Very easy to hit although the regular shaft is a little flimsy. I am 13 years old 4-10 and 82 lbs. and i can now consistently hit this driver over 210 right down the middle. Easy to work the ball with left, right, high and low. i used to hit my blue rage 195 but then got this driver and just started blasting them. Good for almost any skill level except higher handicappers might want to get the r580 and elite players may want to get the r510. All of them are very forgivng tho

I've had the R540 for 3 rounds now & I'm still coming to grips with it. I shoot in the high 70's to low 80's most rounds (10 h'cap) so my swing is fairly consistant. I've found this club to be extremely forgiving after having used an original Callaway GBB for the past 3 years. I wouldn't rate this club as having the sweetest sound or best feel off the clubface. However results count & this club gives good distance even on off-centre hits which is where most people hit the majority of their shots. Distance is good also, I've gained at least 10 metres on my old driver, through it was several design generations old so that's no surprise. Happy with the appearance of the club, not too much like the brick-on-a-stick concept that's becoming all the rage, but large enough to give you confidence. Nice rounded lines which I'm a fan of. Overall I think a very good club, with it's only shortcoming being the tinny sound that's typical of today's drivers.

I bought this driver based on many positive reviews and the now clearance price (paid $229cdn). I did not get to test it before I bought it, even though it worked for me, you should try it. You do not need the r580 as the size was perfect. I have only used it 1 round so I apologize for even posting a review, but I am that confident. Normally I get angry when people rave or complain about a product on this site, when at the end of their review they say ps can't wait to take it on the course ( u mean u like or dont like based on a practice range? or only 1 session?) I can say with confidence that this is a great club because I have bought multiple drivers mainly knockoffs and there was a discernable difference with this one. I had to run up to a tourney 1st tee yesterday, still taking the shrink wrap off the club (once again not recommended, but I had no time). My first swing left me disappointed...I swung fairly poorly...until i looked up...it curved back to the right and settled 200 yards in the center (no not 350? unlike alot of posters who apparently are ready for the tour I am avg). I shoot in the 90's or mid 80's on a great day. I even creep just over a hundred on a new unknow course. There is no way to buy a game (unfortunately I have tried) however the difference for a small investment more is a big difference in quality. No this club will not correct horrible swings or magically go 300 yards if you do not have the swing. It will however give avg golfers the confidence that..hey! I don't have to be perfect and by default you will swing better because u know avg swing=above avg results, good swing=great results.... and as I found on one hole..confident good swings=fantastic results (about 275 slightly down hill). The more the round went on the more confident I got especially after a stranger in our group offered this advice "try aiming down the center" i said i can't because i hook the ball, his reply "apparently not anymore". Now that was a nice feeling. Buy this driver, you will thank me. Avg golfers will better results, and good golfers will have great results. Yeah if you crush everything 350 and shoot 2 over, maybe some other difficult to hit 7degree out there will go farther..I don't know?? but to all others you will hit a few balls and go "wow that is better than i deserve, wow that is a nice feeling. p.s. some reviews claim you need lower loft, or don't like the feel etc. I got mid to high sailing balls that you kept expecting to come down, sooner than they did, and a nice firm but soft feeling (does that make sense) with decent feedback.

Haven't used it but I can tell you I read hundreds of reviews on this , and other, sites and they were overwhelmingly positive. The only concern I have is a few reviews (acutally 6) involving the face on the r500's caving in, however they all had them replaced by Tm no problem, so its not much of a concern.

So many knockoffs you wouldnt believe, knockoff callaway, knockoff taylor made r500 (nope it didnt work), black plasma pro select, boom boom lynx. p.s. my new graphite (yes graphite I have elbow problems at only 37) reg shaft mizuno mx20's rock as well, highly recommended especially at clearance prices, forged is not just for pro's. p.s.s. i shot 95, and hit 6 instead of my usual 3 fairways, but golf is mental as well as equipment.

Taylor Made R540 is awsome!!! This is by far the best club I have hit. I am now consistantly hitting 275+ drives down the fairway. Even the mis-hits are much straighter and longer. What attracted me the most was the ability to manuver the ball of the tee, with the new clubs out, the ball comes off the face to hot, the R540 combines great distance with great control, the perfect combination. The R540 has a big head, but not so big it's uncofortable, so in my opinion there is no reason for the XD models, these work just as good.

I am 14 and usually shoot in the low 90s. I used to use a Nickent Hyperforged driver, but I was not very consistent with it. I decided to get the R540 because of all the positive reviews I heard about it, and from seeing all the pros that use the R500 series. This club is very consistent and I can take a rip at it sometimes. At first I would hit a high push and I would lose distance. I now angle my upper body left of the target(I am LH) and that helps me come from the inside. I went to the range yesterday and I never really hit a bad shot. I was hitting consistently between 230 and 250. I tee the ball up so the ball is about half above the clubhead. I was even able to hit a few 275+ shots in Arizona a few weeks ago. So if you want consistency out of your driver, take a look at this club.

This is a great driver, if you are looking for a consistent fairway hit this is your club I shoot in the high 80s to low 90s and i can tell you that this club can really travel on some shots, i hit the best drive of my life about a 285 yard drive w/ a slight draw into a little breeze which is ridiculously long for me. I got it equipped with a 9.5 degree loft and a stiff stock shaft which feels great and they seem to be a great combo. Cant wait to tee off tomorrow with my 540 P.S. Dont waste ur money on the xd this is just as good

I purchased this club for its shallow face (hard to find these days). It's a great deal right now at $199 at several places now that the new XD series is out. I recommend it to those who want a solid club at a great value. However, if you are looking for absolutely monster drives, I would go with the Cleveland Launcher 400 instead.

why does everyone knock the stock shaft??? do not understand TM knows more about their drivers than we do. with a 70 gram, 2.4 torque, high flex what more would you want. people that state shaft re-alignment ect... should be getting PAID to play golf. I have the stock shaft normally shoot 80-82. Since I have had this driver been in the 75,77,78 range several times goes like a frozen rope. THE STOCK SHAFT IS JUST FINE!!!!! NO NEED TO SPEND MORE $ RE-SHAFTING. Buy yourself a utility club or another wedge, something you can use to score with. TM is right on with everything about this driver, thank you thank you is all I have to say abou it.

This driver is the longest and most forgiving driver I have ever played. The club should be illegal for how hot the club face is. It has added 15-20 yard onto my driving average and I would recommend it to anyone!
