This club sucks. Or at least the one I hit did. The one I hit had a regular shaft and I am on the border of needing Xtra stiff, but still I couldnt hit it farther than 200 yards, and the next shot I hit with my G2 would go 270. So I dunno maybe the club I hit was just screwed up cause there was definitely something wrong with it, or maybe thats how they all are...

i tryed it out in a golf simulater where u hit into the sheet and it tells u how far u hit ect... and i could never get any of my hits to read on the screen cause it was just to low and the guy put an ink pad on the club sweet spot and all of my hits were off the side of the club so i give it a 3

Amazing. I love Taylor Made drivers, period. I had an accident with my r580 and the head snapped off the shaft; but when my pro called the company, they sent me a brand new club and upgraded me to an XD. This thing is awesome. I find my ball in a pool of wetness when I finally get to it in the fairway only to realize that it was crying after the punishment my r580XD and I put on it back at the tee box. Seriously, I have about a 105-110 swing speed, and I kill the ball with this thing. Unless I am having a really bad day (snap hookin left or not releasing the clubhead) I drive the ball over 280 and consistently over 290 (puffing my chest out). No kidding, I went about 2 months with a bad swing- hit the drive really close to the hosel and still drove it 275-285. Forget the R7- don't spend the money on the screws. Get the XD (now very cheap) and you won't regret it.

Customer Service

TOP NOTCH- Taylor Made is hands-down the best company out there for C.Service.

Great Driver...but like any driver you must have the right shaft. My 580XD has a Mitsubishi Rayon Tour Stiff shaft made for Taylor Made. It has a chrome look to it. A match made in heaven. On any given day I average from 250-280 yds taking wind and playing conditions into consideration. I'm not a big guy 5'6, 180 lbs but I now have the confidence to cut those doglegs to shorten the hole or go all out on those straight aways because of the control this combination has given me. Not bad when you hit driver-PW on a 422 yd par 4 on a course that is well watered.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R580XD

When I first read all those reviews about the TM580XD, I was a little sceptic and found it hard to believe what others have wrote about. Now that I have bought and tried a 10.5 degree R-flex TM580XD, I realized how true those reviews were. The TM580XD is very easy to hit with. Its light weight and forgiving features makes it ideal for the majority of golfers. You will more fairways too. Most golfers should use an R-flex as an S-flex would only suit some one with a consistently high swing speed. A new one now would cost u about $270 (canadian), and it is getting more difficult to find them in the stores.

I have been playing the R580XD 10.5 Reg flex for six months and really like the results. I'm just like any other golf nut trying to find an edge using equipment. This club provides a forgiving 440cc club face that is 1.0 degree closed(anti-slice)and a factory 45.5 inch shaft for extra distance. Golfers with a smooth swing at moderate speeds can hit this club accurately and for good distances. No club will make up for a bad swing, but this one can give you a chance at a price that makes it a strong value for $200 or less.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made 5580 XD Stiff 9.5 degreey

Played with a friend today who was raving about his new XD. After I'd hit my own drive, I'd hit another with his half a dozen times throughout the day as no one was behind us. My own is Ping TISI 10.5 regular flex-(their stiff seemed too stiff) though the rest of my set is stiff. 5 of 6 times the XD was about 20 yards longer, give or take. One was a few yards shorter and another was about 40 yards longer. It went just as straight as my PING. I brought my good swing today and mixed the ball selection back and forth, so I feel confident in the results. The XD won't turn heads on the range like the POW! of the PING, and the feel is not "trampoliny" like the PING. In fact it's the most "persimmonny" metal wood I've hit for feel and sound. Have hit another partners R7Quad and liked everything about the XD better. Started a birthday sequence of events in motion, but it only lasted a few minutes as I found one for $200 w/ free shipping and ordered it... I've got 4 dollar nassaus before my birthday making it that much cheaper. Men are weak.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made r580 XD 10.5 degrees

I never could find a driver I could hit consistently, always struggled with a fade or a slice and could never seem to get the ball airborne. A friend recommended the r580 XD and I went out and got a demo club, a 10.5 degree driver. Absolutely hammered it!!!! The forgiveness was incredible and the distance was unbelievable. I finally found a driver that would carry a long way and could be trusted to go straight. I actually drove a 315 yard hole at my home course with the demo. Needless to say I went out the next day and got one through the friend for $160 brand new. What a steal!! I would definitely recommend this driver for anyone who wants consistent distance and unbelievable forgiveness.

Well, I'd like to start by saying this is a great club... but don't stop reading. I have a huge swing and many times drove this driver over 330 yards. when hit well it went straight and long. Unfortunately it was not strong enough to withstand the blows. I am now the second person that I know to have dinted the face right in the sweet spot. I would like Taylor Made to prove to me that it was a defect and replace it but it has been suggested that I'm spit out of luck.
