive, it’s easier than a 7 iron.
It’s the best golf buy ever for me….buy it, you won’t regret it.

These 3 words basically sum up my experience of this big dawg; "Ohhhh My God!"

I went with the 10.5 with the stock stiff MAS 65 tip firm shaft. I prefer a 10.5 to a 9.5. These things fly plenty high.

When they say neutral, they are true to their word. Being a draw hitter, I can truly appreciate the lack of any draw bias, closed face or anything that would inhibit my game and help out 80% of the golf world but hamper me in the process.

It flies long, straight (with that little 3 yard draw at the end of it), the sweet spot feels obsenely sweet. The sound is great and the darn thing just performs and performs and performs, right down the middle of the fairway, high and long.

These things are going for a song on Ebay. I bought it new from Golftown in Canada at $279 CDN liquidation price.

It's a great club. I could say that 15 times in a row and it would not be enough.

The best big stick that I have hit in 3 years.

Customer Service

Excellent, gave great advice regarding shafts and the stock shaft was the right one for me.

Model Reviewed: R5 9.5 w/ Speeder 757 stiff

Longest, most forgiving driver I've ever played. Face is hot all over. It's not easy to work the ball but I can live with long and straight in a driver. Speeder shaft is great, but I'd get one level more flexible than you would normally get, because they play a bit stiffer than their rating (of course if I read the specs before I bought...). I got this when the face on my r510 went dead and taylormade said they didn't have any more r510's, so they'd give me either an r580xd or an r5. I definitely made the right decision, because I made more birdies from being closer to the green with this club than I ever have.

i dont know where to start. this club rocks. its big, and i mean big. its very forgiving, which you deffinitly need because, well, no ones perfect. its very easy to set up, and hits the ball with power. it makes that loud ping noise when you hit it right, its nice. im only 15 and i can crush the ball on occation. with my old taylor made 360xd, i could hit 230 avg. when i hit it right. now with the r5, i hit 270-300 when the conditons are right, just an all around great club, fits every swing you can imagine, although i really dont know that for sure

Best driver I have ever owned. Long, forgiving, and nice look too. I wasn't sure about the stiff shaft, but it is working out nicely. I put away my Nike T40 for this one, and am glad I did so. This driver is definetly woth trying if you are unsure and reading this review to make a decision. The cost is well worth the club.

Best driver i have ever hit. Consistently in the fairway and extremely long off the tee. Convinced me to throw my driver of 5 years into the garbage after just one round. Only problem i had with it was the stock shaft, which i changed, but from what i understand not too many people have that problem.

I just purchased this driver today, and WOW! What a difference. After 9 holes of play, I got used to the feel of this club and started hitting them long and straight. I previously used a Cleveland Launcher, 10.5 degree regular flex shaft, which was as long, but not always straight. With this TM driver, and Callaway BB 2002 irons, I broke 90 for the second time ever! Great driver for the price. Would recommend it to all skill levels. My best drive of the day was 240 yards carry (with another 10 yards of roll!) With my Cleveland, and other drivers, I was lucky to hit it 230! Demoed Callaway 460, Cobra, and the R5.

Customer Service

Bought at Golfsmith for $249. Haven't dealt with TM customer service yet.

Have tried many drivers over the years and this is without a doubt the most forgiving I have used. Have gained 20 yrds. and am hitting fairways unless I make a really bad swing and even then its usually still in play. The best part is I am now hitting it past my 17 yr. old son again and I am 59 yrs. young !

Model Reviewed: TM R5 Type N 10.5

I prefer my 905t to the R5, but it is still a very good driver. Before the 905t, I had a Cobra 440sz 9*, but it was to big and nowhere near accurate enough, so I put it back in the garage. One of my friends really liked it, so I said he could have it, but he wanted to give me his R5 for it, so I thought I would try it... The R5 is 10.5*, with a NV65 S, and I just rip it! Its a little longer than my Titleist, maybe a few yards, but not as accurate. If you have trouble keeping it straight, definately try the R5!
