R 540 MAS 70 Stiff 8.5 deg.
It takes a while to get the right tempo down on this driver, but that is the case for any new club. Took me about 5-6 holes after warming up to get it right. Found out that I could really unload and swing this club without any penalty. I have battled a slice for as long as I can remember, and this club really seems to help turn a slice into a gentle fade. Distance was a little longer than the Deep Red I have been using, and the trajectory was much better. Hitting the ball off the toe seems to result in a push, but not too offline, and some lost distance, but not too bad. Over all, a great buy, but not convinced its the last driver I'll ever own. R540 MAS 70 Stiff Shaft (Stock)
I hate to do it, but I have to give this club a negative review. I used it for one round so this may not be enough of a chance, but I didn't hit one long drive the whole day. The only redeeming quality was that the ball seemed to fly fairly straight, but it also had a decided fade bias that probably killed more distance. I also have a Titleist 975J which isn't the most forgiving driver, but is much better overall than the Taylor R540. I was disappointed because I had seen so many good reviews. So I'm still searching for that perfect driver... |

R540 10.5 loft
First off, thanks to all who reviewed before me on this site for helping me make my final decision. I bought the 10.5deg stiff shaft version, and love it. I have only been around the course twice with it since buying it, but I've reached 3 of the par 4s that I've never even tried for before thanks to this club. I have to admit, I had to get used to the size of the head, and had to slightly adjust my stance to compensate for not being able to get the face square at impact, but I'm hoping it's a temporary correction until I get used to it. I have always been a long ball hitter, and have in the past always just tee'd off with a 3 iron or 1 iron because I lacked consistency with my old Callaway S2H2 Warbird. (ancient, I know) This club gives me the consistency to hit driver when driver will help. I paced some of the better shots off at over 310 yards, which is about a 25 or 30 yard improvement for me. I do highly recommend that before you spend a great deal of money on it, to get your swing speed checked. It really makes a difference. Don't get the stiff shaft just because you think you swing fast, make sure it's the right one for you. Customer Service Haven't had to deal with them, love the club. Today I tried R540 9.5 degree stiff shaft (Japanese spec.) in the driving range. It is amazing!! Most of my hits are straight and very long. I could never imagine I can hit 250 meter so easily and straight. I bought it straight away and replaced my R360 (another good driver). I also like the sound when the ball is hit solidly. Congratulations Taylor Made, you have done it again.... Customer Service none Similar Products Used: TM R360, Great Big Bertha, etc.. |

R540 ts shaft
I purchased the R540,because i like to try out alot of different drivers.I have used the calloway great big bertha, yonex, and ping tsi. This is not only the longest driver I have used but also the most reliable.I typically slice at least 3/4 of the fairway, and with this club I have yet to have a lie that affects my second shot.I would strongly recommend saving your money and purchasing this club.IT WILL BE YOUR LAST! Customer Service I traded in the stiff shaft for the ts shaft without any trouble. Similar Products Used: yonex, calloway great big bertha, ping tsi |

I can't believe some of the reviews this club has been getting. This club is the SHIZNIT! I bought the 9.5deg with stiff MAS70. These people who rated this club as junk or garbage or worse need to give their heads a shake. Granted it took time to get use to on the driving range, but what club doesn't? The sound is the only thing that I don't like but who cares when you hit it straight and long! I tried all the new clubs this year...Callaway, Titleist, Ping, Launcher, etc...and this is buy far the best out of the bunch. First time on the course...First hole, Par4, 342 yards, I put it pin high on the fringe just off the green...second hole Par4, 446 yards I hit it to the 100 yard marker(you do the math). My hole round was like this and only 1 fairway missed. Best round of the year so far. Get this club and practice your swing, you will not be sorry. For those of you who say it is garbage and has no distance ...Hit The Gym...because you can only buy so much yardage weaklings, the rest is up to you. TM 540
I have been using the TM 320 driver for awhile and had thought that it was the best driver on the market...until I purchased the 540. The 540's expanded COR area is very forgiving, and this driver is very long. The best performance is with a smooth swing tempo, you can't try to "force" the hit. Going from the 320 to the 540 required some adjustments on the range, but when "dialed in" this club out performs any other driver I've hit. (A friend just bought a Cleveland 400 and tried my 540 on a 410-yard, par 4 yesterday and out drove his own tee shot by about 20 yards, and by the way he is a 6 handicap.) I would recommend the 540 to anyone. Customer Service No opportunity as yet. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 320, Cleveland 330, Calloway Big Bertha, Titliest 975J |
