Great driver! I have mine in 9.5 with a ust proforce 65 gold, at 44.75" it is long and straight. The R7 quad is a terrible club, it never feels like you hit the sweet spot, I really reccomend this club, you can pick it up for dirt cheap and it isn't that hard to hit for the higher handicappers as well.

Still the best driver for me. Really easy to hit, high and long. Can alternate between draw and fade easily. I put 6 gram of lead to put more swingweight for my tempo and cut the shaft to 44". I hit quite a lot drivers to compare. 510xd is another good driver to try. Nike ignite is also good but it's too heavy for me. R7 is too difficult for me to find the sweet spot (not consistent hit).

this club is rediculously awesome. i got this club for christmas as a gift and started to try it out at the range. took about 10 minutes to get use to and it's amazing. the driver is very workable and i can get a draw or fade on command. the forgivness is unreal. i law it on the fairway with ease and get straight shots when i want 'em. i can hit a shot about 210 very very straight with a high trajectory easily and i'm 15 and 5'5. this club rocks. i have tried the r5(too big) and r7(too heavy) but this is the one. highly recommended

Model Reviewed: 540XD 9.5* YS-6 Stiff

I first tried both a 9.5 degree and a 10.5 degree with the stock M.A.S.2 55 shaft in stiff flex. With both of these clubs I tended to consistently leave the ball out to the right. Swings with the stock "tip soft" shaft felt like the head was not "catching up" with my hands at impact. The stock shaft, at 55 grams, also felt to light. I switched to a 9.5 degree with a Graphite Design YS-6 stiff shaft. What a difference the shaft makes! No more leaving the ball out to the right. The club knocked my trusty TaylorMade 320 out of the bag, because it's more forgiving and straight while being every bit as long. In my opinion, the stock shafts were better in the 300 series. Like the TM 320, the 540XD produces a higher trajectory than most other drivers with the same loft. This works well for me since I tend to hit a low ball and need help going higher. I usually need at least 10.5 degrees with most drivers but 9.5 is fine with this club. The feel of this club at impact is a little more muted and less "crisp" than I'd like but I can't argue with the results!

This driver truly lives up to Taylor Made's reputation of fine drivers. I hit the club for the very first time and instantly new it was going to be staying in the bag. Over the past WEEK, i've have honestly averaged over 300 yards. My old average couldn't have been much more than 270. This club has improved my score by an average of 5 strokes. YOU HAVE TO HIT THIS DRIVER. IT IS THE SAME IF NOT BETTER THAN ANY HIGH PERFORMANCE CLUB OUT THERE. THE BEST THING----I PAID 130 DOLLARS FOR IT BRAND NEW!!!!!

Customer Service

The people are awesome, i bought my driver without headcover, i asked them about it, and they said they are sending one to me for free. I LOVE THESE GUYS

I did a lot of research before buying my r540xd and this club delivers. I took it to the range and got spectacular results--straight,long, and forgiving. I've read a lot of reviews that boast more distance and fogiveness but this club is hands down the best driver I've ever hit. My first round of with the club far exceeded my expectations. My average drive was 250 yards without trying to juice it. Even my miss hits still went 220 to 230. Amazing. I went from being the shortest driver in my playing group to having the longest average drives for the day. I have to seriously adjust my game becuase of the extra distance this club has given me. All of a sudden bunkers that were not in play are now a major consideration. I would highly recommend this club to any one in the market for a new driver. I also tried out the new R5 and R7 but both didn't feel as good as the R540xd. This driver is staying in my bag for a long time.

I just purchased this club a month ago and already love it. The sweet spot is huge and the club is very forgiving of ofcenter hits. After having used the club for only 5 rounds, I'm now consistenly in the fairway and a lot more confident of the tee. I've also added about 20 yards to my drives.

Model Reviewed: 540XD with YS-6 Stiff Shaft

I bought this because it sells for about $100 (slightly used) with premium shafts on eBay. I just couldn't pass up on the deal. Mine looks virtually new. Solid driver, but I wish the face was a little deeper. Distance is similar to my Ping TiSi, but it seems to offer a bigger sweet spot.
