I just got the R540 10.5 degree with a ProForce 65 Regular flex Graphite Shaft. I switched from the Big Bertha C4 which in my opinion is the worst driver Callaway has ever produced. The reviews of the R540 are all very true. With this club my trajectory is the same with every hit. It is easy to square the club face and makes hitting a draw very simple, pretty much making it easy to create any type of shot you want. Even on off center hits the trajectory doesnt change and still flies about as far. The head is not too big and bulky but it still gives you confidence standing over your ball. It has a good sound when striking the ball, unlike the thud I am used to hearing with the C4. I was doubtful when reading on here about how it added 10-15 yards on drives but I am a believer now. After hitting drives with the R540 I pulled out the old C4 just to see if it was true and sure enough my carry alone was at least 15 yards further. I highly recommend this club and with all the cheaper prices on it in the big name catalogs it is a great deal.

I have gained an extra 10-15 yds on the range compared to my previous driver (Callaway GBB 10 degree). Happy with the shaft although I can't compare to the standard stock. Ball flight is either straight or a slight power fade with medium trajectory. Can't wait to use the club out on the course!

Oh my sweet lord....this is a beast!!! By far the best driver you can buy and you can get it at a reasonable price now that Taylormade have launched the new XR-05 and the XD range. I play off a handicap of 2 and I am ripping the R540 with a proforce 65 stiff shaft so far its ridiculous.

If you know how to swing the club you will love this. I did have a grafalloy shaft put in. I am hitting the 10.5 degree and it launches. It is so solid and straight. With the 10.5 it goes higher than you expect but it goes a mile and it wont roll off the fairway when it lands. I am really happy about my purchase. Very easy to hit.

WOW. This is by far, even more than that, amazingly better, greater, amazing, the best driver I have hit. My current driver was alternating between a Callaway VFT with Graffaloy Prolite and a 975D with rifle steel. I was fed up with my other drivers, I felt like I was having to work magic to keep them in the fairway. Changing my swing, changing shafts, no confidence, embarassing slices, but that has all changed. I purchased the 540 with an already installed Graffaloy Blue shaft(wow what a great shaft), a combonation I highly, highly recommend(unless you can afford the 757 I hear they are amazing). Anyways I hit this driver on one of those electronic screens and kept hitting a small to medium draw(which I haven't been able to do in some time). At first I couldn't believe it since I have been hitting some monster slices lately. To make a long story short I sold my old drivers and bought the 540. Not quite believing the machine I took it to the range. Same result, bombing straight, or small draws 300 yards all day long. I honestly couldn't hit a slice(I tried too...best I could do was get it to move maybe 20 yards off target line). I could barely contain myself. For a person who has battled a slice off the tee from the first time I have hit a driver, to having a club that gives me this much confidence is amazing. I finally feel very confident on the tee with my driver. As far as distance goes I would say it is comparable to the Callaway VFT. I hit my VFT between 290-315 on most solid hits. The taylor made I would say goes 285-310. Maybe a little shorter on miss hits, but at the end of the day 295 in the middle of the fairway beats the heck out of 305 in the woods doesn't it? So in summary I would say this club is fantastic. I am playing in a tourney next weekend and can't wait to tee off with it on the first hole.

I got my TM R540 (0.830 COR) off of EBay with a stock stiff graphite shaft (my head speed averages ~110mph). My drives were long, but not consistent enough (hitting only 50% of fairways on good days on my home course). I had it fine tuned by a local clubfitting professional. He did three things: - realign the spine of the shaft (this is called SST Puring) - it turns out that my shaft was really off and had to be rotated about 90 degrees; check out http://www.sstpure.com/media/meng0008.html for more about this process - cut 0.5" so the length is now 44.5" - inserting a 20-gram counter balance at the butt of the grip; check out http://www.egolfweekly.com/2003/reviews/misc/bcg_balance.html for more info Now, the driver feels TOTALLY different. I goes dead straight almost every time (I was hooking a lot before the tuning), even when I rip it. What's amazing is that now I get this sweet vibration at impact that the club never had before; it's indescrible... All I can say is that it feels really good and solid! On my bad days, I hit about 50% of fairways on my home course now. On good days, I only miss a few fairways. If you have never had your driver tuned, you ought to consider it. I cannot believe that "fine-tuning" can totally change how your club feels and reacts... I learned that it is very important to match your club to your swing. Some of us tend to blame our atheletic ability to swing. Sometimes, your club is to blame.

The driver is great my old driver was a taylor made 320 Ti. The distance I have added to my drive is about 10 yards. Not a lot but every yard helps. The only bad thing I can say is that I still hit my drives really high I was told by the retailer that this driver should lower my ball flight but it hasn't. But other than that I would say this is a great driver and if I had it to do over again I would buy it again.

Demo'd this club for 9 holes at a local course, and all I have to say is I need to get with the modern times. This thing was just about impossible to hit poorly. I only hit one bad drive on the first hole, every other shot was long and straight, and in the fairway. This club is almost impossible to hook (good for me), but a fade can be produced pretty easily. Trajectory is a bit high because of the shallow face. I compared this with my old Burner Bubble driver, and there is no comparison. Hit a good shot with both on the same hole and the 540 went 30-40 yards further. Tied my career best 9 hole score with a 35. Also compared it with a used 300ti at Golf Galaxy in the simulator, and got similar results with the much cheaper 300 series club, so I decided to buy that one and give it a try. Review to follow on the 300 after I have a chance to play a couple rounds with it.
